Four picks scoring points was a popular refrain for Fantasy Leaguers but as usual it's the quality that counts.  1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, Davie, and SetupDetermines all had four picks score points but differences in quality saw BlueCoverman and SetupDetermines fall down the leaderboard.  LadyPutt and Mary_S each had three picks score points and despite picking the winner and earning the most finish points Mary_S could only finish fifth.  LadyPutt was able to hold on for victory.  RedRage had two picks score points.

After a 63, the popular pick of David Howell earned a podium finish and low round bonus points for 1GrumpyGolfer, Davie, LadyPutt, and SetupDetermines.  Alexander Levy and Gregory Molteni struggled in the final round finishing with 78s.  Molteni's earned him last place too.

Four picks had rounds of 68 or lower to be among the Top 10 Low Round scores and LadyPutt had three of them.  She extends her lead at the top of the leaderboard just a little bit further as SetupDetermines only had two picks shoot 68 or better.  1GrumpyGolfer, Davie, Mary_S, and RedRage also scored points in round 3.

There was a three way tie for low round of the day; Richie Ramsay, S.S.P. Chowrasia, and Andy Sullivan all shot 66.  At the other end of the spectrum was Thomas Pieters who had a 79 for the worst round of the day.

A closing bogey from Gregory Bourdy was all that prevented LadyPutt from having the full set.  The cut bonuses allow her to sneak above SetupDetermines who could only manage to get six picks through to the weekend.  Davie, RedRage, and 1GrumpyGolfer are left with seven picks however, 1GrumpyGolfer has the full complement from categories A & B so he's the only other Fantasy Leaguer to earn more than one cut bonus.  BlueCoverman also has six picks left and Mary_S has just four picks.  She was the only Fantasy Leaguer not to earn a cut bonus but she can console herself with the low round scorer of the day.  Hennie Otto shot a 62 to storm to the top of the leaderboard.

Michael Jonzon and Jens Dantorp both had 78s which were the worst rounds of the day.

SetupDetermines has got off to a flying start with two of his picks shooting 66 to tie for the first round lead.  LadyPutt, BlueCoverman, Davie, and RedRage also picked one of Bernd Wiesberger and Francesco Molinari.  Davie and LadyPutt had another pick finish with a 67 and that earned them more bonus points.  1GrumpyGolfer and Mary_S had just the one pick score points.

At the other end of the leaderboard Ignacio Garrido and Daniel Brooks shot 80s for the worst round of the day.

We're entering the final stages of qualification for the European Ryder Cup and this is one of the final chances for those looking to prove a point to Paul McGinley.  Nine former champions are in the field including Julien Quesne as the defending champion although the venue has moved around somewhat.  Some that are missing include Graeme McDowell and mulitple winners in Ian Poulter and Gonzalo F'Dez-Castano.  The headline player is Stephen Gallacher and he's among three players in the top 50 in the OWGR playing this week.

We are back to our regular three Categories but you still need to pick three, plus reserve, from each one.  The additional cut bonus points are still on offer this time around.  If you get all of your picks through in any category you get a small bonus.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, so cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.  Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Sorry folks, the end of the summer ecology survey season is approaching and I am working away lots, so not getting time to check this as regularly as I would like or put any thought into selections. It could well be like this until the end of September. There is always a last minute rush for bat surveys etc, and my boss doesn't like to turn down work... At least they owe me 85 hours of TOIL to use in the autumn/winter: a great time to get on the golf course in Scotland (or not).

Four picks had rounds of 68 or lower to be among the Top 10 Low Round scores and LadyPutt had three of them.  She extends her lead at the top of the leaderboard just a little bit further as SetupDetermines only had two picks shoot 68 or better.  1GrumpyGolfer, Davie, Mary_S, and RedRage also scored points in round 3.

There was a three way tie for low round of the day; Richie Ramsay, S.S.P. Chowrasia, and Andy Sullivan all shot 66.  At the other end of the spectrum was Thomas Pieters who had a 79 for the worst round of the day.

Bank holiday Monday for me today; 9 holes of golf with the missus and a few friends this morning and then a BBQ afterwards. I'll try and get the results done posted later this afternoon but LP is right it's gonna be close.....

Also, LP didn't mean to ignore you about the Ryder Cup, I haven't really thought about it yet but would probably do something like last time around. Heroes and villains for each team, predict winner and overall score.  Will need the teams to be announced first and I'm not sure when that will happen.

Tuesday lunchtime (12.30pm our time) for Europe and midnight for USA. Not sure what times those are for you Grumps.

Really Grumps you do need to get your priorities in order. What could be more important on a bank holiday Monday...a game of golf with the missus and a few friends followed by a BBQ, or getting the fantasy league results posted?

I see that uncle Bernard has thrown his weight behind nephew Stephen getting a Ryder Cup wildcard pick this morning.

Anyone else get heartily sick of Mark Roe in particular bigging up Gallacher throughout Sky's coverage of the Italian Open and then Robert Lee trying to get Paul McGinley to tell him live, on air, two days before the official announcement, who his picks were?What with that and the giggling imbecile that is Peter Oosterhuis commentating on the FedEx coverage (why does he think everything he says is so funny?) and it almost made me turn off (actually I did for a while to watch my Sky+ recorded coverage of the World Equestrian Games from Normandy) but he was still at it when I tuned in again - and I'd missed Rory's charge up the leaderboard.

Could I have just sneaked it ?

Did Red not pick by numbers some weeks ago, if he missed posting his own selections ??

I thought he had as well and I've found it! He said, on May 30th: "In future if I don't make any selections can my standing numbers be 2,8 and 11 from each category?"

Looks as though Grumps owes him a few points ......

Four picks scoring points was a popular refrain for Fantasy Leaguers but as usual it's the quality that counts. 1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, Davie, and SetupDetermines all had four picks score points but differences in quality saw BlueCoverman and SetupDetermines fall down the leaderboard. LadyPutt and Mary_S each had three picks score points and despite picking the winner and earning the most finish points Mary_S could only finish fifth. LadyPutt was able to hold on for victory. RedRage had two picks score points.

After a 63, the popular pick of David Howell earned a podium finish and low round bonus points for 1GrumpyGolfer, Davie, LadyPutt, and SetupDetermines. Alexander Levy and Gregory Molteni struggled in the final round finishing with 78s. Molteni's earned him last place too.
