Quick! Turn the lights on, it's getting dark. In the gloom of Kentucky Rory McIlroy putted out in the dark and put the finishing touches on an amazing spell of golf that's seen him win 2 majors and a WGC in his last three events.
SetupDetermines had a Rory spell that saw him finish with 5 picks in the top 7 including the top 3. He blitzed the overnight lead of RedRage who had two others in the top 3 but two other picks didn't really challenge the top 10. BlueCoverman had five picks score points and that was enough to tie Davie for third place. Mary_S and LadyPutt each had three picks score points but were never in position to challenge for a podium finish. 1GrumpyGolfer had just two picks score points.
Jimmy Walker and Ernie Else both shot 65 for the low round of the day and those bonus points emphasised Setup's domination. Everyone bar RedRage, LadyPutt, and 1GrumpyGolfer earned points from Walker. Rafa Cabrera Bello finished with an 80 and last place to boot; no one picked him so it didn't really matter.

Points galore in the third round of the USPGA. Nine picks shot 67 or lower and plenty of points were handed out. RedRage and 1GrumpyGolfer each had five picks earn points and that was enough to put RedRage into the joint lead. BlueCoverman, Davie, Mary_S, and SetupDetermines all had four picks score points and LadyPutt had to settle for just three picks scoring points.
Hunter Mahan and Bernd Wiesberger shot 65 to tie for the low round of the day. Brendon Todd finished the day with a 75 for the worst round.
As Rory McIlroy takes a one shot lead into the final round and attempts to win back to back majors will RedRage manage the same or can another player and Fantasy Leaguer change that?

Despite a weather interrupted second round everyone was able to complete their round and the cut line fell at +1. Only five picks missed the cut and early leader RedRage lost ground. RedRage, LadyPutt, and Mary_S all lost one pick and 1GrumpyGolfer lost two picks. BlueCoverman, Davie, and SetupDetermines are left with the full set and all the bonuses that go with it.
Jason Day had the round of the day with a 65. Club Professional Matt Pesta finished with an 89 for the worst round.

Hands up! Who thought RedRage's pick of Lee Westwood was optimistic? Especially after he made double bogey on his 10th hole. But, Westwood ultimately repaid RedRage's faith in him by setting an early pace at the USPGA. Five closing birdies meant that Westwood ended with a 65 and an early share of the lead with Ryan Palmer and Kevin Chappell. Five other players shot 66 to round out the Top 5 Low Round scores and four of them were picks and the fifth was a reserve. Everyone is off the mark in round one thanks to Rory McIlroy but RedRage has the early lead as he had two other picks score points. Mary_S is in close pursuit as she had three picks shoot 66. 1GrumpyGolfer and Davie both have two picks shoot 66.
Club pro Aaron Krueger was welcomed to the big leagues and he found it a harsh place. His round of 84 was the worst of the day but at least he finished the round. Jason Dufner withdrew midway and Ben Crane also withdrew.
The cut line is even par but with bad weather this could change and also mean that the second round is not completed on Friday.

The final major of the 2014 season sees us in prime horse country in America. Valhalla Golf Club hosts the 96th edition of the USPGA Championship having previously seen the event take place there in 1996 and 2000. Valhalla has also hosted the 2008 Ryder Cup and the Senior version of the USPGA in 2004 and most recently in 2011. It won't be the same as when it was last seen on television as all of the greeens have been rebuilt and lots of the complexes have been changed. The bunkering has also been tweaked on a few holes.
Mark Brooks won the USPGA back in 1996 and is one of the 15 former champions in the field. Between them they have won this title 19 times with Vijay Singh and Tiger Woods being the only ones with multiple wins. The second of Tiger's wins came at Valhalla after he defeated Bob May over a 3 hole playoff.
109 of the top 110 players are scheduled to play. Only Dustin Johnson, ranked 17 in the OWGR, is missing through a self imposed or an enforced exile depending on whose version of the truth you believe. There are some injury doubts as to whether that high number of highly ranked players will hold; Tiger withdrew from the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational during the final round and defending USPGA champion Jason Dufner is also struggling. There are some 20 Club Professionals included in the field having qualified through finishing in the top 20 of the PGA's Club Professional Championship. Michael Block won that title at Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach.
We are back to our regular three Categories but you still need to pick three, plus reserve, from each one. The additional cut bonus points are still on offer this time around. If you get all of your picks through in any category you get a small bonus. Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus. It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.
This is a full field with cut event, so cut points will be available; see above.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:
Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

I'd have been quite miffed if Henrik's untidy 3 putt on the back 9 had cost me first place, but even if he parred that I would only have finished on 890 points. Not good enough to catch Setup- well done, mate!

Well, in a way it did. If Stenson had two putted and everything else stayed the same he would have shot 65, tying low round, and finished in joint second. That would have put Rickie down into 4th. So that changes the points around a little bit and you and Setup would have tied on 870 points.
Don't feel so bad because Setup would still have won courtesy of Jimmy Walker or Steve Stricker finishing 7th. Your scoring picks of Lee Westwood and Charl Schwartzel finished 15th and so would have lost the playoff.
Not that I'm trying to avoid actual work with spreadsheets by looking at what that little permutation may have entailed.

Was thinking of maybe taking this week off. Typically the event after a major is a bit like after the Lord Mayor's show. It's Danish Open or The Greensboro which would have players trying to make the top 125 for the FedEx playoffs next week. Up to you guys, let us know your thoughts and if needed I can post the event for tomorrow afternoon.

Hi Grumps...me and the rest of the Blue family are off on our hols to the Bahamas this Saturday morning. Could I have numbers 2,4,6 and reserve 8 for the next fantasy league event please. (That reminds me of a song...I wonder why?)
Cheers all

So I'd have still lost? Well that's fine, I can still forgive Henrik... He will be more pissed about it than anyone, it was a real momentum halter for him, he was quite errant after that but scrambled superbly.
Hope we are all enjoying a week off.
