Another beat down in the Fantasy League as LadyPutt records her second victory of the Summer/Autumn session.  With a 1-2-3 finish from Rory, McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, and Marc Leishman it was a foregone conclusion.  Two of her other three picks also scored points and it was only Pablo Larrazabal who tarnished the stellar performance.  1GrumpyGolfer and RedRage each had four picks score points but RedRage didn't have McIlroy and that pick allowed 1GrumpyGolfer to overhaul RedRage.  BlueCoverman and SetupDetermines each had three picks score points and the inclusion of McIlroy meant they had a better quality finish than Davie who also had three picks score points.  Mary_S had just two picks score points.

Phil Mickelson shot 62 for the low round of the day and Daisuke Maruyama and Tano Goya ended up with 78s for the worst rounds of the day.  Goya also finished in last place.

LadyPutt has made her charge after round three of the WGC - Bridgestone.  Five picks made the Top 10 Low Round scores of 67 or lower and LadyPutt had three of them.  1GrumpyGolfer and BlueCoverman also had three picks score points.  SetupDetermines and Mary_S each had two picks score points and Davie and RedRage had one pick score points.

Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama both shot 65 for low round of the day.  Kevin Streelman had a 78 for the worst round of the day.

The ladies made a charge in round two courtesy of Sergio Garcia's steamroller ing of the backnine. His round of 61 equalled the course record and earned bonus points for LadyPutt, who narrows the gap to RedRage, and Mary_S, who moves up into a share of third. Tano Goya had the worse round of the day with a 77.

Four picks made the Top 5 Low Round scores including Marc Leishman who had the round of the day with a 64. Francesco Molinari, Justin Rose, and Rickie Fowler were the other three picks to make 67 or lower. RedRage had all four of them and he surges into the lead over LadyPutt who had Leishman and Fowler. Everyone else, except Davie, picked Fowler to get off of the mark. Davie had picked Rose so he also got points. Gonzalo FDez-Castano had a bit of a shocker. Starting on the back nine he was +4 at the turn before coming to the third hole which gave him fits. After dumping several balls in the water in front of the green he eventually made it to the safety of dry land and ended up with a 9. He did make two birdies close to the of the round to improve his score a little bit but it was a 79 when all was said and done. This was an inspired pick for 1GrumpyGolfer who sneaks into third place courtesy of his bad play.

The Bridgestone Invitational is taking place, as usual, at the Firestone Country Club.  This par 70, 7,400 yard layout has seen Tiger Woods emerge victorious on eight occasions the last of which was last year.  He won at a canter from Keegan Bradley and Henrik Stenson.  The field is strong as ever for a WGC with all of the top 50 ranked players in attendance.

With the limited field, no cut event, we are back to two picks from each category plus reserve.  Cut bonuses will not be in effect.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.  Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

There's about 70 players in the field this week so for smaller field sizes the number of picks get reduced. The same thing happened for the Masters earlier this year.

Looks like DJ has withdrawn.  As it's an Invitational I don't think there will be a replacement.  I'll update Cat B shortly.

GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2013–2014 - Summer/Autumn Session - Event #2 - WGC Bridgestone 1505004552 Think I might have worst round sewn up with the inspired pick of Gonzo +11 through 13 with a 9 on his card! Think they need to check the footage to see whether it's Gonzalo F'Dez-Castano actually playing instead of Gonzo from the muppets GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2013–2014 - Summer/Autumn Session - Event #2 - WGC Bridgestone 3461234324

He had a fourth place finish last week.  Might work out for me as it's a no cut event...

And even better, I've been struck down with LPRPitis as Ryan Moore shoots 65 for the early clubhouse lead.

Oh no, Gonzo's on a roll! 2 birdies in his last four gets him to +9.

Jeez it was crap wasn't it! And the first day it looked like all my picks were massing nicely, though out of points scoring for 1st day. As the tournament went on they just got worse and worse!
