Almost half of the GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks were among the top 20 finishers and four were within the top 10.  Francesco Molinari was the pick of the bunch as he finished in a tie for second.  Davie was top of the pile with four finishers within the points including two in the top 10.  SetupDetermines was one of the closest challengers to Davie and he had three picks score points.  RedRage tied with SetupDetermines with two picks scoring points including Molinari.  BlueCoverman and 1GrumpyGolfer also had two picks score points.  LadyPutt had only one finisher score points but it was a good one in Molinari.

Peter Hanson had the round of the tournament with a 63 and that was the icing on the cake for Davie as he clocked another 10 points.  Mu Hu had the worse round with an 80 but he didn't come close to finishing bottom of the pile.  That was Xuen-cheng Li who come closest to matching par with a 77 in the final round.

In another :doh:moment by a professional golfer Simon Dyson was disqualified before the third round.  He incurred a penalty for touching the line of his putt and the failure to add a two shot penalty led to him being disqualified.  This means even without a cut two thirds of GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers don't have a full compliment anymore.

In better news it was points galore and Davie seems to be sitting pretty at top of the leaderboards after some stellar play by his picks.  Four made the Top 10 Low Scores including one who had one of the best rounds of the day.  Both BlueCoverman and SetupDetermines had two picks in the Low Round Scores but SetupDetermines also had one of the low round scorers too.  1GrumpyGolfer and LadyPutt had one of their picks in the Low Round Scores.  RedRage had points for one of the worst rounds of the day.

Low Round scorers were Rafa Cabrera Bello, Gonzalo FDez-Castano, and Gregory Bourdy who was picked by Davie and SetupDetermines.  Mary must have placed a bet on David Howell too as he was one of the poorest performers in round 3.  It seems injury worries are catching up with Henrik Stenson as he also performed poorly; RedRage the beneficiary of his poor play.

"Looks like nothing's gonna change, everything's still remain the same....So I guess the scores'll remain the same."

So what happened for GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers in round two? In a word, nothing. In two words, absolutely nothing.  With no cut the chances of scoring points were slim.  Peter Hanson came the closest with a 68 but that was one shot shy of Ricardo Gonzalez's 67.  Mary must have found a way to jinx Chris Wood as he followed up a poor round 1 with an even worse round 2.  His 83 puts him 1 shot in front of Xuen-cheng Li in the race for last place.

Round 3 brings us more opportunities to score points, let's hope we can take them.

Some surprises were in store for us in round 1 of the BMW Masters in Shanghai.  John Daly held it together for a round of 68 and second place on his own, six picks made the Top 5 Low Round Scores, and pick Joost Luiten hit his opening tee shot around 100-120 yards before calling it a day.  Everybody bar LadyPutt had two picks score points and she was futher hampered by the retirement of Luiten.

What will round 2 bring us?  Which John Daly will show up; the one that shoots 68 or the one that runs out of golfballs and storms off?

The European Tour Final Series kicks off with the BMW Masters in Shanghai.  Peter Hanson is the defending and only champion so far.  Henrik Stenson is bidding to be the first player to win the FedEx Cup and the Race to Dubai in one season.  15 of the top 50 in the OWGR are taking part so this is a slighty stronger field than the last few events we have had.

The field is supposed to be 78 players although only 77 are confirmed as entered.  The next player eligible is Justin Walters at 67 on the Race to Dubai rankings and 220 in the OWGR.  He is included in this field despite not being confirmed on the European Tour website. A * has been placed next to his OWGR ranking to signify this.

EDIT: Justin Walters is the first alternate; another Chinese player was entered by the Chinese Golf Association instead.  Category C is updated to reflect the addition of Xuen-Cheng Li who is not ranked in the OWGR.

Please note: time differences will mean that picks have to be made by Wednesday evening to ensure picks are made before start of the event.

This is a limited field event with no cut; cut bonuses will not be in effect.

Everyone please notify others of changes in field before tournament starts and invalid or incomplete picks from participants.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.  Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Justin Walters did not make it into the field, he is first alternate, Xuen-cheng LI is in the field instead. Category C is updated to reflect this change.

This hasn't affected anyone's picks by the looks of it.

Blimey, you don't half get about Setup. Nice to see you're keeping it simple for me...

If Rory is also the top ranking then give you the next one down?
This applies to events 14 & 15; you'll be back for the last one?

I don't think he has dumped her. He congratulated her on her victory last week on Twitter #thatsmygirl.

Unofficial update:

Everyone who picked from the field has two picks in the Top 5 Low Round scores. Those that picked by numbers did not have anyone in the Top 5 Low Round scores and then got humped by the withdrawal of one of those unlucky numbers.

EDIT: Those that had picked by numbers, and had a player withdraw, were doubly humped. One of their picks was injured and planned to withdraw but was forced to hit a tee shot before retiring. Link to story below:

19 putts is outrageous - but as someone said on the other place that just means he missed quite a few greens and chipped close

18 GIR and 19 putts would have given him a 55 so he must've missed quite a few .. still impressive though

Did he have any zero-putts? (chip ins or hole-outs?)

Round 2 Low Round (10 points)
Ricardo Gonzalez -5

Round 2 Worse Round (10 points)

As I've been out of communication until this afternoon, I wasn't aware of what had happened - can't believe Luiten was made to hit a shot but I don't think I can intervene now, unless someone else appeals the decision Crying or Very sad Not a very good week for me!
