RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 - Autumn Session - Event #32 _ Omega European Masters
That seems a bit harsh OPW - a touch rude even considering all the hard work Venice puts in for this competition.
Maybe you should ask for your entry fee back
Anyway, my picks...
CATEGORY A: Paul LAWRIE, Bernd WIESBERGER (res: Marcel SIEM)
CATEGORY B: Stephen GALLACHER, Jbe KRUGER (res: James MORRISON)
CATEGORY C: David HOWELL, Joel SJÖHOLM (res: Rhys DAVIES)

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 - Autumn Session - Event #32 _ Omega European Masters
I'm afraid I agree with OPW on this one. As I am going to be away and unable to pick for the following 2 weeks, and I've lost interest anyway, I'm going to pull out as well.
I appreciate the hard work Venice has done in trying to keep this going, but with no results for several competitions (including a couple a few months back, I think) it is hard to keep an interest going. I am sure people (1GG did offer) would help if he needed it - they just need to be asked.
I will keep a watch out for any disputes which need my Judge's eye.

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 - Autumn Session - Event #32 _ Omega European Masters
I'm happy to post "unofficial" results. I just don't want to tread on Venice's toes after all the work he's put into it.
I think we're missing the French Open, US Womens Open, USPGA, Gleneagles and maybe one other. I'll check back through what we've done.
LP, will need to run a couple of things by you on the US Womens Open. If I remember someone picked Miyazato and there were two in the field.

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 - Autumn Session - Event #32 _ Omega European Masters
To be honest, I've lost interest as well, and have missed a few competitions recently as a result. We need to take a break to allow Venice / Grumpy / AN Other to catch up with the scoring. I don't see the point in running new events as this is just building up the backlog.
I really appreciate all the hard work Venice has put into this, I just think that going forward we need to adopt a less ambitious schedule of events to allow the poor guy enough time to process all the scores.

Some peoples scores take less time to process than others, don't they Grumps!

That's easily solved Grumps. Whichever one scored the least points is the one you picked!

Cheers Grumps. You'll have to be quick - I'll be out of contact for 2 weeks after Friday!I didn't realise someone had just picked Miyazato in the US Women's - there's Ai and Mika. I'll have a look and see.

It was Boyhyde and I pointed it out to him at the time but he didn't amend his pick. I have sent him a PM asking for clarification but as he hasn't been picking lately, I think he's another who has dropped out.
I picked both of them!
I agree with Ray that we need a break now - there's too much of a backlog and people are dropping off at a rate of knots

The only danger with taking a break is that it will be more quiet on here than ever! The less activity there is, the less likely people will continue to return to the site in my opinion...

That's right Norway, they do

I didn't pick either, Blue. And I'll think you'll find I did very well in this one.

I TAKE OFFENCE!! ONE THING I AM NOT, IS RUDE.
So I will expect an apology from you!!!!!
As you see from other posts I am not alone in thinking, I am wasting my time, I do think Venice is correct to put his job first, and do fault him in doing that, but we expect to see the results of the last comp, before we take part in the next one.

Sorry you feel that way OPW but I stand by what I said.
You may not be alone in your thoughts on the matter but (speaking purely for myself) I didn't like the way your post came across. Maybe it was the curse of the written text and you didn't mean it that way, but that's how it sounded to me.
To be honest I understand what some of you are saying but I find it a little disrespectful towards venice who does all this for fun. Nobody gets paid, nobody dies when results aren't published on time.
I take the approach that we'll find out who is winning all in good time - and if not then I still get a little extra enjoyment out of watching a tournament with some extra reason to be cheering people on.
If people don't want to continue entering, that is fine and is their right and their choice - I don't see the point in making their reasons public

I feel for OP, in that I agree that it gets disheartening not getting the results or an update of the leaderboard etc... but I didn't think he mad his point very well... so I can see how Davie also felt that way. A more appropriate post would have asked Venice to consider allowing somebody else to help out in order to bring us up to date. OP was a little abrupt but I am sure he didn't mean to be rude.

It's a bit of fun for me & I am grateful to Venice for putting the work in. I am rubbish at this so the more delay to the results the better except the PGA back in May. I think that I may have done well in that which will make a change.
Don't fall out over this guys. It's not worth it. We all know there are far more important things in life.

I've had a reply from Boyhyde - this is it:1GrumpyGolfer wrote:Thanks LP, Boyhyde did pick a reserve so I'll use the reserve instead of Miyazato

"LadyPutt - to be perfectly honest I can't remember, however, assume it would be Ai Miyazato as I've never heard of the other one!!
Cheers Boyhyde"
I think we can let him have Ai Miyazato in this instance.

I have to say I'm more offended by OPW's excessive use of commas than anything else. I'm not sure I believe in an after life (and I'm not planning on finding out for another 50 years) so I don't know if I shall see you on the other side. But good luck, and I will say au revoir and not adieu.

Thanks for the update, LP. BH should have stuck with his reserve. Cristie Kerr scored more points than Ai

Those who chose David Howell or Rhys Davies made hay in the Swiss sunshine yesterday, it’s almost easier to list those who didn’t pick a Round 1 Top 5 competitor. Although there were others who fell one agonising shot short of making the Top 5 or worst round. Plenty of points still to play for and those without bonus points will be hoping all their players make the cut to earn what could be a crucial 20 bonus points.
1. 8 pros made the Round 1 Top 5 list and two were chosen by fantasy league players

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 - Autumn Session - Event #32 _ Omega European Masters
So round 2 was abandoned due to poor visibility leaving two groups to finish. This doesn't affect Fantasy Leaguers in any way as all their picks have finished and it won't affect low round or high round bonus points either. No one is getting those in round 2, again.
The cut line will not be affected either as according to tournament rules the top 65 players and ties make it through to the weekend. 5 of those 6 players are on that mark or better; they'll have to pay attention tomorrow morning to ensure they stay onto Sunday. Nothing like an improved payday for focusing the mind tomorrow morning.
Spare a thought for Sven Struver, he accumulated the worst round yesterday and, he has to make the decision whether to come back in the morning. He's playing for pride now, he currently sits at +20 and 155th place. He has to avoid dropping 4 shots in his last 2 holes to avoid the distinction of the two worst rounds back to back. If he does finish he is guaranteed not to come last as Paul Waring occupies that spot.
Waring retired after 11 holes today and in doing so screwed Boyhyde's chances of making 6/6 through into the weekend. His last two holes were triple, double. That's great for a basketball player but not so good for a professional golfer.

Round 2 saw Mary_S spring to the front of the pack opening up a 5 point lead over the chasing bunch. Her joy tempered by the disappointment that is Henrik Stenson. He was well on track to make the cut and lead Mary_S to a perfect six until an 8 on the par 4 4th derailed his round after 13 holes. He managed another birdie but couldn’t find another to miss the cut by one shot.
No one else came close to making it a perfect six and as expected bonus points for low or worst round were left on the table. Nobody picked Julien Quesne who catapulted himself up into the halfway lead with a fine -6 65. Amateur Michael Thannhaeuser struggled to the worst round of the day with a +13 84. Sven Struver may have dropped shots on his last two holes but he hung on to avoid the ignominy of worst round two days running.
What will moving day bring?

Those who chose David Howell or Rhys Davies made hay in the Swiss sunshine yesterday, it’s almost easier to list those who didn’t pick a Round 1 Top 5 competitor. Although there were others who fell one agonising shot short of making the Top 5 or worst round. Plenty of points still to play for and those without bonus points will be hoping all their players make the cut to earn what could be a crucial 20 bonus points.
1. 8 pros made the Round 1 Top 5 list and two were chosen by fantasy league players
2. Nobody selected Gregory Bourdy who shot the best round of the day
3. Nobody selected Sven Struver who shot the worse round of the day

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 - Autumn Session - Event #32 _ Omega European Masters
Bad news for those of you who picked Chris Wood. He's had to withdraw as his back has "gone" - due to standing around in the cold conditions this morning. Let's hope it's something that can soon be rectified.
