It was tight all the way around Amen Corner and into the back nine on Sunday. After battling hard over four days LadyPutt coaxed and cajoled her two picks to top 5 placings and a photo finish with RedRage. After the playoff only one could don the green jacket and it's looking mighty fine on LadyPutt's shoulders. Her quality versus RedRage's quantity won the day; RedRage had three of his picks score finish points but only one was in the top 10 and his highest placing was 8th. With two 5th place finishes LadyPutt stood victorius. Commiserations to RedRage.
Mary_S and Davie both had two picks score points and they leapfrogged SetupDetermines who could only manage one points finisher. Both BlueCoverman and 1GrumpyGolfer needed good finishes from their remaining pick and Rory McIlroy overtook Jason Day so 1GrumpyGolfer snuck above BlueCoverman.
Joost Luiten shot 67 for the best round of the day. Kevin Streelman and Larry Mize both shot 79 for the worst round. The 79 cemented last place for Larry Mize who finished at +16. Luke Goss was confirmed as Low Amateur.

It's getting tight at the first major of the year as a few can see themselves donning the green jacket on Sunday. Only 12 players managed to beat par on Saturday and half of the remaining picks did just that. Everyone scored points and with LadyPutt having both of her remaining picks in the points she has joined SetupDetermines and RedRage at the top of the leaderboard. Mary_S and Davie also had two picks in the points and they are in close proximity to those three. BlueCoverman and 1GrumpyGolfer are doing their best but with just one pick left it's going to be tough to keep up.
Miguel Angel Jiminez rolled back the years to shoot a tournament best 66. Stephen Gallacher was among those that struggled and he had an 81 to pip Brandt Snedeker to the worst round by one shot.
Five picks are in the top 10 and they could determine who is looking fine in a snazzy green jacket on Sunday evening.

The race for Low Amateur is over and Luke Goss is your winner; Matthew Fitzpatrick had a chance to extend the amateur competition into the weekend but his birdie attempt on the last slid past the hole. For some Fantasy Leaguers their race was almost over too as picks fell by the wayside. Potential favourites missed the cut and old timers remain standing. RedRage fared the best with four of his picks continuing. Davie and Mary_S each have three picks left. SetupDetermines and LadyPutt each have two picks. 1GrumpyGolfer and BlueCoverman are left with just one pick.
Four players shot 68 to tie for low round. Bubba Watson, John Senden, Jim Furyk, and Thomas Bjorn all had 68s. Ben Crenshaw had the worst round of the day with an 85.
RedRage and SetupDetermines are tied for the lead with LadyPutt in close proximity. The rest of the Fantasy Leaguers are vying to avoid the bottom spot.

The golf season has started and mixed scoring ensued for the first round of the Masters. Some of the favourites didn't start very well, I'm thinking of you Jason Dufner, and the defending champion is back in a good position. Only 26 players are at even par or better and just 19 are actually under par. The worse score didn't come from one of old timers but Branden Grace who had an 84. The best round came from Bill Haas and was just 68. A score of 70 was enough to make the Top 5 Low Round scores. Three picks scored 70 or less; Marc Leishman was a popular pick and he earned points for four Fantasy Leaguers, 1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, LadyPutt, and SetupDetermines. Brandt Snedeker and Louis Oosthuizen also scored 70 or less; RedRage and SetupDetermines were the beneficiaries of their good play.
In the race for Low Amateur three amateurs are tied at +4. Two of them are Fantasy League picks in Matthew Fitzpatrick and Garrick Porteous, the other pick in the Low Amateur race Chang-Woo Lee is at +8.

It’s that time of year again as we head to Georgia for the Masters. The unofficial start to the season is upon us as the world almost steps back in time by crossing the threshold and onto Magnolia Lane. In this genteel place the golfing vocabulary changes, where there is no rough or spectators but different cuts and patrons. Pristine manicured fairways and flowerbeds set the scene for the tournament which really only gets serious on the back nine on Sunday. This is where players will negotiate the swirling winds of Amen corner and listen to the roars generated by those on a charge and hopefully make their own to don a green jacket on the 18th green.
There are 97 entrants to this year’s tournament; the final entrant, Matt Jones, claimed his place in dramatic fashion by winning the playoff at the Shell Houston Open. There is a very top heavy field; 49 of the top 50 are at Augusta. The only one to miss out is the number one player Tiger Woods. In the field are 24 first timers, 6 amateurs, 19 past champions, and a father/son combination; it will be interesting to see if they are paired together in the first two rounds.
With the limited field we are back to two picks plus reserve. No additional cut bonus points will be awarded in this instance, the only cut bonus to apply is for all six picks through to the third round.
There are six amatuers in the field, idenitfied by (Am) after their name, so we will have a separate pick for Low Amateur. The Low Amateur pick does not have to be one of your Cat C picks unless you so desire. 30 points will be on offer for correctly picking the Low Amateur; if no amateurs make the cut then no points will be awarded.
This is a full field event with cut; cut bonuses will be in effect.

Surely if its top heavy, it would be much more fun with 3 picks & 1 res from each Cat ?

Golf season proper will start in just under two hours with Stewart Cink and Tim Clark getting us underway. My course is opening up tomorrow, I have the day off, and everything is right with the world.

Love The Masters, it really is something special. Always feels like Spring is really here when you hear Peter Allis talking about those Azaleas!

Webb Simpson opens up with two birdies in his first two holes to take the lead so far. Stewart Cink and Tim Clark are close to entering Amen corner; Cink currently 6 shots better off than Clark at one under.
None or our picks are under par at the moment.

Simpson on the birdie train, -3 after 3. Crenshaw on the bogey train, level after 3 and now +5 through 8. Fowler the first pick to reach red numbers.

You and me both LP. The 12th took some bites out of Crenshaw and Niebrugge; both made 6s. The baby walrus is the only one that's birdied 12 so far. Clark and Cink almost through 17.

Ken Duke with the first eagle of the day, I think, at 13. Some nice glassware will be in his locker tonight. Jason Dufner with the first quadruple bogey of the day, also at 13, duffing up my chances and a few others in the fantasy league.

Freddie Couples with shades of 1992 on the 12th. His tee shot didn't carry far enough and rolled back over the hazard line but stays dry. Could that be an omen for Freddie?

My 7 picks managed to knock in round in 45 over par!
Meanwhile Darren Clark, Bernhard Langer, Sandy Lyle, Larry Mize and Jose Maria Olazabal make the cut whilst Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Graeme McDowell and Phil Mickelson take the weekend off. All of which goes to prove once again that betting on the Masters is a mugs game.

The lowest score is 5 points for one player making the cut. If Day or McIlroy had missed out we still would have been okay due to Leishman's top 5 score in round 1.
Must admit if McIlroy wasn't playing the weekend I might have been hard pushed to finish off the admin

Rory playing with a marker
I see he was out partying with Poulter and McDowell last night, so presumably he's obviously not harboring much hope of an assault on the leaderboard today?

Thanks Davie, yes it was exactly that. Had a poor start, bogey, double-bogey but played pretty solid after that and holed a few putts which always helps!

Sorry, not sure that a net score counts in the Top10 Low Round scores. Good shooting though
I had 36 on the back today but the front wasn't too clever

I don't like to boast Grumps, but at the other end of the table and in the battle to avoid the wooden spoon, I am currently beating you by 3 shots
