Four GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers ended up with a finsh placing and they were all tied for 8th. That made no difference to Mary_S as she strolled to victory in this low scoring event. 1GrumpyGolfer tied the unwanted GolfChatUK Fantasy League record with just 5 points, lucky for him Ross Fisher made the cut or it could have been very embarrassing.
Soren Kjeldsen shot 66 and his low round of the day was enough to move into third place. Magnus A Carlsson shot 81 but that wasn't enough to give him the worse round, last place combo; Andrew Dodt finished last after his round of 80. No one picked any of these players so no bonus points were awarded for the final round.

More difficult scoring saw the cut line move higher and higher much to the relief of some GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers. Over 100 players were worse than par in round two and only 27 players managed to break par but at the end of the day less than 20 remained under par for the tournament. Only Mary_S and SetupDetermines had more than half of their picks make it to the weekend. Davie had three picks. RedRage and BlueCoverman had two picks. LadyPutt and 1GrumpyGolfer stayed alive with one pick. Both 1GrumpyGolfer and BlueCoverman were affected by retirements and withdrawals; both lost two picks that way.
The low round score was 67 and that was matched by Graeme Storm, Thomas Levet, and Craig Lee. Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Peter Whiteford both had 84 which was the worst score. Only Aphibarnrat was picked from this bunch so SetupDetermines earns 10 points for his poor performance.

It was a difficult day of scoring all around for the pros and the GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers. Only 26 pros managed to break par which included 4 picks whilst 108 failed to and that number contained almost two thirds of the picks. Mary_S and RedRage scored points for the right reasons having picked Chris Wood who is in a tie for second at the moment. LadyPutt also scored but not for good reasons; her pick of Manasori Kobayashi shot 88 which was the worse score by far, I mean four. Espen Kofstad had the round of the day with a 64, his back nine took just 29 shots to complete. 67 would have made the Top 5 Low Round Scores and the majority of picks were nowhere near that.
Only half the picks are within the cut line at the moment; this could be a low scoring event for many Fantasy Leaguers.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

I'm on my own this time as LordPutt is on the golf course again - I wish I was retired!
Cat A: Miguel Angel Jimenez & Brett Rumford (res Bernd Wiesberger)
Cat B: Danny Willett & Steve Webster (res Ross Fisher)
Cat C: Manasori Kobayashi & Richard Finch (res James Morrison)
Grumps, I am away next week (again, I know) so can you give me numbers 2 and 7 in each category with 12 as the reserve?
Off to Bonny Scotland to look at property, golf courses and other delights with an eye to retirement in just over two years' time.

It was a difficult day of scoring all around for the pros and the GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers. Only 26 pros managed to break par which included 4 picks whilst 108 failed
to and that number contained almost two thirds of the picks. Mary_S and RedRage scored points for the right reasons having picked Chris Wood who is in a tie for second at
the moment. LadyPutt also scored but not for good reasons; her pick of Manasori Kobayashi shot 88 which was the worse score by far, I mean four. Espen Kofstad had the
round of the day with a 64, his back nine took just 29 shots to complete. 67 would have made the Top 5 Low Round Scores and the majority of picks were nowhere near that.
Only half the picks are within the cut line at the moment; this could be a low scoring event for many Fantasy Leaguers.

Thanks for the update GG. Dizzy heights for me at the moment, not usually at that end of the table.
I see that Chris Wood is teeing off at 13.15, so should be able to catch him on the afternoon coverage. Fingers crossed that I haven't jinxed him this time.

Fixed it Setup, you now have your points for Aphibarnrat. There were no changes to your cut points as it was Wiesberger (left over from last week) rather than Rumford as your errant player. Apologies, Grumps

Well GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers sure know how to pick a dodgy player. For the third day running the player with the worse round was a GolfChatUK Fantasy League pick. I'm not sure if we're putting the kiss of death on the player or we're just not very good with our picks. In the third round Andrew Marshall, Mary_S's pick, had an 81. The best round was from Peter Hedblom with a 66. The Top 10 Low Round scores were 69 or better and BlueCoverman's pick of Gonzalo Fdez-Castano earned him 10 points.

Forget all that - we never made it!1GrumpyGolfer wrote:Does this mean normal service will be resumedLadyPutt wrote:I'm on my own this time as LordPutt is on the golf course again - I wish I was retired! Will do LP, enjoy!LadyPutt wrote:Grumps, I am away next week (again, I know) so can you give me numbers 2 and 7 in each category with 12 as the reserve?
Off to Bonny Scotland to look at property, golf courses and other delights with an eye to retirement in just over two years' time.
Car started playing up (strange intermittent power surges) about 20 miles from home on Saturday but we thought it would be OK. Stopped at Leeds for an overnight break and called the AA just to be safe - he said the clutch was going! Decided to try and make it back home the next day but got only about a quarter of the way there when there was a violent power surge then an almighty clunk and the rev counter went back to normal (we were doing about 90 in the outside lane at the time on the M1). Kept going then LordPutt thought he'd try the clutch pedal and see if there was a problem. It went straight to the floor and stayed there ! I checked the map and we were 11 miles from the next service station so we carried on (stuck in 6th gear) and just made it into the lorry park of the Leicester Forest East service station where LordPutt somehow ( ) managed to knock it out of gear and into neutral. Called the AA for the Relay recovery and it took them 3 changes of flatbed truck to get us home (and about 8 hours!). We're going to try again in October ....
So I'll do my own picks on Wednesday - just hope for better luck than this week - but at least most of everyone's picks were c**p as well

Gosh LadyP - that sounds like a rather hair raising journey. Bonus points for LordP, keeping things under control.
Thanks to my fellow FL competitors, for all having a bad week at the same time - allowing me to scrape home with a WIN!
Thanks for the updates GG.
