In the end no one could catch BlueCoverman as he strolled to victory courtesy of a 1-2 finish from Brandt Snedeker and Dustin Johnson. He added Charley Hoffman to the mix but he didn't need the insurance. His closest challenger was 1GrumpyGolfer who also had a 1-2 through Snedeker and Matt Kuchar. Snedeker, Johnson, and Kuchar were popular picks among the GolfChatUK community. Only SetupDetermines and Mary_S didn't pick any of the high finishers.
Rory Sabbatini had the round of the day with a relatively high round of 67. Alistair Presnell had the worse round with a relatively low round of 78. Brian Gay finished in last place. No one picked any of those players so no bonus points were awarded.

Low scoring continued aplenty and the best rounds of the day came from the GolfChatUK picks of Dustin Johnson and Brandt Snedeker. The only ones not to pick one of those two were Mary_S and SetupDetermines. BlueCoverman had both of those to further extend his lead at the top of the leaderboard. There was an MDF cut and we said goodbye to Graeme McDowell, we had earlier said congratulations to Hunter Mahan who withdrew as Mrs Mahan had gone into labour. Mary_S lost both of those players and SetupDetermines and Davie lost one each. The worse round of the day came from another MDF'er; Ryo Ishikawa, he shot 80.
Six of the top nine players are GolfChatUK picks so there are beaucoup de finish points in play at the moment; can anyone catch BlueCoverman?

Low scoring continued at the Canadian Open and there was some turnaround from Graeme McDowell and Camilo Villegas as they charged up the leaderboard courtesy of fine 65s. However they were still three shots off the best round of the day from John Merrick. The poorest round was produced by Eric Banks who had an 84.
BlueCoverman became the first GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguer to achieve the perfect six in only the second event of the Summer-Autumn session. Those bonus points were enough to give him the lead going into the weekend. 1GrumpyGolfer, Mary_S, and RedRage just missed out with five picks through and Davie, LadyPutt, and SetupDetermines all had four picks.
Their might be an MDF as over 70 players made it through to the weekend but I'm not sure...

Low scoring was the theme of the day for the first round of the Canadian Open but someone forget to tell all of the pros. Brendan Steele had the round of the day with a 65 and to make the Top 5 Low Scores you had to shoot 67 or lower and three picks did. Take a bow, Matt Kuchar, David Lingmerth, and Hunter Mahan. Everyone except BlueCoverman and LadyPutt had one of those three players. Woody Austin, last weeks PGA Tour winner, and Derek Ernst didn't get the low scoring memo, they both had 82s.

After the Lord Mayor's Show that was the Open sees the GolfChatUK Fantasy League move across the pond to the PGA Tour and the RBC Canadian Open. There's a mixed bag of pros playing; the top 5 are sitting this one out and seven of the top 20 are actually playing. Scott Piercy is back as defending champion.
The venue is Glen Abbey Golf Club which has hosted this event the majority of the time. It was also here that Tiger Woods hit one of the greatest fairway bunker shots on the final hole to set up a chance to win which he duly converted.
This is a full field event with cut; cut bonuses will be in effect.

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best
finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s). If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Thanks Setup, I'll update the original post with the field changes.
Jerry Kelly and Shawn Stefani affect Cat B. All other changes affect Cat C.
The withdrawal of Sean O'Hair means that LadyPutt's Cat C reserve will now be Erik Compton.

I wouldn't have thought so unless they started a day early and in the dark. I posted at 10:10pm ET so 3:10am BST. Seeing as the first tee time was 7:00am ET or noon BST I posted very early for me

Quick update:
Those who picked one of Kuchar, Lingmerth, or Mahan: well done, have 10 points. Those who didn't: oh well, there's always round 2

He finished with a 65 and so did Villegas. Both eclipsed by John Merrick who shot 62!
