For GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers Fabrizio and Francesco were popular picks and scored the majority of the finish points for most of the Fantasy Leaguers.  Mary_S made a big move through the additional points from Hennie Otto.  However a surprise charge by Julien Quesne shocked the faltering leaders and took victory for 1GrumpyGolfer.

The low round was 66 again and this time it was from David Horsey.  The worse round of the day came from Graeme Storm and Peter Erofejeff; they both had 79s.  It got worse for Erofejeff as his round caused him to finish dead last.  No one picked any of these so no bonus points were awarded in the final round.

Thankfully there were some scoring opportunities in round 3.  69 or better got you into the Top 10 Low Round scores. 3 picks had that score or better and they were Bernd Wiesberger, Matteo Manassero, and Fabrizio Zanotti.  That meant LadyPutt was looking good with two of those picks.  RedRage and SetupDetermines remain in close proximity to LadyPutt being just 10 points behind.  BlueCoverman and Davie picked up points too.  Mary_S and 1GrumpyGolfer slip to the bottom of the leaderboard after failing to pick up any bonus points.

The low round was 66 and Romain Wattel and Scott Hend had that score.  Tano Goya shot 80 and that was the worse round of the day.

Scoring was a bit better after round two but that's only because cut points were available.  No one managed the full set with LadyPutt, RedRage, and SetupDetermines all missing out by one pick.  Robert Rock and Oliver Fisher were the picks that caused the anguish for most GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers.  Everyone else had two picks miss out on the weekend.  65 seems to be the lowest score that the course will yield; Mark Foster had a 65 in round 2.  Chad Stumpo improved his round 1 score by 11 shots yet still had the worse round of the day with an 83.

Thankfully more scoring opportunities present themselves in round 3, fingers crossed.

To score points today you either needed to shoot 67, or less, or 94.  Safe to say it's big, fat, lonely zeros being shared all round by the GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers.  Fresh off his bout of man 'flu, Nicolas Colsaerts shares the lead at -7 with Ricardo Gonzalez and Maximillian Kieffer.  Amateur Chad Stumpo was baffled and bemused by the course with his sky high round of 94.  He's 14 shots off of the penultimate man.

Let's hope for better scoring in round 2.

Due to the late finish of the PGA Tour's BMW Championship the OWGR updates have not been completed yet.  This placeholder will be updated once the OWGR has been published for this week.

This is the 70th edition of the Italian Open and this tournament is one of seven that have featured every year on the European Tour.  Nine former champions are in the field including two time winner and defending champion Gonzalo FDez-Castano.  The other previous winners are: Robert Rock, Fredrik Andersson Hed, Hennie Otto, Francesco Molinari, Steve Webster, Mathias Gronberg, Gregory Havret, and Patrick Sjoland.

The field looks to be a little smaller than usual with only 146 players entered so far according to the European Tour Website, Shane Lowry appears to withdrwan in the last 24 hours. The field is headlined by three Italians fittingly enough; Matteo Manassero and Francesco Molinari are the only players within the Top 50 in the OWGR, Gonzalo FDez-Castano is just outside the Top 50.  

This is a full field event with cut; cut bonuses will be in effect.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.  Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

For GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers Fabrizio and Francesco were popular picks and scored the majority of the finish points for most of the Fantasy Leaguers. Mary_S made a big move through the additional points from Hennie Otto. However a surprise charge by Julien Quesne shocked the faltering leaders and took victory for 1GrumpyGolfer.

The low round was 66 again and this time it was from David Horsey. The worse round of the day came from Graeme Storm and Peter Erofejeff; they both had 79s. It got worse for Erofejeff as his round caused him to finish dead last. No one picked any of these so no bonus points were awarded in the final round.

I was going to pick Havret and then I realised that my Cat B picks would have been the same as yours. Quick check of the KLM leaderboard and saw Quesne had done okay so I thought I'd give him a go. After the third round I had no expectations of him finishing that high, let alone winning. Surprised the hell out of me when I looked at the leaderboard yesterday afternoon. I saw the other picks hadn't really finished that high and thought I might have sneaked this, pleasantly surprised when I collated the results yesterday evening.
