Well after three rounds it was always going to be something of a procession at Firestone. The battle for second place was where the interest was really going to be. In the end second place was a tie between Keegan Bradley and Henrik Stenson. GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers picked 10 of the top twenty finishers including the top four spots. There were also three Fantasy Leaguers who had a 1-2 finish combo. LadyPutt and BlueCoverman both had one pick in the scoring zone but the difference in pick meant a big difference in points; LadyPutt's was fourth and BlueCoverman's was first. Davie's blushes were spared as two picks finshed in the top twenty earning him a sizeable haul of 30 points. Mary_S, SetupDetermines, and RedRage each had three picks. SetupDetermines and RedRage were two of those who ended with the 1-2 finish combo so they were able to pull away from Mary_S. 1GrumpyGolfer however had four picks finish in the points, including the 1-2 finish combo, his pick of Jim Furyk was enough to overhaul RedRage and take top spot. Both 1GrumpyGolfer and SetupDetermines were also aided by one of the rounds of the day from Russell Henley. His 66 earned them low round bonus points.
Webb Simpson, Martin Kaymer, and Billy Horschel also had 66s, this was the second time that Simpson had low round at Firestone. Daniel Popovic had an unwanted double; he had the worst round, again, this time with an 82. This also meant that he finished plum last, some 49 shots behind Tiger Woods.
Next week brings the final major of the year in the form of the USPGA and the chance to earn beaucoup points.

Points galore for the GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers in round 3, sorry Davie, as the points were spread across five of the picks. RedRage fared the best with three picks in the points and that was enough for him to breakaway at the head of the leaderboard. 1GrumpyGolfer and BlueCoverman are now his closest challengers as they each had two picks. SetupDetermines and Mary_S kept their points ticking over with one pick and LadyPutt got off the mark too.
Charl Schwartzel had the round of the day with a 64 and Toru Taniguchi had the worst with a 79. Over half of the picks are in finish scoring positions at the moment; will anyone catch RedRage, will Davie get off the mark?

No change in the awarding of points after round 2. All those who scored in round 1 did so again in round 2 courtesy of the big cat that is Tiger Woods. His round of 61 is the round of the tournament so far and might have even started the engraver already. He holds a 7 shot lead over Keegan Bradley and Chris Wood. The worse round of the day did not come from the worse player, Daniel Popovic, but Jaco Van Zyl who eclipsed the mark from round 1. He ended the day with an 82!
Round 3 brings a greater chance for Davie and LadyPutt to get off the mark with 10 low round scores paying out points.

18 players broke par in round 1 of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers picked seven of those players. Four of them made the promised land which is the Top 5 Low Round scores. This earned points for 1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, RedRage, and SetupDetermines who each had two picks and then Mary_S who had one pick. Davie and LadyPutt are yet to get off the mark.
The low round came from Webb Simpson who shot 64, the high round was from the lowest ranked player in the field, Daniel Popovic, he had 79.

The Bridgestone Invitational is taking place, as usual, at the Firestone Country Club. This par 70, 7,400 yard layout has seen Tiger Woods emerge victorious on seven occasions however the last was in 2009. Keegan Bradley is the defending champion after pipping Jim Furyk last year. The field is strong as ever for a WGC with 48 of the top 50 ranked players are here. Louis Oosthuizen, ranked 12, misses out through injury and David Lynn, ranked 50, does not appear to have taken up his invite for making the Top 50. Hunter Mahan may also be a doubt following the birth of his daughter.
This is a limited field event without a cut; cut bonuses will not be in effect.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League - Summer/Autumn Session - Event #03 Bridgestone
I'm not sure Setup but I think I would have pipped RedRage with the original picks. I suppose this means I should thank Blue for moaning about my picks....
UPDATE: Stenson scored points in the third round and Bradley didn't so RedRage would have sneaked victory by 10 points. Definitely have to thank Blue now
