With GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers picking the winner for the fourth event in a row there was little anyone could do to prevent RedRage from taking the USPGA title. The 1-3 finish from Jason Dufner and Henrik Stenson sealed the win from his nearest challenger, BlueCoverman. BlueCoverman could only muster a 1-8 finish from Dufner and Zach Johnson. 1GrumpyGolfer was the biggest mover and points scorer with three of his picks in the finish points courtesy of Dufner, Stenson, and Johnson. Davie also picked Dufner and LadyPutt had picked Stenson. Mary_S had two picks finish in the points through Rory McIlroy and Ricky Fowler. SetupDetermines had none.
The round of the day came from Scott Piercy with a 65. Darren Clarke had an 80 and he ended with the worse round, last place combo. No one picked either of these so bonus points were awarded.
The GolfChatUK Fantasy League stays Stateside as there is no European Tour event this week. The Wyndham Championship will be the final PGA Tour event for Fantasy Leaguers this year and is also the event that will set the field for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

I'm not sure about Moving Day but maybe Hokey Cokey Day, shake it all about, fits better. Scores were all over the place in Round 3, some big names collapsed, some big names made a bit of a move, plus some lesser known players sneaking about under the radar. In the end, when the dust settled RedRage now has a distinct advantage over BlueCoverman at the top of the leaderboard. LadyPutt, hitched up her skirt and, made a charge too; they both had two picks in the Top 10 Low Scores. 1GrumpyGolfer, Mary_S, and SetupDetermines also had one pick score points. BlueCoverman sneaked into the points by opting for the worse round bonus points.
Dustin Johnson had the round of the day with a 65 and Gary Woodland the worst with an 80. Only Woodland was picked by a Fantasy Leaguer. The Top 10 Low Scores were shared by 11 pros and a round of 69 or lower got you into that select group.
Six picks are in the finish points at the moment and a couple are close by; will GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers have picked the winner for the fourth event in a row? Can anyone catch RedRage?

GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers lost five picks for the weekend; four missed the cut and one withdrew. However the loss of picks only affected four Fantasy Leaguers. BlueCoverman, Davie, and RedRage all had the perfect six earning plenty of points and a share of the lead at this halfway stage. Everyone else lost a pick to the cut line but LadyPutt also suffered from the withdrawal of another pick.
Jason Dufner shot a course record 63 and that earned bonus points for 1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, Davie, and RedRage. Three of the Club Pros had the worse round; Bob Sowards, Mark Brown, and Lee Rhind all had 82s. The race for the Best Club Professional is over as all twenty Club Pros missed the cut.

The was some low scoring and high scoring from GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks at the USPGA Championship. On the positive side Lee Westwood and Paul Casey scored Low Round points for everyone except 1GrumpyGolfer. Women's intuition from LadyPutt has meant that she holds the lead at the moment as she picked both Westwood and Casey. The low round was 65 and that was posted by Jim Furyk and Adam Scott. The worst round came from one of the Club Professionals; Chip Sullivan, he had 84.
In the race for the Best Club Professional there seemed to be some misunderstanding by GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers as they seemed to pick the worst Club Pro not the best. RedRage and Davie have fared the best with their pick of Danny Balin who is at +3 but he is still 2 shots away from the cut line.

The final major of the year will be played out at Oak Hill Country Club in New York. As usual this is one of the strongest fields that we see in majors with 99 out of the top 100 players having entered. Louis Oosthuizen, ranked 16, is the player that is missing due to injury. Oak Hill has hosted many major championships in the past including the US Open, US Amateur, USPGA, Ryder Cup, Senior US Open and Senior USPGA. It last held the USPGA 10 years ago when Shaun Micheel closed out the win in emphatic style with a fabulous 7 iron approach shot to a matter of inches. Micheel is back in the field along with a number of former USPGA champions. The two Ryder Cup captains for Gleneagles are playing and the 2013 major champions have been grouped together. The field strength is somewhat tempered by the inclusion of club professionals.
There are 20 club professionals taking part, identified by (CP) after their name, so we will have a separate pick for the Best Club Professional. The Best Club Professional pick does not have to be one of your Cat C picks unless you so desire. 30 points will be on offer for correctly picking the Best Club Professional; if no club professionals make the cut then no points will be awarded.
This is a full field event with cut; cut bonuses will be in effect.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Pick 1 Club Professional indicated by (CP) after name
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Anyone in the US care to enlighten me on any of the CPs or are we just picking blind as usual?

Well, the fact that Mike Small is ranked at 1554 in the OWGR and the others are either ranked at 1563 (lowest possible ranking) or not ranked at all would suggest he's the best.
Blue, I would love to provide a detailed write up for you but feel that wouldn't be fair to RedRage as he has already picked....

Mark Brooks 1563

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League – Summer/Autumn Session - Event #04 USPGA
Mark Brooks is lowly ranked and messed up my plan to have all the CPs together. He's a former USPGA champion, which is probably why he's in the field, he also missed a stupidly short putt trying to get out of the way of Retief Goosen in the US Open. If he hadn't missed that putt he would have ended up in the playoff with Goosen and someone else. Goosen then missed his own short putt that meant he had to go into a playoff but it worked out alright for him in the end.

Cat B: Webb Simpson & Angel Cabrera (res Nick Watney)
Cat C: Paul Casey & Pablo Larrazabal (res Josh Teater)

Woah, I just suggested that his OWGR position suggested that he's was the best.

In today's consumer protected and evermore litigious society you simply cannot hide behind smallprint Grumps. I too picked Mike Small solely due to your quite clear recommendation and if he fails to perform there is no doubt that you will hear from my solicitor

Scores for the first of the first round finishers are just coming through and Setup's CP isn't last anymore. After getting to +8 after the first nine he steadied the ship with a level par back nine. Bo Van Pelt currently +10 and last.

I thought I saw that on Golf Channel last night.
Now Grumps can get all his CraP players all-in-a-row.

He did withdraw Setup. JJ Henry came in to replace him but the tournament had already started when I saw that so I couldn't be bothered to line up all the CraP players.
Bo Van Pelt has also withdrawn, Davie, must have been something to do with his CraP round!

Should be an interesting evening, will Westwood and McIlroy playing together spur each other on to make an assault on the leaders? Hope that Furyk isn't too slow today - I want to be in bed before midnight!
