Simon Khan led the GolfChatUK Fantasy League charge earning mucho points for 1GrumpyGolfer and RedRage. His round of 66 matched the rounds of the week and added another 20 points to the kitty. Mary_S and RedRage had one finisher in the points, Davie and LadyPutt also had two in the top 10 and 1GrumpyGolfer had three of his picks earn points. SetupDetermines and BlueCoverman took the weekend off.

Greig Hutcheon had the worse round of the day with a 79 and Robert Coles, Scott Drummond, and Jose Maria Olazabal finished last. No one picked any of these players so lots of bonus points were not awarded.

The GolfChatUK Fantasy League crosses back to the PGA Tour and the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village. There looks to be a strong field gathering for this event in the lead up to the US Open in a couple of weeks.

Yet again the overnight leader struggles the next day and slips down the leaderboard. Lee Westwood must be thankful that Alejandro Canizares finished birdie, birdie to take a 1 shot lead into Sunday. There was some good scoring to be had at Wentworth but only two of the GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks got in on the act. One was Lee Westwood and the other was Ross Fisher. LadyPutt, RedRage, Mary_S, and 1GrumpyGolfer earned points and a slight change in the leaderboard standings occurred; 1GrumpyGolfer leapfrogged Davie after Davie had snuck into the lead after round 2.

Jose Maria Olazabal and Julien Quesne had the worse rounds of the day with 78s. Richie Ramsey matched the round of the week with a 66. No one picked any of these so no bonus points were awarded for these feats.

Carnage ensued at the PGA Championship in round two as two thirds of the GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks failed to make the cut at Wentworth. BlueCoverman turned out to be unloooky in his picks as only one number came up. SetupDetermines matched him with one and Mary_S had two picks. RedRage, LadyPutt, and Davie had three picks through and 1GrumpyGolfer was the most successful with four.

The low rounds of the day were 68s and pick Francesco Molinari was one of those with at 68. Davie and LadyPutt were the beneficiaries of his good work. Wen-Chong Liang also had a 68 but no one picked him. Scott Henderson had another tough round and was three shots worse than round 1. His 85 was matched by S.S.P. Chowrasia. No one picked either of these so no bonus points were awarded here.

With only nine picks in play everyone could have low round bonus points from moving day.

After a weather delay the first round finished on Friday and James Kingston was the only GolfChatUK Fantasy League pick that got in on the points. He shot 66 for low round of the day and earned points for 1GrumpyGolfer and Davie. RedRage suffered a quick bout of LPRPitis as Kingston was one of his reserves. The low round scores were 68 or lower and a couple of picks just missed out with 69s. The worse round was an 82 from Scott Henderson.

Round 2 is well underway and there will be several unlooooky GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers ruing picking Luke Donald after a dismal attempt at a three-peat.

The European Tour flagship event brings us to Wentworth on a Bank Holiday weekend. It’s a strong field including 4 of the top 10 players in the world including recent Volvo Matchplay champion Graeme McDowell. In total 19 of the top 50 players are taking part. 11 of the 12 Ryder Cup heroes are reuniting with team captain Jose Maria Olazabal, the only one missing is Peter Hanson. Luke Donald is the defending champion and his victory last year made him only the third player to record back to back wins in this tournament behind Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie. Donald will be hoping to match Montgomerie again as he goes for the three-peat.

Yet again there have been some changes to the course; the fairway bunker on the left hand side of six has been removed and the run off area on 17 has also been removed.

This is a full field event with cut; cut bonuses will be in effect.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

I debated between picking Kingston or Green and went for Green

It's going to be hard to make it a three-peat for Looooke if he doesn't regroup after the rain delay. +5 through 11, maybe Blue wasn't such a Looooky Barsteward after all.

I'm at work just a few miles down the road from Wentworth - that weather that just passed through was EVIL - seems a bit brighter out there again now though

One and a half hour delay due to "threat" of lightning - it's a bit OTT isn't it? These heavy showers have been going through at a rate of knots all day - one minute its raining , the next the sun's out .

Normally I'd agree with you LP - but it really did look very threatening for a while out there

Well darkness stops play with 5 groups still on the course. One of those players is Simon Wakefield who is one of Davie's picks.

Play is resuming at 8:30 local time so leaderboard updates will take place soon after round 1 completes.

Cold and wet here in London - don't expect it will be much fun for players or spectators today. Glad I'll be watching on TV later (when I escape from work early - after a birthday lunch).

Could be a quiet weekend on the fantasy league; as the cut line stands at the moment only 11 picks will make it through from the 27 chosen.

Not a good week for the fantasy leaguers; only 9 picks make it through to the weekend.

Simon Khan led the GolfChatUK Fantasy League charge earning mucho points for 1GrumpyGolfer and RedRage. His round of 66 matched the rounds of the week and added another 20 points to the kitty. Mary_S and RedRage had one finisher in the points, Davie and LadyPutt also had two in the top 10 and 1GrumpyGolfer had three of his picks earn points. SetupDetermines and BlueCoverman took the weekend off.

Greig Hutcheon had the worse round of the day with a 79 and Robert Coles, Scott Drummond, and Jose Maria Olazabal finished last. No one picked any of these players so lots of bonus points were not awarded.

The GolfChatUK Fantasy League crosses back to the PGA Tour and the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village. There looks to be a strong field gathering for this event in the lead up to the US Open in a couple of weeks.
