The high winds put paid to most GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks and gave Louis Oosthuizen a bad neck. Only five picks made it into the scoring positions and points were at a premium unless you’re Mary_S or RedRage. After four rounds there was nothing to separate their points score so we had a match of picks:
Mary_S: Keegan Bradley: 2nd place. RedRage: snap.
Mary_S: Ricky Barnes: 12th place. RedRage: snap.
Mary_S: Angel Cabrera: 12th place. RedRage: Marc Leishman 12th place; snap
Mary_S: Will Claxton: 27th place. RedRage: Damn, Kenny Perry: 33rd place
One shot separated Claxton from Perry and that was enough to earn Mary_S the victory in the high winds of Texas.
LadyPutt had two finishers in the points, BlueCoverman and SetupDetermines had one pick in the points. Davie and 1GrumpyGolfer were both too busy celebrating St Totteringham’s Day to care.
Event 6 sees a return to the European Tour as we visit to Wentworth for the PGA Championship.

Plenty of GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks got in amongst the Top 10 Low Round scoring and BlueCoverman was the big mover, he now shares top spot with Mary_S and RedRage. He wasn’t the biggest points scorer; that was 1GrumpyGolfer who had three picks in the Top 10 Low Scores including one of the Low Round shooters in Jason Day.
The low score was 66 and five pros had that score; Jason Day, Sang-Moon Bae (his third in a row), Scott Piercy, Jerry Kelly, and Morgan Hoffmann. Jason Day also earned points for BlueCoverman and Davie. The worse rounds were 76s from Vijay Singh and Patrick Reed; no one picked either of those so no bonus points were awarded for that stat. We also said goodbye to two more GolfChatUK picks in Tim Herron and Brad Fritsch as they MDF’d; SetupDetermines, LadyPutt, and 1GrumpyGolfer are further handicapped by this.
There are high winds and hot temperatures forecast for the final day’s play; nine of the sixteen remaining picks are in the scoring positions at the moment so it’s still all to play for.

There was an anxious wait for a number of GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks as the cut line hovered between -1 and even par. Ultimately the cut line landed on even and that meant good news for lots of the GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers. BlueCoverman, Mary_S, RedRage, and SetupDetermines all had six picks make it due to the move and the bonus points that come with it. Only four picks fell by the wayside and Davie had two of them and LadyPutt the other two. 1GrumpyGolfer also had one of those picks.
The low rounds of the day were 63s from Tom Gillis and Erik Compton. The worse round of the day was from Hank Kuehne with an 80. No one picked any of those players so no bonus points were awarded from round 2.
The high number of players making the cut will most likely mean an MDF so the even pars will need to improve to make Sunday’s play.

The weather softened the course and allowed the morning wave to score pretty well. Keegan Bradley shot 60 finishing his round with an eagle, birdie, birdie finish. He must rue the back to back bogies as he made the turn. Keegan’s good round meant a points bonanza for Mary_S and RedRage. His was the best round by three shots and the top 5 low scores was -6. The worse round of the day wasn’t that bad really; Steve Flesch had 77. No one picked him or any of the remaining top 5 players so everyone else is in joint third spot.
The cut line is -1 so expect that to go to -2 or -3 so mid to low 60s will be in order for some picks or it’s the weekend off.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

In the interests of fairness, handicapping, and allowing the choppers to catch up in the Fantasy League it's been decided that you won't be allowed to pick by numbers; it's proper picks or nothing at all

Ok Grumps fair enough
My flight back from Jerez arrives back at Stansted at around midnight on Wednesday evening so I will be home in the small hours of Thursday morning. That should just about give me time to put the bags down, make my picks and grab a couple of hours kip before I have to be at my desk at 8am in the morning
But I wouldn't want you to feel guilty about your decision. I will be watching closely to ensure that my fellow fantasy league competitors have the same lack of courtesy and understanding applied in similar circumstances in the future

Don't think I'm likely to get away with this one as you have clearly complied with the rules so your picks stand.

Seeing as you didn't go running to the good lady judge, for a change, you and any of the other fantasy league competitors don't have anything to worry about from this impartial administrator

Guess the weather turned this into some kind of mickey mouse course; Keegan Bradley just shot 60! There's plenty of low scores out there today. Mary and Red looking very likely to take low round bonus points,

Can't wait for next week and Wentworth - I just can't get my head round these PGA Tour events ! Can we have more ET ones, please Grumps (I know you live in the US of A and so know more about them, but I don't and quite honestly, I'm not really all that interested most of the time!).

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 –Spring/Summer Session - Event #05
I'm surprised you say that LP. Yes, Wentworth next week should be fantastic but TBH most of the ET events this year have been non events! Hopefully things will pick up a little when the ET really returns to "E" over the next couple of months but so far they've been pretty awful!
Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 –Spring/Summer Session - Event #05
Have you seen my league performance recently LP, I beg to differ on knowing better
We have 8 events left in this session and they are balanced as follows:
3 ET events: Wentworth, Munich and Scottish Open
3 PGA events: Memorial, US Open and Greenbrier
2 LPGA events: Wegmans (major) and US Open
The first five events on this session had 2 ET and 3 PGA; I try to balance the events out so that each event has what I think will have the stronger and more interesting field. Also, I would have thought that having PGA events would give some additional interest whilst watching in the evenings.
I have a preliminary schedule for the Summer-Autumn session and I'm open to suggestions (remember I did switch events at your request so that we had the Kraft Nabisco in the first session) I'm happy to send the schedule of events through for your thoughts; and that goes for anyone else that is interested too. When I was putting this together the ET was very light in places and I couldn't find anything for the ladies either at that time. Currently there would be 4 PGA events in a row, after the Open, including a WGC and the USPGA but we then switch to the ET for the rest of the season.

I often watch the PGA events, and the Fantasy League has given this added interest - especially if one of my picks, who was prevously unknown to me, appears on the leaderboard! I probably have too much time on my hands.

Oooh - a Ménage à Trois with RR and Blue - or should that be Rouge et Bleu!
Wonder who's going to be top dog at the end of play?

Event 6 sees a return to the European Tour and a visit to Wentworth for the PGA Championship.
