Davie found a way to neutralise LadyPutt in the final rounds of the Volvo China Open. His pick of Brett Rumford did the business for the second week in a row, winning back to back tournaments on the Asian, I mean European, Tour. That was enough to propel him to an easy victory over BlueCoverman. They both had three picks finish in the scoring positions but BlueCoverman’s best pick could only finish 5th.

LadyPutt slipped to third as her picks took Sunday off, RedRage and 1GrumpyGolfer had two picks score points and SetupDetermines had one pick. Mary_S may have picked too early this time as she only managed points for making the cut.

The Low Round was a 67 from Andreas Hartoe; the Worse Round was an 83 from Scott Jamieson. Wen-yi Huang finished last. No bonus points awarded this time.

Get your lucky pins and selection methods at the ready as the GolfChatUK Fantasy League takes in China for the Volvo China Open. In the field is what seems like a million Asian players who make world ranking validation a nightmare. The field is headlined by Branden Grace as the highest ranked player and defending champion to boot. He is joined by record setting, breaking? 12 year old Ye Wo-cheng who will become the youngest ever player to play in a European Tour event. Last week’s winner Brett Rumford is also in the field along with the two others who missed out in the playoff.

This is a full field event with cut; cut bonuses will be in effect.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Mr Derksen used to be one of my "banker" picks but had been doing badly recently so I'd dropped him. Hurray for the Rat!

David Howell DQ'd for a rule infringement on Day 1, which has only just come to light. Apparently the ball moved a bit on his backswing, when he set to chip - he continued, so should have been a 1 stroke penalty.

Oh dear. The good news is I don't have to redo the round 2 leaderboard cos I ain't done it yet.

I only spotted it, as I'm web surfing during a bout of insomnia!

I thought the rules had changed so that a penalty could be applied retrospectively rather than DQ? Or is that only PGA (Tiger)?

There seems to be Tiger Rules, V J Rules, and then the rules which apply to everybody else!

Reading into the Howell DQ it appears it was only discovered after round 2 had finished and he made the cut.

Leaderboard updates will be delayed as a ruling is requested from the good lady judge.

Did Howell make the cut (as suggested by his two round scores shown on the European Tour website) and then the DQ takes effect? Or is he DQ'd and so didn't make the cut?

Anybody heard any news report as to WHY the retrospective didn't apply? Or is that only a USPGA rule?

I'm afraid I'd have to agree with BCM on this one - I have to rule that Howell didn't make the cut because he was DQ'd. Still can't understand why there appears to be one rule for Woods (remember the clubhouse roof incident a few years ago?) and one for everyone else but there you go ....

Davie found a way to neutralise LadyPutt in the final rounds of the Volvo China Open. His pick of Brett Rumford did the business for the second week in a row, winning back to back tournaments on the Asian, I mean European, Tour. That was enough to propel him to an easy victory over BlueCoverman. They both had three picks finish in the scoring positions but BlueCoverman’s best pick could only finish 5th.

LadyPutt slipped to third as her picks took Sunday off, RedRage and 1GrumpyGolfer had two picks score points and SetupDetermines had one pick. Mary_S may have picked too early this time as she only managed points for making the cut.

The Low Round was a 67 from Andreas Hartoe; the Worse Round was an 83 from Scott Jamieson. Wen-yi Huang finished last. No bonus points awarded this time.
