LadyPutt’s lead did prove to be unassailable as two of her three picks finished in the points and that was enough to hold off the final day charge of 1GrumpyGolfer and Davie. The popular picks of David Howell and the Molinari brothers helped keep the chasing pack going but it wasn’t enough to topple LadyPutt.
Edoardo Molinari was blowing hot and cold all through the tournament and finally blew himself out on the par 3, 14th. He took just 10 shots to complete that hole and that helped cement his place at the bottom of the leaderboard. He was joined by Carlos Del Moral and Santiago Luna.
Jorge Campillo had the round of the day with a 67 and Scott Arnold had the worst with a 79. No one picked either of these two players so the final round bonus points fell by the wayside.

Round 3 saw ladies first at the Trophee Hassan. LadyPutt certainly got a move on, on moving day. She had two picks in the Top 10 Low Scores including the low round scorer in David Drysdale. His -5 under was enough to earn the extra bonus points and give LadyPutt a 20 point lead. Mary_S followed up more worse round bonus points with another worse round performance, this time by Scott Henry. His failure to break 80 was enough to take that dishonour. Players must be scared to be picked by Mary_S as that’s 10 worse rounds for her so far this season. 1GrumpyGolfer was the only other GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguer to score points, his pick of Mikael Lundberg got him into the Top 10 Low Scores with a 68.
Is LadyPutt’s lead unassailable? Will Mary_S break her duck and take the win? Or win someone be able to spring a kinder* surprise this Easter

Carnage ensued at the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco. The tough conditions meant that the cutline stayed at +3 and only 12 GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks made it through to the weekend. Davie and 1GrumpyGolfer made out the best with 4 of their six picks through but they have to settle for 5th place at the moment. The lead is still held by BlueCoverman and LadyPutt as they both got 3 picks through. Mary_S, SetupDetermines and RedRage also got three picks but worse round bonus points mean Mary_S and SetupDetermines join BlueCoverman and LadyPutt at the top. Doc only had two picks but worse round bonus points mean he’s not last.
Alvaro Quiros provided the bonus points for Mary_S, SetupDetermines and Doc, his round of 81 was the worst of the day. Pablo Larrazabal also shot 64 matching Siem’s score from round 1. No one picked Larrazabal so those points went unaccounted for.
Only 4 picks are within the scoring positions at the moment but round 3 does offer more low round scoring opportunities.

The opening round of the Trophee Hassan II proved to be very testing indeed. Undoubtedly on for a cricket score and most likely a record high score Jakub Svoboda withdrew or was asked to withdraw six holes into his round. The scoring average for the round was almost 76 and only 19 players broke par so Marcel Siem’s round of 64 was spectacular. No one picked him so the low round points went begging. The best score of the GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks was a 71 and that wasn’t good enough to get into the Top 5 Low Round scores, that mark was 68. The worse score for a pick was 85 and that did earn points. Maximilian Kieffer shared that score with Oliver Wilson and Callum Macauley. Kieffer’s score earned points for LadyPutt and BlueCoverman who now share the first round lead.
The cut line is at +3 and just over half of the GolfChatUK picks would make it through at this stage but there is still plenty of golf to play on day 2.

The European Tour is moving closer to Europe and we’re in Morocco this week. This trip sees the players stay at the King of Morocco’s palace to play on his private course set within the palace grounds. Although nowhere near the longest course on tour it has been extended this year with new tees added to the 7th and 13th holes. The protection comes from small greens with deep bunkering.
Michael Hoey is back to defend his crown, or royal dagger, and there are only two Molinaris in the field. Francesco is the only player ranked in the top 50 attending this event. Soren Hansen is expected to play; he has a 12:40 tee time so let’s see if he makes it.
This is a full field event with cut; cut bonuses will be in effect.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Followed that with a double for +16 after 5. Someone should tell him it's lowest score not highest

He's very consistent in his scoring: 7, 7, 9, 7, 7, 9.
He's since retired at +21! Poor bastard, tough day at the office.

Because it's the King's private course, he invites some of his friends to play - sounds as though this chap was one of them! Although looking at the ET website, he doesn't appear to be Moroccan so who knows???

Yep, only 2 of our 29 picks broke par and Davie picked both of them. 1 other pick equalled par so Mary is looking good with 2 picks at par or better. Some crazy scores out there.

Good grief - two wins in 3 weeks! I must go on holiday more often ....
I see we are doing the Texas Open next - thought we might have done the Kraft Nabisco, the first ladies' major of the year.
