The much delayed final round eventually finished and we have a new number 1, no not that one, BlueCoverman. Bet he’s not moaning about the leader losing their lead on the final day and finishing 4th now
Thanks to a 1-3 finish BlueCoverman pips Mary and 1GrumpyGolfer to top spot. Doc falls to 4th as he could only manage 1 finisher in the scoring places. Davie despite having three finishers score points couldn’t finish high enough to overtake any of those above him. SetupDetermines and LadyPutt didn’t have Tiger so they struggled to place any pressure on those above them. LadyPutt did have the low round score courtesy of Bubba Watson’s 67 and that did help somewhat.
Billy Horschel had a bit of a nightmare out there racking up some big numbers; he slumped to a final round 85 but he didn't fall to last place; that was Rod Perry. No one picked either of them so those points went by the wayside.
The GolfChatUK Fantasy League returns to the European Tour for the next event, it’s not quite made it back to Europe yet but it’s getting closer. Event details being posted tomorrow.

Round 3 saw four players shoot 66 and the GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers “picked”, is that okay Blue?, three of them. Matt Every was the first to post that number for Doc and then Keegan Bradley bogied the last hole to post -6 too. Everyone’s favourite Dane, Thorbjorn Olesen, birdied the last to match the low round of the day; Davie and Mary_S took those bonus points. Next was Tiger who holed a sizeable par putt to stay at -6 and get bonus points for 1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, RedRage and Mary_S who seems to be a bit greedy for low round bonus points.
SetupDetermines may not have had a pick shoot the low round but he had three of his four picks in the Top 10 Low round scorers. BlueCoverman and 1GrumpyGolfer also had another pick in the top 10. Unfortunately LadyPutt didn’t have anyone so she’s languishing at the bottom of the leaderboard. Rod Perry had the worse round of the day, a +6, 78. No one picked him so those points fell by the wayside.
Ten picks are in scoring positions and a few are close by. Will Doc be able to hang on and make it another victory for picking by numbers?

Out of all the GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks only 4 failed to make the weekend. The biggest cause of the pain was the returning Brandt Snedeker; he single handedly took out Davie and LadyPutt. He also affected another of SetupDetermines’s picks. Mary_S and RedRage both had 1 pick miss the weekend. 1GrumpyGolfer was looking good to be the only one with all 6 picks through to the weekend until the cut line moved to +3. This meant that BlueCoverman and Doc got were able to pick up the bonus points by the slimmest of margins.
Doc has extended his lead as Davie slips to 4th place. 1GrumpyGolfer and BlueCoverman are now the closest chasers with Davie close behind them. The third round offers the chance for more bonus points and the opportunity to close the gap.
US Amateur Champion Steven Fox had a bad day at the office he had one of the worse rounds along with Casey Wittenberg. They both had 81s. Bill Haas shrugged off a poor finish yesterday to shoot 66 and move into a tie for first place.

Everyone got in on the scoring after the first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill; some more so than others. All GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers had a pick make the Top 5 Low Round scores, the good had two picks and the lucky had the low round pick along with another low scorer. Picking by numbers Doc and regular picking Davie both managed to select Justin Rose; he shot the low round of the day, a 65. The additional bonus points gave them the lead after round 1. Thanks to a late round slump by Bill Haas and Ben Kohles the -3s got into the top 5 and everyone else scores points thanks to Tiger Woods, Nick Watney, Thorbjorn Olesen, Gonzalo Fdez-Castano and John Rollins.
Amateur Peter Williamson found out what it’s like to mix with the big boys on a tough course. He had the worse round of the day, a +11, 83. No one picked him so those points went unclaimed.
Tougher weather conditions mean that the cut line could go move from +1 at the moment to a higher number.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational takes place at his own resort at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge. It’s a 7,419 yard par 72 with closing holes that often prove dramatic finishes. One that stands out is Robert Gamez’s stunning 7-iron hole-out at No. 18 to overtake Greg Norman in 1990. That shot was enough to get Gamez an invitation into an extended 132 man field.
Brandt Snedeker is set to return to the PGA Tour after 5 weeks resting a rib injury. Tiger Woods is back to defend his title and is looking for his 8th victory in this event. A Woods victory would see him match the record for most wins at a single event and see him move back to Number 1 in the OWGR. Justin Rose and Phil Mickelson complete the number of top 10 players in the field at the moment. The US Amateur champion, Steven fox, is also in the field and he’ll be hoping for a better performance than the one he had last time around on the PGA Tour.
This is a full field event with cut; cut bonuses are in effect.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Doc has number 9 in each category and LP has 1 or 6 depending on whether 2 or 7 pull out. I couldn't be arsed to work out the permutations in LP's case.

Rosie is in at -7 and that means Doc and Davie are looking good for the low round bonus points. John Rollins is also well placed and that means LadyPutt could earn some top 5 bonus points.

Everyone scored points after round 1. Doc and Davie have the joint lead thanks to Justin Rose and another pick in the top 5 low scores. Mary_S is in third after having two picks in the low scores. The rest are in joint 4th with just the one pick.
Validation will take place tomorrow morning.

You were the only one to pick the Pink Panther but Doc has Matt Every who is tied for low round of the day with wonky eyed Keegan Bradley.
And Mary and Davie have Olesen who also shot 66 and clubhouse low round of the day.

Thanks for the update GG. I do have a liking for the low round bonus points.
Should be interesting viewing tonight.
Didn't realise that Bianca Butcher was a golf fan, but I kept hearing shouts of "Rickieeeee" yesterday. Wonder if he'll fee any pressure going out last with Tiger?

Yes that's okay Grumps (Begrudginglyacceptsthatitisallowabletopickbynumbers)
If there is any justice in this fantasy league life though, Rose and Every will plummet down the leaderboard later

Of course not - I've just heard people talking about the programme whilst at the water cooler!

Final round resuming at 10am local time, 2pm UK.
The late finish to this event will mean that the OWGR will not be updated until after Bay Hill has finished. That will have a knock on effect for the next event 15 which will be posted later than usual.

Sky don't seem to have any coverage until 9 p.m. They are showing live Tavistock Cup earlier in the evening! Hopefully something will be available on the red button.

Probably haven't updated the schedules yet Mary - I believe the Tavistock has been delayed until Tuesday so they'll probably show the conclusion of the Invitational in the Tavistock slot

Hoping for a nice little bit of form from Thorbjorn this afternoon - a small e/w bet at 80/1 adds a little more interest! (Also 8/1 on Justin Rose in the "betting without Tiger" field looks worthwhile

Just had a small e/w bet on Justin Rose - you are a bad influence Davie.
