When you spend some time finding the field, researching some filler information for the event, checking OWGRs, spelling mistakes, name round the wrong way, multiple folks with the last name Lee etc, building the post, editing posts (which is pee'ing me off at the moment because the view always returns to the top of the post and doesn't stay where the cursor is ), dealing with field questions etc. the last thing you want to do is decide upon your picks straightaway.

Yeah I hadn't spotted the Kuchar match Grumps - it was Day and VanPelt I was talking about. At least Poults has come through but not only is Sergio looking to dump on me but Rosie is also falling away from a commanding position!

Shocks galore as the first round finally finishes on day 3 of the WGC Matchplay. The top 2 seeds were knocked out for the first time since 2002.

BlueCoverman maintained his two win gap over LadyPutt after the first round. The 20 bonus points may well come in handy as we head to the latter stages. RedRage and Grumps are snapping at the good lady judge's heels.

Last year's champ, Mary, got off to a fast start only to falter and fall down the leaderboard. Davie and SetupDetermines also failed to obtain a 50% win rate and SetupDetermines also lost his overall pick. Doc is propping up the leaderboard and he lost his overall pick too.

The second round is underway with a number of guaranteed wins to come can anyone catch BlueCoverman?

I'm going to be lucky to get anyone through to the semis at this rate? Most of my hopes now lie with Poults!

The remaining number 1 seeds in each bracket were comfortably beaten in round 2. Luke Donald, a pick to win overall, was given a dog licence by Scott Piercy and big hitting Garrigus blew King Louis away.

In the standings BlueCoverman strengthened his grip on the WGC Matchplay trophy as he took 12 picks through to the last 16. He pipped RedRage and 1GrumpyGolfer to the bonus points as they both fell 1 pick short of his mark. He has over a 50 point lead on both of them but may pay the price for picking Donald to win. LadyPutt was 2 picks behind just like the first round.

All of the top 4 have a better than 60% win rate over the two days and that is showing in the separation between the haves and have nots. It was a bad day at the office for Mary, Setup and Doc as they failed to advance at least half of their picks through. Mary may have a trump card as her pick to win overall, Ian Poulter, is still standing. Davie had a 50% success rate but lost his win pick as Justin Rose fell to the muscles from Brussels; Nicolas Colsaerts.

Everyone will have involvement in the quarter finals as they all have at least one guaranteed win. LadyPutt will have at least three picks in the quarter finals. RedRage, BlueCoverman and 1GrumpyGolfer will have at least half of the quarterfinalists. They will also have a guaranteed semifinalist as they have locked up the Gary Player bracket.
