As expected, SetupDetermines donned his red shirt in readiness for the final day of play at the WGC Cadillac Championship. He’s showing a Tiger like dominance of the GolfChatUK Fantasy League at the moment with a back to back, wire to wire victory for his third win of the season. Unusually he didn’t score any bonus points during the final round but with 3 top 10 finishers plus another in the top 20 it was already in the bag. Mary_S was his closest challenger but she fell further behind SetupDetermine’s points total. Mary_S had two top 10 finishers and had bonus points from a worse round performance. There’s something to be said for lucky numbers as Doc sprang into third place aided by a low round, worse round combo and 4 scoring finishers.
Davie and 1GrumpyGolfer also had 4 picks finish in the points, BlueCoverman and RedRage had three. LadyPutt didn’t trouble the scorers for another day; Charl Schwartzel her only bright spot in the tournament.
The low round scorer was Adam Scott with 64 which was also the round of the tournament. He was chosen by Doc. George Coetzee slumped to an 80 after visiting the water twice on 18. He was chosen by Doc and Mary_S. Robert Garrigus was the last place finisher but no one had chosen him so those points went unclaimed.
The GolfChatUK Fantasy League swings to the west coast of Florida for the Tampa Bay Championship; will anyone be able to stop a SetupDetermines threepeat?

The Tiger and SetupDetermines shows march on through the third round of the WGC Cadillac Championship. Fresh off low round scores again Tiger and SetupDetermines extend their respective leads at the top of the leaderboard. Mary_S is the strongest challenger again but she falls behind as she could only manage two low round scorers to SetupDetermines’ three scorers. Everyone else had at least one pick, including Ladyputt as she gets off the mark for the first time, finish in the top low round scorers.
The low round scorers were Sergio Garcia, Tiger Woods, Michael Thompson and Nicolas Colsaerts. They all had 67s. Mike Hendry seemed to suffer in the big time during the third round. He slipped to a 78.
There are 11 picks in scoring positions at the moment; will there be a lucky combination that will see someone catch SetupDetermines?

SetupDetermines remains at the top of the leaderboard but the chasing pack is growing. Mary_S has been joined in second place by Davie and RedRage after Charl Schwartzel started to show why so many Fantasy Leaguers picked him. Schwartzel’s fine round also scored points for 1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman and lucky numbers Doc. LadyPutt unfortunately is yet to get off the mark.
Tiger Woods continued his fine form from day 1 and matched Schwartzel for round of the day; they both shot 65. Jamie Donaldson had the worse round of the day; a +5, 77.
The third round brings the opportunity for further scoring chances so maybe LadyPutt will join the party.

SetupDetermines wasn’t sure about his magic pin but if this keeps up we may have to call for a judicial inquiry. Two of his picks tied for low round of the day after round 1 of the WGC – Cadillac Championship. They were popular picks too in Sergio Garcia and Freddie Jacobsen. Mary_S, RedRage and Davie had picked either one of them. Mary_S has squeezed into second place at the moment as she made it the low, worse double. Paul Lawrie getting it a bit wrong today but as there’s no cut Mary_S doesn’t have to worry about his poor performance. Everyone was a bit like Norway at a Eurovision Song Contest: nil points.
The low round scoring was shared by three other pros making it the smallest low round scoring ever. Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson and Graeme McDowell shot 66 alongside Sergio and Freddie. Francesco Molinari also had a bad day at the office, he matched Lawrie’s 78.
Doc’s lucky numbers weren’t that lucky but they are all at par or better; shame there’s no cut.

This is the second of four World Golf Championships. It’s a strokeplay event after the matchplay from two weeks ago. As with most WGCs the field is strong; only 1 player out of the top 10 isn’t playing and that’s only through injury. Three other qualifiers, including a top 50 ranked player, are not playing either; Hiroyuki Fujita, Toru Taniguchi and Peter Senior have all chosen not to attend.
The tournament takes place on the Blue Monster at Doral which will remain the venue for another 10 years. Last year saw Justin Rose pip Bubba Watson to the title in windy conditions. It’s a difficult venue to play, especially if you have Achilles tendon problems or tooth ache, with one of the toughest finishing holes on tour.
The field is believed to be set but according to PGATour.com it looks like no one has entered. 65 out of a possible 69 are playing. There were some late qualifications this morning by those that made the top 50 in the OWGR or those that were in the top 10 of the FedEx Cup standings. Michael Thompson and Geoff Ogilvy qualified after they improved their ranking position following their performances at the Honda. Russell Henley, Brian Gay, Charles Howell-III and John Merrick qualified through their FedEx Cup positions
The field listing has disappeared at the moment so check for tee times for your picks.
This is a limited field, no cut event; cut bonuses are not in effect.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

OP has been updated with the, finally published, confirmed final qualifying field. PGATour.com not being maintained very well so I would suggest you check for tee times for your picks to make sure, that's if they decide to post them....

Grumps, can I remind you to pick Nos. 2 and 7 in each category for me for the next couple of event which, as they are US ones, probably won't be any worse than if I picked them by name? I should be back in time to pick for Event 15, but if not, please use the same numbers again.
No point in asking for Judge's rulings for those, so I'll appoint David as my stand-in in case of any disputes.
here we come!

Sure LP. I think you had reserves of 1 and 6 too, depending upon which original number did not make the start line.

I think you and I do our research in the same place Blue. It remains to be seen whether our interns know their onions or if they're just the same as weather men and women.
I'm not sure Hendry will be able to transfer his good home tour form to the big stage in a WGC thousands of miles away so he doesn't get to grace my FL team

Doc has sent me a message saying that he is away for this event and the next one. He has chosen numbers 3 and 6 from each category with number 9 as the reserve.
For this event he has:
Cat A: Luke Donald, Adam Scott. Ian Poulter reserve
Cat B: Charl Schwartzel, Webb Simpson. Dustin Johnson reserve
Cat C: George Coetzee, John Senden. David Lynn reserve

Pretty good picks there from Doc!
They are off and the early leader is Thaworn Wiratchant - -2 after 2 holes! CoCo and Tigger next up with poor Luke playing gooseberry.
Luke's feeling the pressure - he's +1 after 1 with his playing partners both at Evens.

Mike Hendry looks like he's showing he can mix it with the big boys. -3 through 7 and jointly in the lead with the wonky eyed Keegan Bradley.
Edit: Oops, jinxed him. He drops a shot on 8 and is now behind wonky eye

I have carefully checked the rules and I cannot see where an entry submitted by a cosy little private message to the league administrator is permissible. I am prepared to overlook the matter on this occasion on the proviso that Doc scores less points than me (Unlikely I know). However, should Doc score more points than me I feel duty bound to suggest that further investigation, inquiry and probable formal complaint may be entirely necessary.

Next you will be saying it's alright for Elliot Saltman to move his marker, Colin Montgomerie to incorrectly replace his ball and Vijay Singh to use his deer antler spray
Anyway the Lady Judge loves it when I bother her

Sounds like Germany, too many rules. They're cheaters, the lot of 'em.
I know Doc's not been around much recently and I wanted to keep the interest up in the fantasy league so I emailed him. He shot me a quick note back, I'm sure the good Lady Judge will pass judgement wisely.

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 – Winter/Spring Session - Event #12
Thanks for the update GG - at least I'm in the right half of the table for a change.
Can't see Tiger losing this one, and SetUp has Sergio and Phil on board, just in case.
I think that LadyP needs to ban the use of magic pins in future - they are the belly putters of Fantasy Golf!

I've lost interest in this now that Woods is winning - I stopped watching yesterday as I found the TV coverage tedious and boring.
I'll certainly think about banning magic pins unless someone can find one for me!

Maybe you could compel Setup to share his pin with you LP? I must admit that I have not watched a single shot of this tournament. Maybe that will change this afternoon but I'm still trying to get the honey do list finished before golf season.
