Three players had a chance to win the Abu Dhabi Championship when they stood on tee of the 72nd hole. Halfway down the hole Rose and Olesen needed a birdie to tie and force a playoff after Donaldson three putted. Olesen missed on the low side and Rose lipped out. Donaldson wins! But that drama didn't phase Davie at all. All three of those picks were in his team, that turned into a multitude of finish points and ultimately a huge winning margin. The final round was really a procession and it was pretty much as you were with Doc sneaking above SetupDetermines by virtue of Donaldson.

The -7, 65 low score of the week was matched by Branden Grace. Johan Edfors had the worse round of the day at +5. This was good news for Mary_S and RedRage who earned the bonus points for that distinction. Chris Wood finished last after he only managed to beat par once in 4 rounds.

The GolfChatUK Fantasy League returns to the PGA Tour for the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Event details will be posted tomorrow.

Day 3 of a stupid game leaves everything pretty much as it is. With plenty of points on offer it's almost criminal that some players didn't get a sniff. There were minimal changes to the leaderboard standings. LadyPutt moved up into third place on the back of three Top 10 Low Score finishes. SetupDetermines slipped a place as he could only manage two Low Scorers. Mary_S and Davie matched each other to maintain the gaps at the top of the Leaderboard. RedRage could only keep pace with Doc in midtable obscurity and the less said about 1GrumpyGolfer and BlueCoverman the better.

Low scores were seen in round 3 and the -5 mark was bettered by six players and Andrew Dodt and S.S.P Chowrasia were the pick of that bunch. Both scored 65s in the blue skies of Abu Dhabi. With scoring improved the worse rounds were only +5, shared by Robert Coles and Chris Wood. All those extra points were left on the table.

Final placings are likely to separate this event and I'm sure there'll be plenty of interest tomorrow but over here the football will be on instead.

Day 2 Headlines from the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship:

WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!
Tiger Woods incurred a two shot penalty and that saw him miss the cut by one shot but a couple of days work for $3M can't be sniffed at. Rory's debut of his new Nike Wanchor irons saw him play poorly and also miss the cut, still he has 150,000,001 reasons not to be sad.

IS DAVIE IN LEAGUE WITH LANCE?
After a woeful performance in Event 4 Davie is sitting proudly at the top of the leaderboard in Event 5. Investigators are poring over the transcripts of Armstrong's interview to see if they can shed any light on this amazing turnaround in form.

Round two usually separates the smart money from the guessers but it didn't stop Mary_S from keeping pace with Davie. Both got all of their picks through to the third round earning them the bonus points and this is the second time Mary_S has achieved this in three events. Tiger and Rory caused the most heartbreak for the GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers as they proved popular but ultimately worthless picks and prevented Doc and SetupDetermines from maximum points. LadyPutt, RedRage and BlueCoverman lost two picks and 1GrumpyGolfer lost three.

-5 seems to be the most the course will give up at the moment. Gonzalo Fdez-Castano matched the day 1 scores of Justin Rose and Jamie Donaldson but as no one picked him we didn't see a repeat of points galore. Amateur Sohail Al Marzuqui all struggled yesterday with an 81 but today saw him failing to break 90. No points earned here in this instance.

Moving day brings the prospect of bonus points but we'll just have to wait and see.

Day 1 of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship showed that some GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers know their onions and some don't know their arse from their elbow. Davie bounced back remarkably from his poor performance last week to lead the field after round 1. After scoring 24x his total score from the last event a steward's inquiry may be held; especially if he's named in Lance's interview today.

The pick of today's bunch were Justin Rose and Jamie Donaldson, both shot -5 to share the lead. These pair were picked by just your five GCUK Fantasy Leaguers and Davie picked both of them. The Top 5 Low Scores were shared by nine pros and again GCUK Fantasy Leaguers picked a whole bunch of them. Davie not content with the top 2 also picked another pair in the top 5. This was enough to give him a 20 point lead over Mary_S at this early stage. Mary_S also had another two picks in the the top 5. SetupDetermines and LadyPutt had a top 5 double and RedRage and 1GrumpyGolfer got in on the act too.

The worse performance of the day wasn't BlueCoverman but shared equally by three sponsor's invitations. Alexander Levy, Callum Nicol and amateur Sohail Al Marzuqui all struggled around the course in 81 strokes. However no one had the poor judgement to pick any of these three.

After too much research last time around, you’re just going to get some basic facts about the event and field. The European Tour returns to the desert for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. The event is being held over the 7600 yard Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

As luck would have it three of the top 5 in the OWGR are headlining the field. Tiger the beneficiary of a sponsor’s invite, hopefully he will repay them by being in contention all the way through the tournament. Jason Dufner is also in the field courtesy of an invite, he’s only just dropped out of the top 10 in the OWGR so I’m sure he’ll be itching to get back there. Rory McIlroy is the main draw; he’s never won this event but came close in a runner’s up finish to Robert Rock last year.

Full field event; cut bonuses are in effect.

Everyone please notify others of changes in field before tournament starts and invalid or incomplete picks from participants.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Looking forward to this one - the first "proper" event of 2013. Shame there is no sign of Luke, Poults, and GMac but still a pretty good field

MAN DIFFERENTIATES OLECRANON FROM COCCYX
See page 2 for full colour pictures

That disastrous 7 by David Howell cost me dear - but probably not as much as it cost him! Still, not too bad a result.

Interesting to see how well and quickly Thorbjorn Olesen has adapted to his new Nike equipment. Perhaps he could give Rory some tips Innocent
