Well the final round was finally completed at an almost glacial pace at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Tiger Woods won this event for what seems like the millionth time; he's won 8 tournaments there now not including junior or amateur tournaments. The glacial pace of play is almost matched by the slow paced results being posted. It seems like a pattern is emerging: Perform poorly and then charge through the pack to win the next event. Davie had done it and now it's BlueCoverman's turn in a wire to wire victory.
BlueCoverman picked three of the top 10 finishers including a 1-2 placing of Woods and Snedeker. The difference was Charles Howell III; BlueCoverman picked him and 1GrumpyGolfer succumbed to LPRPitis as Howell was left on his bench. All of the other GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers were able to have two finishers in the top 20 placings except Davie and SetupDetermines. They each had one points scoring finisher; Davie had second place through Snedeker and SetupDetermines had the last place through Sang-Moon Bae. Maybe SetupDetermines will be the next one to emerge from the pattern.
The low score and worse score bonuses fell by the wayside in the final round. Jason Day shot 66 and Bo Van Pelt slumped to an 81.
The next event sees us globe trotting back to Dubai for the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Event details are already posted.

Saturday at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines was supposed to be moving day but all that moved was the day's play. The weather delay had the effect of adding a Monday finish and earning potential MDF'ers a reprieve. There was some slight changes to the GolfChatUK Fantasy League leaderboard as BlueCoverman extended his lead by another 5 points as LadyPutt slipped into mid table.
The popular picks of Tiger Woods and Brandt Snedeker earned beaucoup points for BlueCoverman, 1GrumpyGolfer, LadyPutt, Davie, Doc and Mary_S. The less popular picks of Lucas Glover and Rickie Fowler earned Mary_S and Doc extra points.
Aaron Baddeley was the non pick of the bunch as he had the low round of the day with a -4, 68. Justin Hicks had the poorest round of the day with a +8, 80. All these bonus points were left begging.
The final round was started on Sunday and Brandt Snedeker is leading the chasing pack behind Tiger. Snedeker is -4 for his round but he's only managed to close the gap to 6 shots. The players will be back in action around 11am Pacific, 2pm New York and 7pm Colchester time.

Day two of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines saw the players reverse day one; those that played the South were on the North and vice versa. Those that played the South had their work cut out for them. Scott Stallings lost all the shots he picked up on the North and missed the cut by one shot. Some players like Greg Owen or Rickie Fowler needed good rounds on the North to make the cut and they both delivered. The cut line ended up at -1, allowing 87 players to make the weekend. However, not all of them will make Sunday; 17 or so will MDF.
Much was made of Rickie's poor round alongside Tiger at the Memorial and then again after round 1. Round 2 was a different story. Rickie matched Tiger shot for shot and they both ended up with -7, 65s. Erik Compton also matched their rounds. They all tied for the low round of the day. What did this mean for GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers: Tiger was picked by half of the field; BlueCoverman, 1GrumpyGolfer, Doc and Mary_S. Rickie was picked by just one; Mary_S. Erik Compton? Not picked.
Mary_S was on a charge, two picks with the low scores and she then doubled up with Ryo Ishikawa. He pipped Scott Stallings to the worse round of the day. His 79 meant Mary_S ended up with 30 bonus points and into joint third place behind BlueCoverman and LadyPutt. BlueCoverman actually extended his lead by 5 points as he only just misssed out on a full complement through to the weekend. Lee Williams was obviously sleeping and not playing.
Moving day could be moving out day for some as those around -1 and -2 will need good rounds to ensure they play on Sunday.

The first day of play at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines saw players split across the North and South Courses. The top of the leaderboard was flooded with those that played the easier North Course. Only 9 of the top 35 players played on the harder South course. Kudos to KJ Choi, Josh Teator, Tag Ridings and Justin Hicks for posting 67s or lower. If those players pick up a bunch of shots on the easy course today they could be tough to keep up with. The good news for South Course players is that they know scores can be made on that course. The South Course also had the 10 worst rounds, at +4 or worse.
BlueCoverman and LadyPutt lead the way after selecting Brandt Snedeker, who shared low round of the day with Choi at -7, and two other parties in the Top 5 low round scores. They are closely followed by 1GrumpyGolfer who also had Brandt Snedeker and another Top 5 scorer. Davie had Snedeker in his picks and he has 4th place alone. The rest of the GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers scored points, most with a Top 5 scorer but Mary_S had a poor performer in Rickie Fowler. He was one of three players to score a +5, 77.
Choi and Snedeker were the low scorers, Fowler, Troy Kelly and Geoff Ogilvy were poor performers. The cut mark is already on -2 so some low scores are needed for some picks to progress.

Tiger Woods headlines the field and makes his 2013 PGA Tour debut at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. He’s won seven professional events here in the past including the 2008 US Open. You’ll hear a lot about that in the next few days so prepare yourself for the nauseating story of how he won the 2008 US Open here on one leg, with left handed, ladies golf clubs while cocktail waitresses brought more than drinks for him. Yes, it’s the scene of his last major victory but it’s almost five years ago now.
The Farmers tournament spends the first two days splitting the players over the “easier” North course and the “harder” South course used for the US Open. At the weekend it’s all back on to the South course. Thursday scores tend to be better by the players on the North Course and if players are off the pace there they are likely to struggle on the South course on Friday. Both courses play as par 72s and over 7000 yards and the South is almost 10% longer than the North.
Be warned, you’ll see some funky colour combinations on Saturday from the players. Farmers donate money to university programs for those that where their school colours in round 3.
Full field event, cut bonuses are in effect.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

I'll be visiting all sorts of places Grumps, in readiness for the start of the big come-back!
The question is do I stick with old nine-chins himself, (despite letting me down so badly last week) at a venue where he has had so much success previously, or is he definitely past his sell by date now?

Change to the field in Cat B: Brian Davis has withdrawn.

On the subject of Mr Woods, anyone else seen the rumours flying around about an association with Olympic Skier, Lindsey Vonn? I've noticed a blonde woman hanging about on the fringes of some TV coverage of him - looks like a carbon copy of Elin!

Bubba Watson has withdrawn. This affects RedRage's Cat A picks. Nick Watney is moved from reserve status to full pick.
No one else is affected by this withdrawal and everyone's picks are out on the course.

Grumps you know how I don't like to interfere but I think there has been some mistake. Surely this is a Weighted 3 tournament?

That's what I like about you Blue, how you're always there with a helpful hint or something. Let me check and get back to you on the weighting.

Thanks Blue, keep those tips coming.
Delayed start to the third round due to fog. Thought they pretentiously called it marine mist on the west coast. Not what was ordered with 17 extra players to get round the course today. Only one group through the first hole and another on it.

Play was cancelled and rescheduled for early Sunday. They will continue play for as long as possible on Sunday and then finish on Monday. The good news is that all 87 players will get to finish the tournament as there won't be time to reorganise the field.

What about my LPRPitis? I picked Day, Wittenberg and Marino and they all finished higher than Cink, Mickelson, Stallings and Stuard!

Difference would have been 5 points if Chucky Three Sticks made the full team.

Your LPRPitis is taken as a given LP, not newsworthy anymore
