Dustin Johnson made it a hat trick of shortened events running out the winner, by 4 shots, over defending champion Steve Stricker. Ian Poulter who went out first had the chance to post a number but it was only good enough to be a tie for the second lowest round of the day.
It was points galore in round 3 but no one told Doc! His team talk must have been as effective as Paul Lambert's tonight as his picks came up just short of the low round scores points bonanza. 12 pros got in on the low scores, GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers picked 11 of them and each had multiple players within that group; SetupDetermines had 5 of his 6 within that illustrious group. Mary_S had Rickie Fowler who had the low round of the day and LadyPutt got off the mark too!
With lots of points on offer for finish placings everyone got in on the act, even Doc. Half of the field had all 6 picks score points and the other half had 5 out of 6. RedRage had 4 picks in the top 10, another in the top 20, and the last place finisher but it wasn't enough to pip 1GrumpyGolfer who had a 1-2-3 finish.
Ryan Moore had the worse round of the day but no one picked him so points were left on the table for once. Kyle Stanley even managed to break par today but it was not enough to move him up the leaderboard.

There's no need for leaderboard manipulation as LPRPitis struck hard this time around; LP may even be on life support. RedRage and 1GrumpyGolfer seem to have escaped relatively unscathed as they had the low and worse round combo of Dustin Johnson and Kyle Stanley. This was enough to see 1GrumpyGolfer hold onto top spot and open up a 10 point lead over Doc and RedRage. BlueCoverman had Dustin Johnson and that helped break his slide down the leaderboard. Mary_S moved up to join SetupDetermines and Davie got off the mark too on the back of Kyle Stanley; no wonder he slumped to a +7, 80.
The final round will prove to be a bumper points bonanza as over a third of the field will score points for their round scores and 70% will earn finish points. As Barry Davies cried: "And it's up for grabs"

A long awaited leaderboard from the first round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Third time lucky for the pros as they eventually started round 1 on day 4. Webb Simpson is ruing the restart while Ben Curtis and Scott Stallings are rejoicing in their do overs.
Rounds of the morning were posted by Dustin Johnson, Mark Wilson and Nick Watney and all those players were picked by GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers. 5 of the 8 participants had these players. Davie sadly succumbed to LPRPitis; he left Nick Watney on the bench and that could be fatal in this shortened event. LPRPitis proved to be quite contagious as both BlueCoverman and RedRage were also infected however they both have a Low Round Player to soften the blow.
The popular pick of Kyle Stanley just missed out on the Worse Round dishonours. His 78 was pipped by George McNeill so those bonus points went begging.
Doc and 1GrumpyGolfer share the lead after round 1 as they both picked a low round player and another player within the Top 5 Low Scores. Mary_S got into the Top 5 Low scores too so she has a leg up on Davie and LadyPutt who are holding up the leaderboard. Apologies LadyPutt, it isn't my fault. Normally I would put ladies first when players have the same score but BlueCoverman informed me that it goes in alphabetical order
Round 2 is well underway at the moment and that update will come out tomorrow morning.

Happy New Year GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers!
This is the PGA Tour’s kickoff event for a shortened 2013 season. As usual the season opener takes places in the winter warmth of the Hawaiian resort of Kapalua. In its infinite wisdom, or play for TV ratings, the Tour has decided that this event should have a Monday finish. This is to coincide with the BCS National Championship game between the top two college teams of Notre Dame and Alabama.
30 of the 37 eligible players for the season opener will be in Hawaii. The notable absentees include; Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, Tiger Woods, Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickleson and Ernie Els. Even so, the field still contains 8 of the top 20 players in the OWGR and a field size of 30 will ensure some bumper points pay offs to the top performers.
The field contains four of the multi win performers from the 2012 season: Brandt Snedeker, Hunter Mahan, Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson. We have two of the four major holders here and eight first time winners from 2012. There is one former champion and runner up in the field, who happen to be the same person: Steve Stricker. It’s ironic really as Stricker is only in the field due to winning this event last year. At 45 Stricker’s also the oldest player in the field with rookie sensation John Huh being the youngest at the tender age of 22.
The Plantation course measures out at more than 7400 yards and is a par 73. It’s perched on the slopes of the West Maui mountains and can be susceptible to the trade winds. The course record is shared by KJ Choi and Graeme McDowell at 62. There has been some work to the course with some changes made to the seventh hole. More than 70 trees have been removed to bring the wind into play on one of the tougher holes on the Plantation course.
All in all it appears to be a good opener to 2013. This is a limited field, no cut event, so cut points will not be available but with points places going to 21 of the 30 man field it should mean a bumper points spread for GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Thanks Blue, it's going to come to a crashing halt sometime soon as it's more by luck than judgement.
