BlueCoverman has been admitted to Broomfield hospital suffering from a severe case of LPRPitis. Doctors do expect him to make a full recovery and he should be released in time to join in the Masters fun. His reserve pick of Inbee Park continued her march to victory and plunged into the pond to celebrate. This lack of judgement ultimately cost BlueCoverman victory but his loss is RedRage’s silver lining.

Like Park, RedRage strode to victory with 3 of this picks finishing in the top 20. He comfortably outperformed BlueCoverman, LadyPutt, and SetupDetermines who each had 1 scoring pick to take the virtual plunge into the pond. 1GrumpyGolfer and Davie made up the numbers.

Su Yeon Ryu had the round of the week finishing in style with a 65. This was in contrast to Lizette Salas who struggled to a 79, this mark was matched by Lindsey Wright. Salas dropped down the leaderboard but Wright sank like a stone to the bottom of the pond and last place. No one picked any of these players so the points went unclaimed.

In the race for leading amateur Lydia Ko did not disappoint. She saved the best for last and finished with a 69 and a 3 shot victory over Stephanie Meadow. Everyone got 30 points this time, even 1GrumpyGolfer and Davie!

The last event of the Winter/Spring session is coming up as we move into Masters week. It’s also the unofficial start to the season proper and hopefully nice weather Cross Fingers

Lots of bonus points were on offer but only three GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers could take advantage. BlueCoverman, LadyPutt and SetupDetermines were able to pick up some points thanks to Karrie Webb and Yani Tseng. The gap at the top has closed to 20 points but it might not make much of a difference as only two picks are within the scoring places now.

Angela Stanford had the round of the day and the week so far with a -6, 66. Camilla Hedberg suffered under the weight of expectation and she had the worse round of the day with a 79. Her poor round had consequences for the race for leading amateur as she had slipped well down that leaderboard. Lydia Ko and Stephanie Meadow are in neck and neck position so 30 points could come the GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers way.

Will anyone be able to make a charge on the final day? Will BlueCoverman be ruing benching Inbee Park as she takes the plunge into the pond?

RedRage and BlueCoverman certainly know there way around the ladies; all six of their picks made it through to the weekend at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Davie, SetupDetermines and 1GrumpyGolfer missed out on bonus points by one pick and LadyPutt lost two picks. The bonus points catapulted RedRage and BlueCoverman into the top two spots on the leaderboard.

Inbee Park had the round of the day with a -5, 67. She only made it as far as a reserve pick for BlueCoverman so those bonus points didn’t get awarded. Isabelle Lendl had another bad day at the office, this time it was just +17 for an 89.

Camilla Hedberg has taken the lead in the race for leading amateur. She has a two shot lead over Lydia Ko, Stephanie Meadow and Ashlan Ramsey.

Round 3 is moving day so who will be the first to make a move?

________________________________________________________________________

Shock and horror at the Kraft Nabisco Championship; the leading amateur is not Lydia Ko, I repeat not Lydia Ko. Ashlan Ramsey is the only amateur to break par and her -1, 71 was enough to take the amateur lead from the 72s posted by Lydia Ko and Camilla Hedberg.
68 is the round of the day and that mark was shared by Na Yeon Choi, Suzann Pettersen and Jodi Ewart Shadoff. Amy Yang and Anna Nordqvist rounded out the top 5 low scores with 69s. Isabelle Lendl had the worse round of the day, she had an 84.

LPRPitis strikes again as Suzann Pettersen was the popular reserve pick but RedRage, LadyPutt and 1GrumpyGolfer share the lead as they all picked Na Yeon Choi. None of the other picks scored points so Davie, BlueCoveman and SetupDetermines will have to wait for round 2 to get off the mark.

The cut will fall at top 70 and ties and that currently stands at +3.

An unexpected change of pace and direction strikes the GolfChatUK Fantasy League administrator and instead of heading to the last chance saloon at the Valero Texas Open we’re heading to California for the first major of the year, the LPGA’s Kraft Nabisco Championship. We’re at Mission Hills playing the Dinah Shore tournament course which is a par 72 spanning almost 6400 yards.

There is a star studded line up for the first major; 39 of the top 50 are in the field including the top 18 ranked players. There are six former champions in the field including Sun Young Yoo who took the plunge into Poppy’s Pond after beating I.K. Kim in a playoff. Defeat was doubling disappointing for Kim as she missed a 1 foot putt on 18 that would have won the tournament outright.

There are a few amateurs in the field so we will also be picking the low amateur to run alongside the main competition. The amateur pick does not have to be one of your category picks unless you wish to include them for that too. 30 bonus points are on offer.

This is a full field event with cut; cut bonuses will be in effect.

________________________________________________________________________

Everyone please notify others of changes in field before tournament starts and invalid or incomplete picks from participants.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Choose one of the amateurs in the field to be the low amateur.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Definitely Blue, I slept well on Friday night and felt like an older man than I am on Saturday night. Little bit sore after over 4 months off.

How was your trip to Cornwall, were you able to get any games in?

Glad you enjoyed it Grumps, looks like you scored pretty well despite a long lay-off and hollow tined greens.

The weather has been so poor and bitterly cold here recently that my wife felt that golfing in Cornwall would not be that enjoyable, so instead we had three nights at a decent hotel on the waterfront in Southampton and just chilled out for the weekend. Now the clocks have gone forward it is light until nearly 8pm so hoping to get a bit of practice after work one night this week, feels like I haven't swung a golf club for ages!

Very popular choices are:

Cat A Stacy Lewis, Na Yeon Choi

Cat B IK Kim (Last year's almost winner, Oh I missed a 18" tap in)

If none of these 3 appear on the leaderboard, possibility of a big swing on the GolfChatUK FantasyLeague LeaderBoard.................... Rain Cloud

I think those that picked IK Kim are hoping that she puts it behind her and this time holes an 18 inch putt to win.

Looks like everyone is guaranteed 30 points or not depending upon Ms Ko's performance.

The morning wave is well underway and there's a mixed bag of fortunes for the 10 Fantasy League picks out on the course.

Na Yeon Choi is leading the way with several others at -3 and Spohie Gustafson is among those propping up the field at +4. Looks like Lydia Ko was right to skip her school book as she's the only other pick under par at the moment.

RedRage, LadyPutt and 1GrumpyGolfer take the lead after round 1 as they all picked Na Yeon Choi. None of the other picks scored points so Davie, BlueCoveman and SetupDetermines will have to wait for tomorrow to get off the mark.
