The final round of the GCUK Fantasy League saw some crazy moments. Two holes in one, take a bow Stephen Gallacher and Joost Luiten. Another course record 64 posted by Sergio Garcia only to see it eclipsed a few hours later by Justin Rose who lowered the record by 2.
Some amazing finish scores were accumulated by Boastful BlueCoverman and SetupDetermines. They both picked Rory McIlroy who won by birdieing the last five holes to pip Justin Rose. They both had Charl Schwartzel who finished in a tie for third with Luke Donald, who SetupDetermines had too. BlueCoverman had Louis Oosthuizen who finished fifth. They both had Henrik Steson who finished in a tie for seventh with Thongchai Jaidee who SetupDetermines also picked. BlueCoverman's fifth scoring finisher was Fredrik Anderson Hed who finished in ninth. Both scored over 400 finish points blowing away the rest of the GCUK Fantasy Leaguers.
LadyPutt fared the best of the also rans with 5 top finishers of her own. RedRage had 4, 1GrumpyGolfer had 3 and Davie had just 2.
LPRPitis hadn't been eradicated as Justin Rose had the low round of the day and Davie was left to weep about it. Thomas Aiken had the worst round of the day, a +4, 76 so Boastful Blue and RedRage were happy to pick up the worst round bonus points there. LadyPutt also suffered from a recurrence of LPRPitis as Richard Finch propped up the leaderboard at +7.
The season is finally over and the Autumn standings willnever soon be published. Trial run finale type event to be instigated soon; probably at the Chevron Tigger fest so look out for that. 2013 season to start very soon as the first events for the Race to Dubai will be kicking off in a few weeks.
Thanks to all who took part in the inaugural GCUK Fantasy League and many thanks to Venice1 for instigating the league. Grumps.

Round 3 saw Jeev Milkha Singh equal the course record but not quite as eventfully as Sergio Garcia. He had level nines of 32 but that meant nothing to GCUK Fantasy Leaguers as no one picked him. The next lowest scores were the favourite GCUK picks of Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy. SetupDetermines doubled them up and added another popular pick of Charl Schwartzel to score 90 points and leapfrog to the top of the leaderboard.
RedRage also had three picks make the top 10 low scores. Everyone else had two picks except for LadyPutt who only had one pick. This means BlueCoverman's lead in the standings is back to where it started so the boastful so and so is looking good for the Autumn session.
Three pros shared the worst round of the day. Marcel Siem, Marcus Fraser and Lee Slattery all had 75s but again this meant nothing for GCUK Fantasy Leaguers.
Looks like the finish positions will mean everything and hold the key for the Autumn session final standings.

What happened? Nothing, well for GCUK Fantasy Leaguers anyway. No points were scored meaning BlueCoverman is pretty happy in second spot. almost boastful, I believe.
Sergio Garcia matched the course record despite two bogies and a triple bogey on his back nine. He did mitigate them with two eagles and four birdies to close out the back nine without any pars. His -8, 64 has catapulted him up the leaderboard. David Lynn had the worst round of the tournament so far with a +5, 77.
Round 3 has the tempting promise of points for GCUK Fantasy Leaguers. Will BlueCoverman be looking over his shoulder? .

The finale to the GCUK Fantasy League did live up to expectations with plenty of astute picks and scoring. Only one GCUK pick was worse than level par after the first day's play at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
LadyPutt is doing her best to close the gap to BlueCoverman in the standings. She had three in the top 5 scores plus low round of the day with Luke Donald. She's still suffering from a touch of LPRPitis; if she'd have picked Richard Finch instead of Stephen Gallacher she would have had the worse round of the day too. An excellent first day performance by LP. BlueCoverman also had three in the top 5 low round scores but he relegated Luke Donald to Cat A bench missing out on the extra 30 points there and that's made the difference.
SetupDetermines and Davie had two picks in the top 5 including Luke Donald so they sit level with BlueCoverman on 90 points. 1GrumpyGolfer and RedRage managed one pick but 1GrumpyGolfer chose Luke Donald so he holds a slight advantage over RedRage in the basement battle.
Only eight of the 56 pros failed to match par after round 1 so there's good scoring to be had. Richard Finch was the worst of the bunch with a +4, 76.

So here we are, the final event of the GCUK Fantasy League 2012. The European Tour has travelled to the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates for the finale which in all fairness is likely to be a bit of a damp squib. The Race to Dubai was finished before it got to Dubai. Rory McIlroy has sewn up the season and can just go through the motions to win the, whatever it is they win in this, Race to Dubai thingamajiggy.
Luckily for GCUK Fantasy Leaguers the Autumn Session is still up for grabs. BlueCoverman has taken a commanding lead at the top from LadyPutt and me, 1GrumpyGolfer. However I don’t think he has much to worry about from me as I don’t even know what this Race to Dubai thing is all about. This probably goes a long way in explaining some of my more abject performances in the European Tour events so far this season.
Last year saw Alvaro Quiros make a monster eagle putt to win the event by two shots from Paul Lawrie. This year sees 57 of the 60 qualifiers play in the finale. As usual my finger is on the pulse of pro golf and I’m bringing you the inside scoop! The absentees are:
Ross Fisher, trying his hand at PGA Tour Q School
Retief Goosen, injured?
Thomas Bjorn, no idea why he’s missing it.
It’s another limited field, no cut event, which will make things a little tricky for catching BlueCoverman as the points available for cuts will not be available.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Even those wouldn't have helped! Excellent and exciting race, though. A great end to the season for both ET golf and F1. What on earth am I going to do with my weekends now? I know, I'll play golf if this bloody stops!Davie wrote:Does LP get bonus points for Jenson? ;-)

Ah yes LP. I was forgetting he only sings when he's winning and is a bit of a BGB must think of another way to penalise him. Now where did I put Venice's number.....

An excellent decision I must say LP, good to see the LadyJudge deny the suggestion and uphold our basic human right to free speech...

Oh and can you sort the final leaderboard out please Grumps, it should read Setup, then me and then you right at the bottom. Thanks

Blue, you're right it does stand for Bloody Good Bloke after you publicly pointed out my deficiencies as League Administrator.
But you should be careful as you seem to have defended the right to free speech which should allow anyone to call you a big girls blouse even if you don't agree with it
As previously advertised the League Administrator position pays three fifths of bugger all so suing for damages for being called a big girls blouse are likely to get you even less than that

Enough of all this idle chit-chat Grumps, can't you just get on with the much more important business of announcing the winner of the fantasy league autumn session?
