The final round at the Childrens Miracle Network Hospital Tournament in Lake Buena Vista, FL saw raycastleunited have another dominant day. On a day where all GCUK Fantasy Leaguers had multiple picks in the top 20 finishers raycastleunited had 4 including 3 in the top 10. The 80 points earned here were enough to see off the charge of faldono1fan, RedRage and BlueCoverman. Faldono1fan had Charlie Beljan who managed to shake off a mid round double bogey to win his first event and earn an exemption that will see him keep his card for two years. Davie had a strong finish too and that was enough to lift him off the bottom of the table by a mere 5 points. A faltering finish by 1GrumpyGolfer matched that of Russell Knox. Knox needed a good round and finish to have a chance of making the magic 125. He was on course with 5 birdies and an eagle coming into the last two holes. He then proceeded to drop shots for the first time over the last two holes and that dropped him from 4th to 9th and prevented him from making the top 125.
Bonus points for low round, worse round and last place were on offer for GCUK Fantasy Leaguers but no one had picked any of the players who took these honours. Jerry Kelly and Joey Snyder III shared the low round of the day with -6, 66s. Matt Goggin took the worst round prize with a +7, 79. This also earned him last place, an unwanted double if ever there was one.
Next week the GCUK Fantasy League moves to Naples, Florida for its penultimate event, the CME Group Titleholders tournament on the LPGA Tour.

Well moving day lived up to its name for GCUK Fantasy Leaguers at the Childrens Miracle Network Hospital Tournament in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Charlie Beljan defied medical advice and returned to play the third round, he shot a -1, 71. This was good enough to keep him at the top of the leaderboard. Scoring was good and tight bunched at the tournament; six pros shot -5, 67s and six pros shot -4, 68s to tie up the Top 10 Low Round scores. GCUK Fantasy Leaguers picked four of those players.
LadyPutt shook off LPRPitis and bounced back strong. I think she must have adopted her Judge's persona and demanded action from her 4 picks playing at the weekend. Two of her picks tied for low round of the day and one of the others shot one less and picked up Top 10 Low Round bonus points. Those points were enough to take her from 8th to 2nd behind raycastleunited. SetupDetermines also had a low round and Top 10 Low Round double moving him from 9th to 4th. Raycastleunited also had a low round of the day pick. Mary_S and 1GrumpyGolfer had a Top 10 Low Round scoring them 10 points.
For the second day in a row the worse score was a +5, 77. Chris Stroud took those dishonours but no one picked him so those bonus points were left on the table.

Amazing scenes during the second round of the Childrens Miracle Network Hospital Tournament at Lake Buena Vista, FL. New tournament leader, Charlie Beljan, shot a -8, 64 to take a 3 shot lead into the weekend. What made this feat even more impressive was that he was taken ill on the back nine. He was struggling for breath and had an elevated heart rate. At times he was on his knees but he got through the round before going to hospital. Due to his perilous position on the money list he couldn't afford to quit the tournament. Hopefully for him and faldono1fan is that he can continue.
Low scoring continued on the Palm Course with Matt Jones matching the -8, 64 of Beljan. The low score on the Magnolia was a very good 66 from Ryuji Imada.
Raycastleunited and Mary_S had all six of their picks make it through to the weekend. Raycastleunited made this quite comfortably but Mary_S had an anxious wait as Chris DiMarco hovered above, below and finally on the cutline. Four other GCUK Fantasy Leaguers came up one short, BlueCoverman says that his failure to get all six through was due to him suffering from Sodding Sod's Law LPRPitis, but I think he's making this up. The other GCUK Fantasy Leaguers had four picks through.
The worst rounds of the day were from Troy Matteson and Gary Christian. They both had +5, 77s. This is certainly bad news for Christian as he misses the cut and will miss the chance to make the top 125. Back to Q school for Christian.
The leaderboard is very bunched at the top and this should make for an exciting weekend as players try to make sure they finish in the top 125 on the money list.

The Childrens Miracle Network Hospital Tournament at Lake Buena Vista, FL is spread over two courses for the first two days play and that has prompted a split in the field already. Those that played the Palm course first took advantage of the easier scoring conditions and made hay in the Sunshine State. Seventeen of the top 22 players played the Palm and none of those playing the Magnolia course could beat a 68. Five of the seven worse scores came at the Magnolia course.
What does this mean for GCUK Fantasy Leaguers? Well, they did a pretty good job of picking those that played the Palm first; more by luck than judgement I think. No one picked Charlie Wi to have the low round of the day, he finished strongly and pipped the popular pick of Tommy Gainey to take the lead after round 1 at -8. All bar one of the points scoring GCUK Fantasy Leaguers picked Tommy Gainey; any guesses as to the one that didn't?
The Top 5 Low Round scores were limited to six players and one of the GCUK Fantasy Leaguers picked three of them. Take a bow raycastleunited, his picks of Tommy Gainey, Brian Harmon and, another popular pick, Russell Knox took three of those spots. RedRage and 1GrumpyGolfer made it a double pairing Knox and Gainey.
SetupDetermines looked like he would score worse round bonus points as his pick of Trevor Immelman was sitting in last spot for a long time at +8. Unfortunately Steven Bowditch imploded on his last 4 holes dropping 5 shots as he slumped to a +10, 82. He comfortably took the worse round dishonours.
Tomorrow sees the players switch courses and it probably means an advantage for those playing the Magnolia on day 2. They've seen it's possible to pick up a few shots there and they will then stay on and play the Magnolia again over the weekend. Whilst the others will probably put pressure on themselves to go low at the Palm and then have to make a switch back to the Magnolia again.

The last Fall Series event sees the Tour move to the Disney World resort in Florida. It’s a favourite stop for the pros as it’s a very family friendly event. Missing the cut isn’t so bad unless you’re on the borderline for the Top 125 places on the money list. The event is played over the Palm and Magnolia courses before the cut. Play then moves to the Magnolia course for the weekend rounds. The Magnolia course is not a Mickey Mouse course as it’s setup for big hitters but it does have a Mickey Mouse bunker on the par 3 sixth hole.
This event last year saw a show down for the money list title. In the Red Corner was Webb Simpson from the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Player of the Year according to Garrigus. In the Blue Corner was Luke Donald who was looking to be the first player to win both the European Tour and PGA Tour money list titles in the same year. Donald took down Simpson shooting a final round 64 to win the event by two shots and comfortably taking out Simpson. Big surprise for Garrigus was that Donald became the PGA Tour Player of the Year.
This year Luke will not be back to defend his title, he sends his apologies and a cheque to a Chicago hospital that happens to be in the Childrens Miracle Network. The focus this year won’t be on who wins the money list but those who earn playing privileges for next year. Even if a pro doesn’t make it into the Top 125, places 126-150 earn status on the Web.com Tour.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Non Runners:
Stephen Ames (BlueCoverman)
Jeff Overton (faldono1fan)
Reserve replacements:
Joe Durant (BlueCoverman)
Chris Kirk (faldono1fan)
The Palm Course looks to be the easier of the two courses so far of the finishers. The lowest Magnolia course score is -4 at the moment whereas there are -5 and -7 scores in on the Palm.

Re: GolfChatUk Fantasy League 2012 - Autumn Session - Event #39
So the relative ease or difficulty of the courses is apparent already.
On the Palm Course Matt Jones, who shot a -1, 71 yesterday, is currently -6 through 11 holes. Even Steven Bowditch has managed to get himself under par for his round there. On the Magnolia Brian Harman, he top Top 5 Low Round fame, is finding things a little more difficult. He's +5 through 10 holes and is now right on the projected cut line of -1 at the moment.
Early days yet in terms of the cut but who knows, could have another MDF cut after Saturday's round depending upon the numbers.

The morning wave are coming to an end and the "afternoon" wave, all players out on the course before noon, are just setting off. Ryuji Amada looks to be bucking the trend and is looking good for the low round on the Magnolia course.
What I didn't realise, and failed to mention before, was that this is a Pro-Am event but they haven't really publicised it as such. Can't seem to find too many details as to why that would be and who the participants are. I only recognised one name on the Pro-Am leaderboard.

Getting tense now as the final few players are finishing their rounds. Chris DiMarco has yo-yoed a bit today. He's currently on the cut line precipice but all it takes is one or two players to move to -2 and he's the wrong side again. Setup and Mary are vulnerable here.

Faldo is also vulnerable as his reserve pick of Chris Kirk is also finished at -1 but he has Charlie Beljan who currently has a four shot lead so we shouldn't feel too sorry for him.

Re: GolfChatUk Fantasy League 2012 - Autumn Session - Event #39
I am suffering with a slight deviation in the affliction of LPRPitis which has affected some of my fellow fantasy league players recently.
I am suffering from 'Sods Law LPRPitis' which is a condition that occurs when two of your reserves finish at -9 (Stenson) and -8 (Gainey) but your third reserve (Durant) who has come in as a replacement for your original pick (Ames..who was a non runner) then has the audacity to miss the cut! When this condition occurs and in addition the replacement reserve is the only one of your picks not to make the cut, thereby denying you maximum bonus points, (as in my case here) the condition becomes known as 'Sodding Sods Law LPRPitis'

Nice work LadyPutt!
Hope that Blue and Davie have got broad enough shoulders to support the rest of us from the bottom of the table.

Wow - that was some move!
I've not been around much this week because I've been appearing in an AmDram production of a G&S operetta called Utopia (Limited) in Greenwich all week - we finished lat night and I was partying until gone 2.30am! I have no voice left now having spent half the night singing all sorts of stuff at the top of my voice.
Good to have something away from golf occasionally (and LordPutt was great in his backstage role as well).
That explains my early picks - with a pin - which seem to have done me some good. But there's still a round to go .....
