All bar one picked Ian Poulter who had back to back 65s to win his second WGC title; can you guess who didn't? Choking day came up oh so fast for BlueCoverman. After sitting pretty at the top of the leaderboard from round 1 bragging about his pick of Adam Scott it wasn't a pretty finish to the GCUK Fantasy League WGC - HSBC Champions.
Everyone except BlueCoverman earned 120 points for that first place finish. Some went even better by having another finisher in the Top 20 adding an extra 10 points to their score. Two GCUK Fantasy Leaguers managed a 1-2 finish by picking Jason Dufner adding an extra 80 points to their score.
Faldono1fan earned victory by the sole difference of Jbe Kruger. His nightmare start to the week earned worst round dishonours and those 20 points were enough to see off 1GrumpyGolfer, who caught a touch of LPRPitis over Jbe Kruger.
Nick Watney shot low round of the day, a -10, 62, and those 20 points were enough to give RedRage 3rd place. Nobody chose David Lynn or Greg Chalmers who had surprisingly good by comparison worst rounds of the day. They both shot 77 leaving the worst round bonus points on the table. Nobody had the misfortune to pick Mu Hu who managed to go round that course on average 10 shots worse per round than the eventual winner.

A day of scoring for both the players and the GCUK Fantasy Leaguers in Round 3 of the WGC - HSBC Champions event in China. But there doesn't appear to be any relief for LPRPitis as Davie appears to be the latest to succumb to this debilitating disease.
With the whole league still under quarantine Ian Poulter stepped for almost all GCUK Fantasy Leaguers, his round of 65 was only good enough for the joint 4th best score. Snedeker and Westwood both had good chances for the mythical 59. Snedeker couldn't get his birdie putt at the last to drop and you could see him willing it into the hole but it wasn't to be. BlueCoverman earned his points from the worst round of the day; Dustin Johnson slumped to a back nine 47, he had everything from a birdie through to a quadruple bogey!

A short and not so sweet update for Round 2 of the WGC - HSBC Champions event in China. LPRPitis is reaching epedemic levels and is breaking out across the GCUK Fantasy Leaguers. 1GrumpyGolfer seems to be the worst affected as he remains rooted to the bottom of the leaderboard with zero points but in the reserve performance table he would be joint top with the big jessie, BlueCoverman.
With the whole league being quarantined no updates were needed to the leaderboard except to change it to round 2. What really happened was that reserve picks Louis Oosthuizen and Ernie Els tore up the course with -9, 63s leaving points on the table. No picked Kenichi Kuboya who had the worst round of the day by some distance so his performance also left points unclaimed.

A mixed bag of scoring at the WGC - HSBC Champions event in China. Braggard BlueCoverman held off making his picks until raycastleunited had picked. He then scoffed at those Cat A picks stating that Rose and Donald had no chance. His pick of Adam Scott shared Low Round of the day bragging rights with Louis Oosthuizen but those bragging rights come with a price. Braggard BlueCoverman pointed out his pick of Adam Scott sitting pretty at the top of the leaderboard he earned the little used Bragging Penalty that docked him 20 points.
LadyPutt earned points in the traditional way by picking Shane Lowry; he shot -6, finishing in a tie for 3rd place. Davie, RedRage and the returning faldono1fan earned their points in a negative way. Their pick of Jbe Kruger was easily and clearly the worst player of the day. His +11, 83 was the worst by 4 shots easily sealing the Worst Round dishonours.
Commiserations and get well soon wishes should go to 1GrumpyGolfer as he succumbed to LPRPitis disease. Named after one of our more popular players who has the knack of picking reserves which do better than the official picks. He would have had a Top 5 Low Round score and Worst Round but those performers were part of his bench and so the points were left unclaimed.
Louis Oosthuizen was ignored by everyone and so his performance also left points unclaimed.

The WGC –HSBC Champions tournament is another limited field, no cut event featuring 50 of the top 100 players in the world rankings. Unfortunately the world number 1 and 2 players have decided to skip the event and feature in a big money exhibition match.
This year sees the event move to Mission Hills in China. The Olazabal course will be known to some of the field as it has hosted the World Cup of Golf between 2007 and 2009.
The WGC was won in spectacular style by Martin Kaymer, he shot a final round 63 to storm through the field and ultimately pip Freddie Jacobsen by three shots.
As this is a no cut event the points available for cuts will not be available.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

That is quite some field assembled despite the lack of world #1 and #2 (I actually thought they were playing even though they had the exhibition jolly today but it appears not which is a shame) - should be a great tournament though!
Re: GolfChatUk Fantasy League 2012 - Autumn Session - Event #38
Getting some really strong winds here now F1F, trees are starting to move significantly now. Hopefully no new skylights installed unexpectedly in the ext few hours.
Davie, wishing you a happy birthday for tomorrow just in case I don't get the chance. Hope you have a great day, Grumps

Despite victory on Tuesday I wasn't happen with the ref's performance and I thought he made some shocking decisions. You were shocked by the decision to penalise you under the bragging penalty hence the comparison. Brought Clattenberg into it as I thought you might have thought I was being clouded by your Blue colour.

Failure to do so will, I'm afraid, leave me no choice but to put on my big girls blouse and go running off to the honourable Lady Judge...

Do you expect me to be swayed by tears, you big jessie? Just for that pathetic attempt to appeal to my better nature (which I think is somewhere down the back fo the sofa) I don't think you should have your points. But Grumps is obviously more of a softie than me, so I let his decision stand.

You have got to admit that it takes some doing to go from top of the leaderboard in round 3 to bottom of the leaderboard in round 4! That's choking at it's very best!

Sorry Blue. I taped the golf and watched it "live' through the course of the day so I missed both your posts. Should read the thread before posting updates.

Silver medal for you then Grumps and not the gold, still a good last day's work! Well done Faldo.
I don't think I will be troubling the Lady Judge for a while after the latest rebuff!
