RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Can't believe I missed Lexi Thomson off my picks - she's usually one of my default choices - I must've just skimmed over her name on the list
Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 - Summer Session - Event #27 _ U.S. Women's Open
I was going to pick Lexi but her name was not on Venice's list. I assume therefore that I am still entitled to any points that she may accrue Venice?

Re: GolfChatUK Fantasy League 2012 - Summer Session - Event #27 _ U.S. Women's Open
Everyone please excuse the non-tallying for the past few days for both events as I just returned home from an arduous weeklong vacation on Catalina Island here in Southern California. Though only 48 nautical miles from my apartment, it is a very difficult to put up with the ferry service across the channel which takes an hour or so through tepidly rolling waves reaching a couple of feet in height, all while nursing some cocktails in the commodore's lounge.
I never did get to play the 9 hole 'executive' course they have on the island but I enjoyed an excellent 4th of July nighttime outdoor concert next to the casino with a grand fireworks show included. Spencer Davis and his local The Catalina All-Stars Band were the act and he has to be admired and commended for still putting on two hours of solid and entertaining music.
Though he's now over 70 years old, his vocals, guitar and harmonica playing and engaging personality were still very evident. He got in a few good jokes early on about the irony of him being the headline for this particular American holiday and gave a humorous revisionist account of what really happened in 1776 and the years following. Somehow the U.S. is still a territory of the U.K.
Relatively speaking golf-wise, as my brother happens to be one of the members of the band, Mr. Davis as a kind gesture to him, offered me the use his golf clubs anytime I visit the Island and want to play the local course. From now on I'm going to have to give greater consideration for the Welsh golfers when making my fantasy picks as Malcolm Jones of Blues Image fame also lives on the island and still plays locally. Both are true gents but I'm not sure I understood their 'English' the few minutes I got to spend with them.

Ok, so who picked Lydia Ko for low amateur? Think she has this wrapped up with a six and seven shot cushion over the two other remaining amateurs.
Those of us who got excited by Kyung Kim's relatively high ranking came unstuck as she collapsed under the sheer weight of the Golf Chat Fantasy League pressure.

Geez, with my performance in the league I may try and pull a fast one every so often but didn't expect this kind of behavior from you Blue

An evening with Spencer Davis, Venice? I'm VERY jealous - sounds like a fantastic trip away and a decent excuse for not keeping the Fantasy Leagues up to date

Just five intrepid competitors scored points in the first round of the US Women’s Open. Both oldparwin and oldshanker benefited from picking Cristie Kerr whose -3 under 69 was good for a share of three way share at the top of the leaderboard. Ai Mizayato was the other popular choice scoring round 1 top 5 bonus points for LadyPutt, raycastleunited and boyhyde.
Boyhyde suffered from some honesty and the good Lady Judge’s ruling. He picked Mizayato as one of his Cat A picks however unbeknownst to him there were two of them: Ai and Mika. In the absence of a clear choice it was thought that his Cat A reserve should be used instead. That would have been Cristie Kerr but he admitted he thought he was picking Ai as he thought we were pulling his leg with Mika.
Nobody thought to pick Samantha Marks or Rinko Mitsunage who had a miserable day on the links carding +15 87’s.
The race for best amateur saw Lydia Ko shoot 74 to be 5 shots off the lead and well ahead of everyone’s favourite Kyung Kim.
Plenty of points to play for in round 2 as players making the cut earn 15 points and a potential bonus of 60 points for having all six make it through. Everyone has this in play except SetupDetermines who has already been derailed by the withdrawal of Morgan Pressel.

The pair of old boys were knocked from top spot by a couple of young whippersnappers who shared a perfect six out of six earning a valuable 60 bonus points. Oldshanker’s pick of Wendy Ward fell by the wayside, by a single shot, breaking his quest for perfection. Ladies golf doesn’t seem to have the same attraction for Mary_S as she only managed to get two picks through to the final rounds.
What else happened, not a lot:
1. Nobody selected Michelle Wie who shot the best round of the day
2. Nobody selected Jane Rah, probably because they’ve never heard of her, who shot the worse round of the day

Thanks for the update GG, although I'd be happy to remain in ignorant bliss on this one!
With no Fantasy League this week, I had a little flutter on 5 picks - only one of them made the cut, so I think I'd best stick to the fantasy stuff in future.

That strange noise you can hear is the sound of loud sobbing coming from Hogie. At the last minute he pushed Na Yeon Choi out to be a reserve pick. On a day of high scoring Na Yeon Choi was one of two players to break 70; with a magnificent 65. Her low round was enough to see 1Grumpygolfer, who had the sense or luck to pick her, double his score and move marginally up the table.
Half the field got in on the action as third round moving day didn’t move very much. Raycastleunited extended his lead at the top but otherwise it was just jockeying for position in mid table as the Top 10 low scores were high enough to include +1. It must be the first time the spread of scores covered almost 10 shots.
Sue Kim plummeted down the leaderboard courtesy of after she accumulated 85 and the Fantasy League worst round honours.

1. Nobody selected Michelle Wie who shot the best round of the day
2. Nobody selected Jane Rah, probably because they’ve never heard of her, who shot the worse round of the day
The race for best amateur is over. All those who didn’t pick Lydia Ko have lost the best amateur race.
Congratulation’s to Hogie, BlueCoverman, and Venice1 for achieving victory on the amateur side.

Na Yeon Choi’s stunning third round opened up a big enough lead that she could coast home to victory and deliver another Major win for 1GrumpyGolfer. He also picked Sandra Gal who finished in 3rd spot sealing his victory over raycastleunited and oldshanker.
Bluecoverman may know which ladies to pick but only one managed to crack the Top 20 earning him some finishing points. Crucially for Blue he managed to pick Lydia Ko as the top amateur and those bonus points came in handy as he slipped to mid table obscurity.
Hogie and Venice1 also had bonus points for Lydia Ko but Hogie must still be ruing what could have been had he stuck with Na Yeon Choi.
Three players received final round bonus points both Mary_S and RedRage picked Sun Young Yoo who shot a final round 68. Mary_S was especially grateful considering those bonus points doubled her score for this tournament. Raycastleunited earned bonus points for Alison Walshe’s bad round. Sue Kim’s weekend disaster kept going as she failed to break 80, again and finished in last place.

Funny how you have taken over from Venice and suddenly you are top of the leaderboard Grumps!
Anyway what's wrong with mid table obscurity?...us Col U fans will be happy with it this year!

I think you'll find I made reference to doing very well in the this event as opposed to say the French Open back when Venice was able to provide updates so Blue!
I would be more than willing to share the spreadsheet and necessary calculations for validation too.
I fear that midtable obscurity may come too late in League 2 Blue. Fingers crossed for a turnaround in form.
