RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Perfect nothingness has been achieved in the GCUK Fantasy League 2012 Irish Open event. Whether it be the green weather or the wee ones roaming the hills, the magic powers have rendered the competitors to exactly zero composite points total. Nobody selected anybody about anything worth something for Round 1. The perfection really appears in the form of a leaderboard where everybody is in first place. That has to be some sort of record somewhere and for sometime.

It is only appropriate that those participating each receive a nice round of applause for such imperceptive symmetry:
Redrage, BlueCoverman, faldono1fan, 1GrumpyGolfer, oldshanker, hogie, SetupDetermines, Davie, oldparwin, Mary_S, Doc, venice1, raycastleunited, LadyPutt and boyhyde.

Here's the rub:
1. Nobody selected the 8 pro's who made the Round 1 Top 5 list
2. Nobody selected Jeev Milkha Singh or Grégory Bourdy who tied for low score in Round 1
3. Nobody selected Sam Hutsby who's shot the worse round of the day

Round 2 is guaranteed to show more action as some of the selections are expected to make the cut by default or the law of averages. They certainly won't make it solely on keen observations and deductions from the Fantasy Leaguers if Round 1 is an accurate gauge.

Perfection of the good kind was achieved in Round 2 by three Fantasy Leaguers who sent all six of their respective selections into the weekend action at Royal Portrush Golf Course: LadyPutt, BlueCoverman and Davie. There were only three common picks between them: all selected Ross Fisher and Paul McGinley while Graham McDowell was chosen by BlueCoverman and Davie, proving that there is still more than one way to skin a cat.

For the second day in a row, nobody selected the low score of the day which was shot by Paul Waring. (And nobody can really recall the last time he was the day's top man.) A slight scrambling at the top of the leaderboard leaves Davie with a 20 point advantage over BlueCoverman after Round 3 of The Irish Open. LadyPutt is now in third place followed by a desperate host of other Fantasy Leaguers. Davie grabbed 30 points for the day by selecting two who made the Round 3 Top 10 category while also picking Thorbjørn Olesen who shot the low round of the day. He becomes the first Leaguer to grab any of the daily low score or worse score bonus points for this tourney.

Among the other pro's who also made the Round 3 Top 10 category Rory McIlroy was the most popular choice, earning bonus points for six competitors while Simon Dyson scored for two others. Nobody selected Fredrik Andersson Hed who shot the worse round of the day. A good half dozen pro's hovering near the top of the leaderboard are among the competitors' picks going into the final round. Magically, the charms will only be for the lucky one.

Well at least you got that prediction right Grumps!

We both had 3 guys the same in our 4 that made the cut. Venice's pick finished in the top 20 while mine was probably looking for lucky charms.
