Hogie's third round springboard propelled him to victory in the BMW PGA Championship. The popular picks of Luke Donald and Paul Lawrie finished first and second earning huge amounts of finish points but hogie wasn't content there; he also had Ernie Els who finished seventh. 10 GCUK Fantasy Leaguers picked the winner, 5 also picked the runners up of Justin Rose and Paul Lawrie.

Paul Lawrie also scored round four bonus points for low round of the day with a -6, 66. He was matched by George Coetzee, but no one picked him so we don't care. Colin Montgomerie had the worse round of the day with a +9, 81. That was also enough to send him to last place on the leaderboard but, all those points also went begging as GCUK'ers had the sense not to pick him.

Oldparwin maintains his lead at the BMW PGA Championship but the gap has been reduced to 20 points. Mary_S has moved into a share of second place with venice1 as she encouraged 5 picks through to the third round. Venice1 wasn't as successful in getting picks through but James Morrison took his team talk to heart and blitzed the field with an -8, 64 earning bonus points for low round score. BlueCoverman has slipped to a share for fourth as 4 picks made it through for him. He shares that spit with Doc who also got 4 picks through but one of those that bowed out for Doc did so in style. Rhys Davies accumulated 82 and a share of worst round of the day.

Four Fantasy Leaguers came within one pick of achieving perfection and bonus points. There'll be tears before bedtime and much anguish for Mary_S as her David, David Howell let her down. Faldono1fan also picked a local lad for him and was let down to by Howell. Raycastleunited missed out with Alejandro Canizares and in a shock event Rory McIlroy ballsed up hogie's chances.

There were four other pros tied with Rhys Davies for worst round but no one chose Keith Horne, George Murray, David Horsey or Markus Brier.

Oldparwin has stormed into the lead at the BMW PGA Championship opening up a 40 point lead over the chasing group of 3 players. His picks of Peter Lawrie, tie for first round lead, and Justin Rose, top 5 score were inspired. The chasing group of Mary_S, venice1 and BlueCoverman took the conventional way by one of the pro's who made the Round 1 Top 5 category. Mary_S also chose Justin Rose and venice1 and BlueCoverman both chose Alvaro Quiros.

Ten GCUK Fantasy Leaguers are tied for 5th place but don't have any points.

Nobody chose David Drysdale who tied for low round of the day and nobody chose Christian Cevaer or Benjamin Herbert who both tied for the highest round of the day at +11.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Picking by numbers isn't as easy as it looks LP. But, these are points you've earned that will count towards the standings this week.

Cheeky barsteward....That's why there's skill involved in picking by numbers.

Anyway, is it wise to give the league administrator a hard time Innocent

Also, forgot to mention interim administrator. It's still Venice's league, I'm just keeping the seat warm for him.
