The charge on Saturday set Davie up for victory with five of his six picks earning finish points. 1GrumpyGolfer also had five picks in the points but not enough quality. SetupDetermines had four picks including the eventual winner and the final round low round score but his charge wasn't enough to take the win. LadyPutt was the best of the rest with three picks scoring points. BlueCoverman and RedRage each had two picks to tie each other and Mary_S had just one pick score points.
Rory McIlroy shot 66 along with Stephen Gallacher for the low round of the day. Kristoffer Broberg had a day to forget with an 81, following an 80 in the third round, to finish last. Only SetupDetermines picked any of these players.

Davie made a charge in round 3; four of his remaining picks shot 69 or better earning beaucoup de points. One of those picks was Franceso Molinari who happened to shoot the round of the day. 1GrumpyGolfer just about held off Davie as he had three picks shoot 69 or better too. 1GrumpyGolfer's points tally was added to by the awful play of Oliver Fisher; his 84 was the worst by 4 shots.
Everyone else, except BlueCoverman, earned 40 points by having two picks shoot 69 or better. BlueCoverman managed 40 points because he also had Molinari.
There are five picks in the top 7 places and two others in the placings so there is still a lot to play for in the final round.

Tougher conditions meant that scoring was higher in round 2 but that didn't seem to stop Luke Donald. A fine round of 67, and best of the day, left him well placed moving into the weekend and his round picked up bonus points for 1GrumpyGolfer and Davie.
The difficulty in scoring saw picks slide disastrously towards the cut and in some cases it wasn't a slide but a plummet. Ernie Els, on home turf, was one of those that had a shocker. No one managed the full set and cut bonuses were hard to come by. The only bonuses paid out were in Category A and both Mary_S and SetupDetermines, already hampered by the withdrawal of Sergio Garcia, missed out. BlueCoverman missed out due to the poor play of Charl Schwartzel. The rest of the Fantasy Leaguers earned a bonus.
1GrumpyGolfer and LadyPutt have the most picks through; LadyPutt gives thanks for the cut line moving to +2. Davie and SetupDetermines have six picks left, RedRage has five picks, and BlueCoverman and Mary_S have just four.
The worst round score was 81 and three players had that; Thomas Pieters, Magnus A Carlsson, and Justin Walters all had that number.

Round 1 finished on Friday morning after play was suspended due to darkness on Thursday eveing with 33 players, including two picks, still on the course. Those guys finished up and did make some changes to the Fantasy League leaderboard. Matteo Manassero did look like he was likely to earn points for the worse round but Matt Ford and Emiliano Grillo had other plans.
After Thomas Bjorn equalled the course record with a 62 it was all about catch up. Rafa Cabrera Bello was the only pick to score near to Bjorn's 62; he had a round of 65. That put him comfortably in the Top 5 Low Round scores which was 67 or lower. 1GrumpyGolfer and SetupDetermines are the only Fantasy Leaguers to earn points in round 1.
Round 2 is well underway with the cut line already moving back to +1. That won't help Mary_S who has had to endure two withdrawals already through Peter Uihlein and Sergio Garcia. SetupDetermines was also impacted by Garcia's withdrawal.

The European Tour's flagship event sees four of the top ten players in the world tee it up at Wentworth. Henrik Stenson is the headline player and there is a veritable who's who in attendance. It's only when we get to the lower end of Category C does name recognition seem to dwindle and that's only down to the inclusion of National or Regional Order of Merit leaders.
We are back to our regular three Categories but you still need to pick three, plus reserve, from each one. The additional cut bonus points are still on offer this time around. If you get all of your picks through in any category you get a small bonus. Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus. It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:
Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

I wouldn't recommend picking Rory at the moment - news in that he has called off his engagement to Caroline, just as the wedding invitations had been sent out!

Not sure his head will be in the right place this weekend - not that it has been for a few months.

I think that Caroline will look back on this, and be grateful that she managed to dodge a bullet.
Hope that all is OK with RR.

Tommy Bjorn with a round of 62 equals the course record but takes lowest score in relation to par. Think that's low round of the day sewn up.
In other news Peter Uihlein retired after three holes, dropping shots at all of them. No word on why he retired and that's scuppering Mary's plans for domination. Hennie Otto also out after just five holes.

Play is suspended due to darkness with 33 players, including two picks, still on the course.
At the moment Setup has the provisional lead through good and bad play. However the bad play might not be bad enough to earn points when round 1 ends. Matteo Manassero is joint last in the clubhouse on +8 however, Matt Ford is +7 through 11 holes.
1GrumpyGolfer and BlueCoverman are the closest to Setup but Blue might lose his provisional points by the end of the round as he also has Manassero.

Doesn't look as though I'm gonna have too many names to watch for on Saturday's leaderboard.
Steve left home at 5.30 a.m today, heading to Wentworth to have a day as a spectator (although he often does that on Saturday + Sundays anyway)

Matt Ford and Emiliano Grillo did scupper chances of points for Manassero. They both had 81s for the worse round. BlueCoverman and SetupDetermines lose their provisional points.
Rafa Cabrera Bello was the only pick to score points after a round of 65. That put him comfortably in the Top 5 Low Round scores which was 67 or lower. 1GrumpyGolfer and SetupDetermines are the only Fantasy Leaguers with any points after round 1.
Round 2 is well underway with the cut line at even par at the moment.

I see that Peter Uihlein withdrew because of back problems. It would appear that I was lured into picking the crocks this week, even though I avoided Poulter!

Scoring obviously much more difficult today with Anders Hansen's -3 after 17 holes by far the best score and the projected cut moving to +1. It's been quite windy here in London.

Might be touch and go as to whether they get finished tonight. 14 players left on the course including Jose-Felipe Lima who's in the penultimate group. He's currently +9, through 16 holes, missing the cut by some margin but he's tying the worse round score. Would he come back to finish his round if they don't get done?
EDIT: Looks like they will just about squeeze it in. If Lima birdies the last Setup will be SOL on bonus points, conversly if he bogies the points are all his.

I've heard a story there was more to the Wozilroy breakup than meets the public eye

Tears of a Clown
Apparently Rory was a 'no show' at the Champions reception, which takes place after the press conference. When Luuuke won, he put in an appearance, even though he was on a tight schedule to catch a plane. I would have thought the presentation speech and presser were the hardest bits to get through, but maybe he only does the stuff which is in the public eye?

Just moved it around Setup for illustration.
You did get all those points. The low score went into the round 4 column . The points for the finish placings go into the Finish column.
You had 120 points already from:
Cut points - 60
Round 1 - 20
Round 3 - 40
