Close but no cigar for Peter Uihlein as he twice missed putts to take the title.  His conqueror was David Howell who probably went into the playoff more in hope than expectation as he had previously lost all four that he been party to.  Uihlein's loss was also Davie's loss as he failed to come in at 50/1.  Rather than take another win GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers had to settle for four of the top five places instead. Nine picks finished in the scoring positions and RedRage had three of them.  Davie, BlueCoverman, and Mary_S had two picks in the Top 20 but BlueCoverman also had his remaining pick finish dead last.  1GrumpyGolfer, LadyPutt, and SetupDetermines had just one pick score points.
 
The round of the day was 64, Tom Lewis and Morten Orum Madsen both had that number. Lewis was one of SetupDetermines' picks.  The worse rounds of the day were shared Soren Hansen, Bjorn Akesson, and Anthony Wall.  Wall's poor round meant he also finished last.
 
Due to the Presidents Cup and Seve Trophy there are no events on the European or PGA Tour, as a result the GolfChatUK Fantasy League is taking a week off and will return for the Portugal Masters.

The third round brought points galore for all Fantasy Leaguers, except 1GrumpyGolfer, as the cut fell at -9.  Davie and RedRage just missed out on the perfect 6, Davie by 1 shot, as they had five picks through to the final round on Sunday.  Mary_S lost two picks, BlueCoverman, LadyPutt, and SetupDetermines lost three picks and 1GrumpyGolfer lost four picks.  The low scoring saw five picks make the Top 10 Low Scores including the low round of 62.  Paul Casey earned beaucoup de bonus points for Davie, LadyPutt, Mary_S, and RedRage.  Davie climbed to the top of the leaderboard due to additional bonus points from having another pick make the Low Round threshold.  Mary_S must have given one hell of a pep talk as she had another two score points for her as she charged up the leaderboard.  BlueCoverman and SetupDetermines also had a pick make the scoring positions. Tjaart Van Der Walt had the worse round of the day, again, with a 77.  He was matched by Robert-Jan Derksen but no one picked either of those two players.  
 
Nine picks are in scoring positions including three who are tied for second behind the pick of Peter Uihlein; looks like GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers could continue their run of picking the winner in this final session of the 2013 season.

There was some low scoring going on, even Nick Dougherty managed an under par round, in round 2.  Top of the pile was Peter Uihlein at Kingsbarns.  He had a 59 watch going on as he started picking up shots on his back nine.  He missed out by one shot only making birdie, only, on his last hole.  That great round was great news for Davie and RedRage as it was round of the day by two shots and earned them Low Round bonus points.  The worse round of the day was from Tjaart Van Der Walt who managed a 79 round St Andrews.  
 
The cut line is already at -6 so expect it to be around -9 or -10 tomorrow.

As expected the low scores would most likely come from St Andrews.  Kingsbarns would be the next to yield low scores and Carnoustie would be the beast it always is.  Those that were reasonably successful at Carnoustie will be in the mix as they go to Kingsbarns and finish on The Old Course.  Five players shot 64 including two GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks.  SetupDetermines and 1GrumpyGolfer cashing in on the success of Tom Lewis and Mark Tullo respectively.  The other players who shot 64 were Alexandre Kaleka, Richard McEvoy, and Oliver Wilson.  Nick Dougherty had 86 which was the worse round by far; a 12 on the 18th hole certainly didn't help.
 
The cut comes on Saturday but already it stands at -3.  Time for some picks to pull their fingers out but with poorer weather expected tomorrow who knows what will happen.

The 13th edition of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship pits the pros against three courses, St Andrews, Carnoustie, and Kingsbarns with the added complication of it being a pro-am too.  Players will be split across the three courses before the cut whittles them down to the Top 60 pros and Top 20 Amatuers for the final round on the Old Course at St Andrews.  The cut takes place on Saturday as opposed to a traditional Friday cut.
 
8 of the 11 previous champions are in attendance: Branden Grace, defending, Michael Hoey, Martin Kaymer, Simon Dyson, Nick Dougherty, Padraig Harrington, only multiple winner, Stephen Gallacher, and Paul Lawrie.  Those who are not returning are Robert Karlsson, Lee Westwood, and Colin Montgomerie.  8 players are within the Top 50 of the OWGR and Charl Schwartzel is the highest ranked at 19.
 
This is a full field event with cut; cut bonuses will be in effect.

RULES
 
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
 
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
 
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
 
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
 
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
 
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
 
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.  Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
 
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
 
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
 
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Have we had a little insight this afternoon into how you have managed to get to the top of the table Grumps?

Nope, some website trawling but mostly pure guesswork on my part especially as I rarely watch pro golf. I think I've seen more live than on tv this year.

First and last time messing about with your picks although I was tempted with your Jason Day(?) pick a lot earlier in the season.

I think you changed your mind over a pick preferring Jason Day(?) instead. Your updated pick then finished round 1 with one of the points scoring positions and I think it meant you were the only one to earn points. I was sorely tempted in that instance but ultimately refrained. Today was just too good of an opportunity to miss.

Setup's Tom Lewis now into a 3-way tie at -8 with Tullo and Kaleka after an eagle on 16. Tullo and Kaleka have both finished so Lewis has 2 holes to sneak into the lead on his own.

A massive 12 at the 18th wouldn't have helped. Maybe his middle name is Jean.

Jamie Donaldson at -7 at Carnasty must be in great position for the rest of the week.

David Howell has just got to -6 there too. They're two of five players who are -4 or better at Carnoustie. Those five are in the top 44 players.

Looks like Louis Ooh has been abandoned on the course. ET website shows him still on the 18th despite the commentators saying everyone has finished. Official Leaderboard update will be delayed until he finishes but the unofficial update is:

SetupDetermines and 1GrumpyGolfer lead after they each had a pick shoot 64. Lewis and Tullo at Kingsbarns and St Andrews respectively. Everyone else yet to get off the mark. The cut will come after the third round but it currently stands at -3. Some picks will need to get their fingers out.

SetupDetermines and 1GrumpyGolfer cashing in on the success of Tom Lewis and Mark Tullo respectively. The other players who shot 64 were Alexandre Kaleka, Richard McEvoy, and Oliver Wilson. Nick Dougherty had 86 which was the worse round by far; a 12 on the 18th hole certainly didn't help.

The cut comes on Saturday but already it stands at -3. Time for some picks to pull their fingers out but with poorer weather expected tomorrow who knows what will happen.

There was some low scoring going on, even Nick Dougherty managed an under par round, in round 2. Top of the pile was Peter Uihlein at Kingsbarns. He had a 59 watch going on as he started picking up shots on his back nine. He missed out by one shot only making birdie, only, on his last hole. That great round was great news for Davie and RedRage as it was round of the day by two shots and earned them Low Round bonus points. The worse round of the day was from Tjaart Van Der Walt who managed a 79 round St Andrews.

The cut line is already at -6 so expect it to be around -9 or -10 tomorrow.

If you have the Low Round Scorer, which you and I had, you get 10 points.

In rounds 1 and 3 there are 10 additional bonus points for being within the Top 5 or 10 Low Round Scores. In this instance our Low Round Scorer was also in the Top 5 Low Round Scores thus earning an additional 10 points.

So 10 points for Low Round and 10 points for Top 5 Low Round Scores makes 20 points

If he doesn't want them Grumps, give them to me. I did pick Tullo after all

I thought you might want to disown him after today's abject performance; missed out on lowest to highest by 1 shot.

You'd get 10 points anyway so are you suggesting an extra 10 points for such a spectacular fall? I have had one of my picks do this already this year. In the KLM Open Jorge Campillo had low round of the day in round 2 to make the cut, he followed that up with the worst round in round 3. He earned me beaucoup de bonus points through stellar and stupid play.
