The Golfers worst enemy has arrived!
Well one of the worst enemies is obviously the Shanks!
But I'm talking about that other one! SNOW!
Currently settling outside my house! Needs to hurry up and "do one" got clubs Xmas scramble tomorrow and been looking forward to it for a while.
So my question to you guys/gals what will you all do to get your golfing fix if the snow devil persists

Ditto Mav, has been sleeting all morning but proper snow just now starting to fall. We have our Xmas comp tomorrow morning also, but the ground is so wet it hopefully won't settle
That said, if it is cancelled at least i won't have to get up at 7am!
Snow = range, if open. I went to the range last night and it was FREEZING so if that continues i might just hang up the clubs for a bit!

Its wet here to MPB so hoping what has settled is a small dusting that will melt as quick as its arrived.
Planning to goto range myself in an hour or so see if I can freeze myself enough to wake up this morning!
Hanging the clubs up always a last resort! May need find one of those indoor places!

West Malling have an indoor simulator. Haven't been on it mind you. They are pretty good though with the exception of putting.

Have they now! Never knew that! Mind been a good few years since I played there last time was in an Ateam game against a young lad called Matt Mellish(think that's the right name) nice fella actually.
Can anyone book to have a go Del? I'd be looking to play for the long game to keep the rust out and just a bit of fun with the flatstick

There's an indoor simulator golf thing just by Picallilly Circus called Urban Golf
It's a pretty good laugh for a day out with mates but not really much for practise in my opinion

Is that the old Jack Niclause Centre in Gravesend? Pukka driving range that used to be. Haven't been there for years. Last time was when my little girl was a nipper. Used to go to the range and then take her on the little train at the front!!

That's the one mate, still a really good driving range matts and bays are superb. Was originally the Jenny-Lee Smith golf centre, my brother was the assistant pro there. The owner was a lady pro (probably guess that by the name!) Her husband got caught fiddling the books so was sold of to the Nicklaus lot! Then they bailed out and was run my a good Pro called mark day who happens to be a long time friend and good coach. Now Lambert owns it!

Crimbo shopping is dead easy - leave it to the Mrs which means I only have to buy her gift. The shops even wrap it up for you. Job done.

Real men shop the way my dad does it, gets my mum to buy everyones, then he sends out my sister with his money to buy my mums and wrap it! First he knows what he's bought her is when she opens it christmas day! He's got away with it for last 10years!

The forecast here was a bit of drizzle followed by bright skys. Its been snowing like hell for over 3-hours now and the roads are already chaotic. Hoping for some of the drizzle we should have had, to clear the course for the weekend
I bought Mrs Doc something on-line Monday, got an email telling me it been despatched on Monday, but still waiting for it ......

Re: The Golfers worst enemy has arrived!
Woke up this morning to heavy rain and sleet but called the club and they said course was open!
9:18 tee time and when we got there we were about the only people there! Pro shop told us the front 9 was closed, which was a bit annoying as htey hadn't mentioned that an hour earlier and in the meantime it had stopped raining.
Anyway we were the first people out on the back 9 on time and got 9 holes in around 90 minutes. I actually played pretty well (18 pts with a double bogey on the last) - my two mates had absolute "mares" though and when we tried to decide if we were going to play the back 9 again (course was still pretty quiet) they decided not.
Clubhouse and breakfast instead - by which time the sun was shining brightly!

Re: The Golfers worst enemy has arrived!
Mav - as I am fond of telling everyone that will listen and a few that wont! During the winter months, my group use the indoor virtual facilities and find it suits us down to the ground, or mat!
Much more fun than hitting balls into freezing fog, keeps the swing going, good practice for wedge shots off pinched lies and if you want to do range work, you can, but in more comfort.
Putting is a waste of time though, as is the rough and bunker mats. Just look at it as a different version of the game.

Oh boo, hoo, hoo. Now you lot know what it feels like for Kwini and I. I'm trying to work out what I'm going to do this year, been looking at getting a simulator for home but they're a little on the pricy side.

Absolutely gutted as the course is closed and covered in snow, freezing tonight so not looking good for in the morning. May have to go up to the practice area if we get rid of some of the white stuff. Desperate to try out some things with my new clubs, barsteward

Doc out of interest if your course is closed then are you allowed to use practice facilites only reason I ask is, that every course I've been a member out does not allow this, if course is closed then so is practice ground and short game area.

Mav the only area that's closed is putting green and sand practice area. There's a netted area off a mat for long irons and woods

In that case Blue just sprinkle some glitter on your Little Blue and tell her from now you will be charging her £100 a blowjob. Sorted.

I tried that Diggers but she said that her boss at work lets her do it for nothing!
Reminds me of a text I received from a mate yesterday:-
"Christmas Day is pretty much like every other day of the year for me now...stuck at home with a fat bird that doesn't gobble anymore!"

Re: The Golfers worst enemy has arrived!
Apart from one flurry of snow, which only settled for about an hour, we've been a snow free zone in the West Country. Quite a lot of heavy rain though, so the course is a bit soggy. Hoping it might dry out a bit over the next couple of days as I'm playing on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
