RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

The first round of the Scottish Open brought dampness to all except the three GCUK Fantasy Leaguers who chose Francesco Molinari and his impressive -10 score which was good for the low round of the day. BlueCoverman, Mary_S and 1GrumpyGolfer each earned 20 points for picking him but Mary_S has the early lead based on her also selecting Alexander Noren who made the Round 1 Top5 list. Only one other Leaguer, hogie, was able to put numbers on the board with his Category B selection of Peter Lawrie who also had a Round 1 Top 5 finish worth 10 points. Nobody selected Michael Stewart who shot the worse round of the day at +8.

The other 10 competitors were once again left in the gates by making many safe choices in all three player categories. The popular culprits: Luke Donald, Paul Lawrie, Padraig Harrington, Paul McGinley and surprise, surprise… David Howell making an artificially inflated comeback?! Round 2 promises to expose more of the Leaguers' fragile picks as Weighted 1 events once again are proving to not only be the toughest League contests but also the most tightly contested. So far the fescue at Castle Stuart has been very kind to the pro's on the course. Will some of that green pollen drift the Fantasy Leaguers' way is another matter.

Noticed nobody chose David Millar to finish first in today's stage of Le Tour de France. I believe it was worth 100 points as stipulated in the invisible ink section of the point rules:

Any Scotsman finishing first in a stage of Le Tour de France which coincides with the Scottish Open will be worth 100 points in GCUK Fantasy League events even if that person is chosen as a category reserve. Not finding such persons' names on the respective category lists is no excuse for not choosing them.

There are other hidden rules and agendas but they seem to be missing. Wait... here's another one:

The one called 1GrumpyGolfer is considered to be very savvy and must be watched at all times. All methods to disrupt his intentions are acceptable.

Unfortunately he was able to circumvent the system this week with his 'paint by numbers' method.

Mary_S is making mockery of matters in the GCUK Fantasy League Scotland event for her fellow competitors after 2 rounds and a 25 point lead that threatens further separation as two of her picks are currently tied for first and the four others are no worse than tied for the 35th position on the actual leaderboard. Redrage was the only other Leaguer to have all six picks make the weekend play as he leaped into sole possession of 3rd place with 50 points.

1GrumpyGolfer slipped into the 2nd slot while just missing the 6 for 6 bull's eye due to an eye-poking disappointing round from Jorge Campillo who failed to make the cut. Six other Fantasy Leaguers also had 5 of 6 make the cut which ordinarily would make things a bit tighter at the top of the leaderboard. Paul Lawrie from Category A and Paul McGinley from Category C were responsible for most of the damage with LadyPutt remarkably the unfortunate recipient of both of their lethal cuts.

SetupDeterminestheMotion and Davie made positive adjustments by having selected Matteo Manassero who tied two others for low round of the day. Nobody selected the other two: Ricardo Gonzalez and Phil Mickelson who also shot -8. Richard Finch was also left alone as he managed a high round of +9 to take worse score for Round 2. Round 3 has the fox released and the hounds eager for the chase over the firth. Not one's typical hunting grounds. Tally ho.

Round 3 of the GCUK Fantasy League competition in Scotland showed plenty of scoring and finally the emergence of a race as Redrage scored a record 50 points for Round 3 in a Weighted 1 event. Mary_S also scored well with 30 points to keep her now slim margin of a lead intact. Also of note is Redrage and oldparwin both had the very rare combo of having selections make the low score and worse score for the same round. Redrage also had the rare double for low round of the day with his choices of Marc Warren and Martin Laird.

All but two of the Fantasy Leaguers scored on what was a very moving 'moving day.' Four chose Marc Warren and two chose Martin Laird who tied for low round of the day at -8 with Søren Kjelsen who was chosen by no one. The biggest point distributor was none other than David Howell who rewarded his new faithful with 10 points each for shooting the worse round of the day with no less than six Fantasy Leaguers high-fiving his accomplishment. Mr. Howell seems to be have rejuvenated after having been ditched a few events ago as an automatic selection by this week's current Fantasy leader. It looks to be a win/win situation for both parties.

Perhaps Ray would have been wiser to let you make his picks after all Grumps!

It's not as easy as it looks. There's a lot of time and effort involved in perfecting this system and process

That said, Ray performed spectacularly. Is that some kind of fantasy league record?
