Wearing a bright pink shirt on the US Mother's Day Martin Kaymer held on for dear life in the darkness to win the Players Championship. And at the top of the Fantasy League table are the two ladies. Mary_S had four picks finish well within the top ten and all those finish points saw her take a firm grip of the crystal. LadyPutt went on a charge led by Jim and Jimmy. Those two combined to be -13 under for their final round and Jimmy scored one of two 65s which were the low final round. SetupDetermines despite matching the number of points scoring picks was pushed into third place. 1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, and Davie all had three picks score points but the quality was differing and the amount of points varied significantly. RedRage managed just one pick scoring points and slipped to the bottom of the leaderboard after the low round bonus points were added to BlueCoverman's total.
KJ Choi was the other pick to shoot 65. At the other end of the leaderboard Geoff Ogilvy finished with a 78 and almost fell to last place but that was claimed by Kyle Stanley who finished at +7.

With all those bonus points on offer there was only one positional change to the leaderboard. With all the players at the Players for round 3 we had a secondary cut for final round. Only one pick missed the target of +2 and RedRage said goodbye to Rickie Fowler. Five picks scored points for the Fantasy Leaguers after shooting 69.
Mary_S is still holding onto a slim lead over SetupDetermines after they both had three players in the Top 10 Low Round scores. RedRage's MDF loss was offset by three of his picks also making the low scores mark. 1GrumpyGolfer, Davie, and LadyPutt all had two picks score points and the lagging BlueCoverman had one pick score points.
The low round was 67 and three playes shot that number. Francesco Molinari, Ryan Moore, and Brandt Snedeker went pretty much unnoticed by Fantasy Leaguers; only Snedeker made to LadyPutt's bench. Jeff Overton had an 83 to miss the MDF cut line by a mile.

Lots of points scored in round two and no movement whatsoever on the leaderboard. Mary_S and SetupDetermines remain neck and neck at the top; both only lost one pick and earned two cut bonuses. BlueCoverman also earned two cut bonuses despite losing all of his Category C picks. Everyone else earned a cut bonus for getting all of their Category A picks through to the weekend. 1GrumpyGolfer, LadyPutt, and RedRage all had seven picks make it through; Davie has five picks left.
Jordan Spieth shot 66 for the low round of the day and that earned Davie bonus points. Tim Clark and William McGirt both had 81s on their way to missing the cut.
Round three offers more bonus points and maybe we'll have some changes to the leaderboard to report.

With victory in the Wells Fargo Championship JB Holmes earned the last spot in the Players Championship. This is a prestigous event and lots of the big boys are playing; 46 of the top 50 players in the world are here. The only ones missing are Tiger Woods, Jason Day, Victor Dubuisson, and Miguel Angel Jiminez. Woods would have been the defending champion had he played and his coveted number one spot could be up for grabs should Adam Scott or Henrik Stenson post very good finishes. Scott is the highest ranked player in the field and the only player outside of the top 400 is Kenny Perry. His spot came courtesy of winning the Senior Players Championship last year.
We are back to our regular three Categories but you still need to pick three, plus reserve, from each one. The additional cut bonus points are still on offer this time around. If you get all of your picks through in any category you get a small bonus. Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus. It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.
This is a full field with cut event, so cut points will be available; see above.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:
Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Recognized as the 5th major. So why not weighted so ?
Not had such a strong field since .....since The Masters.

No need to go on about it Setup.
Majors are weighted 3. High profile or flagship events such as the WGCs, the Players, and Volvo PGA are weighted 2. Run of the mill events are weighted 1.
Last year's Players was rated 2 and although it bills itself as the unofficial 5th Major, it ain't a Major.

Hi Grumps. I'm going to Bonny Scotland next week (sadly no golf) so I might not be able to do my picks in time. Can I please have numbers 2 and 7 & 12 from each category and no 13 as reserve? Let's see if my "blind" picks do me proud again

Leader in the clubhouse, for now, thanks to that putt on 18th.
Have to admit, I can't muster up much enthusiasm after the sad news of the death of the caddy on the European Tour today.

At the time of writing Jim and Jimmy were nowhere near the golf course so the comment stands Even so, it might not be enough to lift you off of the bottom

Blimey, Kaymer was purring like a Mercedes and after the delay is running like a Trabant.

Great par in the end on 17. If he doesn't make par on 18, should do after that tee shot, it will go to a playoff on Monday.
