Welcome back Retief Goosen

Nice to see Retief Goosen back playing after most of last year out following back surgery (I wondered where he had gone). A good level par first round in the Volvo Champions Tournament in Durban.

My best ever Retief Goosen story.

It was late summer in 1994 and a friend of mine and fellow member of our golf club was flying to America on business. He was sat in the 1st class lounge at the airport enjoying a drink before the flight when the chap sitting next to him struck up a conversation. My friend was wearing a polo shirt sporting a golf club logo and after chatting for a few minutes the fellow asked "Are you a golfer?"

"Oh yes I love my golf" my friend enthusiastically replied, "I play as much as I can and I really enjoy watching the professionals play on the television" His new found friend nodded politely. "Do you play yourself?" my pal continued.

"Yes" came the reply, "I am the current U.S. Open Champion"

Brilliant. My mate has never lived it down.
