Tiger is back Empty Tiger is back

Post by oldparwin Mon Jun 04, 2012 9:15 am

Just watched Tiger win Jacks tournament, by birding 3 of the last 4 holes, I would now say I think he is back, could be an interesting summer now.

What does everyone else think?.

OP, I watched it too and would say that's as close to dominant Tiger as he's been for a long time. Both his performance in the later stages and the collapse of those around made the whole thing feel like 5 years ago.

Problem with Tiger these days (until he proves otherwise) is he's as capable of an 80 as he is a 65. So whether he's back, for me, will have to wait to 15th June

Up to 4th in the World Rankings (he'd be 3rd if they didn't have the minimum 40 events rule).

It was a good win, but everyone thought he was back after Bay Hill. For me the jury is still out & he will only be back when he is winning majors.

I hope that he is "back", as it will be interesting to see how those currently at the top of the tree compete against a revitalised Tiger.

It will, but the big difference for me is that he no longer has that air of invincibility about him.

Wins like last night are what will recreate the air of invinciblity. Especially as IMO the competition right now isn't that great.

I’m not even sure what “tiger is back” means anymore. Back to what? Back to how he was in 2000, No. Back to how he was before Thanksgiving 2009 No. Back to being world number 1? No

Back to being one of the best players in the world, definitely Yes and I do think he has a lot more to come but I don’t think he is there yet. It was a very impressive finish yesterday but the old tiger didn’t need miracle chips in and 3 birdies in the last 4 holes to win tournaments because he pretty much had the tournaments wrapped up long before that.

But this was a very strong field he beat and it will be very interesting to see how things go in the US open.

Has anyone seen the odds for the US Open? With rory’s three missed cuts on the spin I assume that Tiger will be favourite with the bookies.

I cant op, he's just such a loathsome person that I can't see past it. It's like watching john terry for his defensive qualities despite being a total prick

Really hate woods Gung Ho golf anyway. Not enjoyable to watch in my opinion. Hopefully that knee will go again soon.

For me there is still no question who is #1 in the world right now - and that is the guy at #1 in the world rankings

The big test (for both Eldrick and Luke) will be when they go head to head and both have their A-game

Luke didn't look at his best this week yet still came up with a top 10 finish (I think? I didn't actually see where he finished)

Would Tiger have beaten Luke at Wentworth last week? I'm not sure but we'll never know

Hopefully they'll both bring their A-game to the US open in 10 days time and we'll see a good battle

To the OGWR experts - could Tiger get back to #1 with a win in Frisco?

That was another good win by Tiger at the AT&T think he will win a major this year.
