Seems like Sandra Gal was a doubt for the tournament after suffering some unspecified foot injury and missing out on the practice rounds yesterday - she's just tweeted that she's still a little sore but is going to give it a try - could be a brave prediction from Meisce!

Any connection between being a little sore and some of Meisce's stories I wonder?

Three GCUK Fantasy Leaguers seem to know their ladies well after the first round and the other competitors are more savvy than they let on. Given that perhaps half of the field is relatively unknown, most of the Leaguers were able to break the 50% mark with Davie hitting on an impressive 23 of 32 matches. That's quite a night on the dance floor.

The biggest upset for the Fantasy Leaguers was Suzann Pettersen who lost to Jodi Ewart of North Yorkshire as every single one chose Ms. Pettersen based on her #3 seed versus #62 for Ms. Ewart. Her 'twitter feed' on the lpga.com site has been twittering madly all day long and this is her bio from the website:

"5'5''...Started playing golf at the age of 8...Hobbies including playing and watching soccer, playing ping pong, and watching movies and reality television.

In 2010, turned professional in May, played on the Symetra Tour - The Road to the LPGA in 2010 and 2011 where she recorded nine top-10 finished including third at the 2010 Falls Auto Group Classic. Finished tied for 33rd at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she earned Priority List Category 20 for the 2011 LPGA season.


Ewart was named to the 2008 Great Britain & Ireland Curtis Cup team and was a two-time English Amateur Champion (2008, 2009). At the University of New Mexico, Ewart recorded five collegiate wins and was a two-time NCAA All-American (2009, 2010). She was selected to the 2009 NGCA All-American First Team."

One remarkable achievement was the fact that raycastleunited correctly picked all eight matches from one of the four divisions: the Mickey Wright Division which he labeled as the 'Mickey Mouse' division when posting his selections. Now that's calling your shot before you hit the bull's eye.

After 2 rounds of the ladies' match play event in New Jersey the Fantasy Leaguers are lining up behind Davie going into the backstretch. He still retains a slim lead over Meisce and hogie. The favorites on the course seemed be in control of things which gave the Leaguers' conservative picks a chance to get some points. LadyPutt made the best of things by advancing 11 of 16 into the Round of 16.


The following have been eliminated from choosing the overall winner which is worth 50 point bonus and most likely will be the deciding factor in determining the winner on Sunday afternoon... but if nobody's choice dons the first place tiara, it suddenly becomes a crapshoot:

It remained status quo for the Round 3 Leaderboard in the ladies' match play event. Davie maintains a slight lead going into the quarterfinal action with hogie and Meisce tied for second. The Fantasy Leaguers have now officially failed to advance any selections for the Overall Winner category and the 50 bonus points that goes along with it. Davie maintains his lead over Hogie in second place but LadyPutt has made a move sneaking into 3rd spot. Mid table playoff places are bunching up with 10 points separating 4 players. Oldshanker is in danger of not progressing any further as he is down to his final card.

There were some adjustments made:
Meisce was double credited for his pick of Hurst. Vicky Hurst made it through but Pat Hurst lost out in the first round.
Oldshanker was credited with the wrong Hurst, his pick was Pat Hurst not Vicky Hurst.

It's pretty much as you were in the table but we say goodbye to Meisce and venice1 as they bow out at the semi final stage. Oldshanker is hanging on by the skin of his teeth, his remaining card Azahara Munoz was successfully played but pretty much everyone else had that one too.

In a dramatic match Azahara Munoz beat Morgan Pressel in a semi final marred by a slow play penalty. If your memory doesn't stretch that far Pressel won one of the par 3s to extend her lead but on the next tee box was told she took too long to play her shots on that hole. The penalty was loss of hole and a two hole swing. Munoz grabbed on with both hands and ran with it taking the lead over the next few holes. However the controversy was far from over Pressel claimed that Munoz touched the line of her putt during her preparation. Call in the officials, watch the tape, did it happen? No, say the officials, no penalty, play on. Sour grapes Morgan?
