The GolfChatUK Fantasy League Event #18 is the Volvo World Match Play Championship affair in non-other than Casares, Andalucía. There are three items involved to choose for:

1. Select the overall winner of the Match Play tournament

2. Select the winner for the posted Thursday and Friday matches

3. Select the ranking of players to determine picks for all subsequent matches
(Please make only one list to be valid for the rest of the tournament)

To give those willing to still participate some breathing room, selections can be made up until the individual matches actually begin.

1. Only Thursday's matches have to be posted by play tomorrow
2. Friday's morning matches have to be posted by Friday morning
3. Friday's afternoon matches have to be posted by Friday afternoon
4. Saturdays and Sunday's matches will be determined by each contestant's ranked list for the 24 match players entered and have to be posted by Saturday morning
5. All selections can be changed up until the respective matches actually begin


Good luck to all and a reminder that Mary_S is the current Fanstasy League Match Play Champion for having won League Event #6: the WGC - Accenture Match Play Championship. This GCUK event will not count in the total point standings but will the winner will be officially recognized by the League.

You could pick by numbers LP. Post your lottery numbers and we will take care of the rest. For example in Cat A your numbers are 4 & 7, Cat B 17 & 23 And in Cat C 24 & 38. We will then determine which players on the list and enter them for you. Another way would be to pick the same numbers for each category.

I think it's worked out quite well for those who have tried it.

Silly me! I had it in my mind that the BMW was matchplay as well. Probably because the matchplay this week used to be at Wentworth.

I was really hoping that somebody else was going to ask that question as I am obviously missing something!

It's starting to get to complicated for me, will give this week a miss.

Whoa there Venice! Looks like you have left off the 3rd seed in each group.

As there is a round robin stage before the quarter finals, there are 24 group matches on Thurs and Fri. I think predicting the outcome for each match is a little bit too time consuming.

How about:
1. Predict 16 qualifiers and rank them (1 - 16) for the knock out stage
2. Predict overall winner (I guess the guy who is at the top of your ranking list)

Interesting as many of these type of elimination match play comps usually resolve themselves after each match. Let's reward the halves with a half credit respective to the points earned for the particular round. In this round, a half credit deserves 2.5 points.

The biggest disappointment for all competitors was the selection of Martin Kaymer who was chosen by all but left them nothing in his loss to Rafael Cabrera-Bello who beat him soundly 3 & 2. Paul Lawrie was the other underdog who beat his opponent, a 2 & 1 victor over Peter Hanson. Friday's action sees 16 matches with the eight unseeded players teeing up a pair of matches against Thursday's seeded players.

Since the GCUK Fantasy League is treating this tournament as an official friendly, there have been a couple of implementations to compensate for the early selection posts by the competitors.

1. LadyPutt and Hogie posted the overall winner, Thursday matches and Player rankings. They have been allotted virtual picks for the 16 Friday matches. All of their picks are the higher seeds for each respective match.

2. Doc and oldshanker posted the overall winner and the Thursday matches. They have been allotted virtual picks for the 16 Friday matches. All of their picks are the higher seeds for each respective match. They have also been allotted Player rankings based on the respective order to determine their picks for the rest of the tournament.

3. Meisce posted the overall winner. He will be used as the virtual standard as all his allotted virtual picks are based on the Player rankings in their respective order for the entire tournament.
