What a finish to the Honda Classic! Player after player seemed to get themselves in a position to win the tournament and then contrived to throw it away. A four way playoff ensued and after the first hole on one remained. While those with a chance of victory were toiling others who were out of the spotlight decided to take advantage, six players shot 67 to tie for low round of the day. Four of them were GolfChatUK Fantasy League picks too; LadyPutt, Mary_S, and RedRage had multiple picks in that small group too. 1GrumpyGolfer and SetupDetermines also had one pick in the low round scores. The worse rounds of the day were 78 and Brendan de Jonge ended his weekend with a double of worst rounds. Ben Crane joined him with a 78 and that was enough to give him last place too.
Now onto the finish placings, at the start of the day three picks were in the points: McIlroy, Mackenzie, and Woods. At the end of the day six other picks moved into the placings but one of the original three fell out. Tigers Woods withdrew due to back spasms which had been affecting his play all day. The picks either finished 2nd, 6th, 8th, or 12th and a few of those that finished 12th shot 67 to get there. Everyone had at least one pick score finish points and if Davie had upgraded Paul Casey instead of selecting Peter Uihlein he would have had two picks; oh well. 1GrumpyGolfer and SetupDetermines each had the same two picks score points so they stayed close by each other in the same places. Mary_S also had two picks score points and that along with both of them making low round of the day she overtook Davie. LadyPutt had a triple double in points finishers and low round bonus points. BlueCoverman had three points scorers with 2nd, 6th, and 12th placed finishes. RedRage went one better with all four positions among his picks, his two low round scorers drew him level with BlueCoverman and Garcia's 8th place sent him to the top of the leaderboard.
A thrilling end to the Honda Classic and kudos to SetupDetermines for calling it mid afternoon despite the spluttering protestations of BlueCoverman.

Round 3 had 79 players so there was an MDF to bring the field down to the top 70 and ties. Tiger Woods needed to get a move on and he did just that. He was one of five players to shoot 65 which was the low round of the day. That earned points for RedRage and Davie; no one else earned points in round 3. The other players to shoot 65 were: Stuart Appleby, Luke Guthrie, Matt Every, and Brian Stuard. Brendan de Jonge suffered in the final group spotlight and he had the worse round of the day with a 76. SetupDetermines lost one of his picks in Y.E. Yang to the Saturday cut.

I think we need the handicap secretary to weigh in here :whistle:BlueCoverman becomes the first GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguer to get all picks through the new system. He earns beaucoup de bonuses and surges ahead in the leaderboard race. His next closest challengers are RedRage and SetupDetermines who each had seven picks but only one bonus. LadyPutt also had seven picks and a cut bonus while 1GrumpyGolfer had six with a cut bonus. Davie and Mary_S each had four picks through and they didn't earn a cut bonus.
The low score was 63 and two players shot that number; Russell Knox and John Senden. Alan Morin had the worst round with an 81. No one picked any of these so no further bonuses were awarded.
With 79 players making the cut there will be a further cut, to top 70 and ties, after round 3.

Belated update for Round 1. Rory McIlroy shoots 63 to take the first round lead and make four GolfChatUK Fantasy Leaguers very happy indeed. Fear not, unhappy Fantasy Leaguers you're still in the top 5... Rounds of 65 or lower made the Top 5 Low Round scores but no one had a pick other than McIlroy manage this. Briny Baird slumped to an 79 for the worse round but no one picked him either.
Somewhere between round 1 and 2 and for some reason Hideki Matsuyama withdrew and this will hamper LadyPutt's chances. The cut line is around even par right now and good rounds are needed for some picks to make the cut; unfortunately some of them didn't get this memo in time.

Monday qualifying didn't quite finish off on Monday so the final four spots have not been allocated as yet and that means the field is yet to be finalised. However the start of the Florida swing sees a strong field gathering for the Honda Classic witheight seven of the top nine players in the OWGR gracing the event with their presence.
We are back to our regular three Categories but you still need to pick three, plus reserve, from each one. The additional cut bonus points are still on offer this time around. If you get all of your picks through in any category you get a small bonus. Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus. It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.
This is a full field with cut event, so cut points will be available; see above.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:
Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

They're been falling over themselves to throw this one away and now it's a four way playoff.
This one's gonna be a bit close to call as about 15 guys shot 67 for low round and four of them were picks.
Playoff will be interesting: 18, then 17, and then back to 18 if needed.

I assume that Redrage sent you a PM Grumps, as I can't quite see where he confirmed a new Cat B pick as requested by you?

Tell it to the Judge
He didn't confirm a new pick, like Davie did, and he didn't confirm a new reserve, like you did, but his reserve would be automatically upgraded to pick. It says dare in dems dare rules. I asked for confirmation just in case another of his Cat B picks withdrew; something like that happened to SetupDetermines and screwed him from the get go last year. Nice try though

Surely that's the point of nominating a reserve?

Congratulations RR!
I see that Davie obviously didn't cope too well with the high altitude of being above me in the first three rounds.
Thanks for all the hard work GG, hope your laptop is fully restored to good health.

Red (and Paul Casey) ruined my moment of glory. A victory would have given me 3 consecutive wins and I would have been able to keep the trophy for good. Just the same as the World Cup right?.....

Phew, I was starting to think Blue was on the 'roids with they way he was tanking us for the last few weeks! I thought my chance was gone when Tiger pulled out, I was sure he was going to bring home some worst round points.

My luck had to run out sooner or later Red!
What you mean when you gave yourself a final total of 125 points Grumps, instead of the correct score of 120?
