The Masters - 2012
First topic message reminder :
So it seems there is only one story in town this week and we may as well have a thread about it right from the start of the week!
Obviously no golf to talk about yet (though last week at the Shell Houston may bring up some talking points) but at the moment it's the dreaded "Meeja" generating the talking points
Poulter not wanting advice from the venerable masters (with a small "m"). Rory splitting from Chubby last year hitting the headlines again- and of course in the UK, Sky Sports throwing the proverbial kitchen sink at the coverage
On the media front, I'm surprised to see Kirsty Gallagher getting an apparent top billing on the SS shows. I'd much rather see Rob Lee in the hot seat (at least Kirsty is taking the limelight away from the dreadful David Livingstone though) - and what has Sarah Stirk done wrong? She seems to have made a good start as TV anchor-person
Of course Roey is also there so we can expect the Tiger/Coco-fest to continue - from what I've seen of coverage so far anyone would think the world #1 isn't even there!
Worst of all, Sky have announced that they have Jack on their team this year so expect the sycophancy to reach levels even greater than we saw at Arnie's party.
Having said all that I'm still glad that we have them to watch rather than Steve Ryder or Gary Lineker on good old Auntie Beeb and we should all say a prayer of thanks (could we get Zach Johnson to lead the prayer circle?) that ITV don't get the coverage or it could be the execrable Jim Rosenthal or that prat that now does the football (Adrian Childs?)
My own hopes for the week are that Luke consolidate his #1 spot and breaks the duck in the Majors - either him or LW would make my weekend. Bradley or Rose to get into the mix and I have a sneaking feeling that Jason Day could once again feature at ANGC when he's had a very quiet year so far.

Re: The Masters - 2012
Did Michael Vaughan do that on purpose, do you suppose?

Re: The Masters - 2012
Did anyone just see Michael Vaughan on the BBC say to Woods "so you've won this tournament 3 times..."
Tiger says "4 times actually"
Quite funny but how embarrassing for the Beeb?!! Why is he on the golf anyway?!

What did Vaughan do? (I'm watching Sky)
And is Alliss making a tit of himself over Phat Phil making a tit of himself?

Re: The Masters - 2012
Just before the start of the interview you overheard Tiger moan under his breath, 'Jesus, come on' or something like it. I therefore wondered whether Vaughan took one of his titles away just to piss him off.

Did someone say Vaughan is on the bbc coverage! Excuse my french but what the fuck is a cricketer doing on golf commentary.
Thank god I can't get bbc coverage where I am!
C'mon King Louis that score I had on you at 80/1 to win would be a nice return after this weekends spending

Holy fuck, what an entrance to the final round. Thanks Mav
What is big fat Phil like. Probably trying to make this interesting. Thanks Merc
How did that not go in for Lee and what the fuck was that from Hanson on 12

Re: The Masters - 2012
Now that must've been a shank from Hanson. Wish Kuchar would kindly do one!
Westwood yet again proving he doesn't have the balls to be a bold putter yet instead blaming it on the line!! Err no lee if you hit it posivtively with less break that uphill putt would drop instead of fannying it and hoping it will turn

Re: The Masters - 2012
Have to say if Westwood gad managed somehow to force a playoff that had Poulter ib it I'd know for a fact my money would be on Poulter all day long! He may have a relatively average long game for a tour play but his short game, putting and self nelief are immense

Big fat Phil loves the 13th just 5 under for it this tournament.
There is something about Kuchar that I don't warm to. Probably that big shit eating grin.
Bit of a mistake from king Louis on 14. If he drops one it cold get very interesting.

We could be heading for a playoff here!
Kuch makes an eagle 3 and gets into a tie! Let's hope he does what Hanson did at 12!!!!

That was a serious anti water shot from Kuch! Would like to see a thin through the green now!
Bubba hitting Driver, 9iron to the 15th that is just outrageous!

Westwood looked thoroughly cheesed off in that interview and can't say I blame him.
If he could putt he would have walked this

Did Westwood finally admit there that his putting is shite! About time he realised it! Get yourself off to Dave Stockton my lad and listen to every bloody word and if you can't putt then you don't deserve a major

He missed two short putts on 18 on Friday and 9 yesterday. He would be in the playoff without those misses

Who does this favour? Louis owner of a major title or Bubba looking to avenge his USPGA playoff loss.

He missed a ridiculously short one on the 13th yesterday - a Ms Kim effort.

Louis should take 4 iron now get it in play. Dumbass with a 3 wood way right. At this rate they might need tomorrow to finish this.

And no Mav, Westwood said 'I'm playing well, nothing fell' bla bla as usual. Very Tiger-esque

Damn you Bubblegum Watson! Cost me 1600quid!!! But what a shot to win it!
The Only way Oosthuizen was going to be beaten was with a touch of magic, I think one things for certain, out of this week Louis has proved he is a world class player under pressure, that his Open win was no fluke and he has more majors in him.

Re: The Masters - 2012
Just catching up with the closing holes now as I bailed out early (well it wasn't THAT early) last night
Just a shade disappointed that it was Blubba who got there in the end though to be fair he did play probably the best golf of the week.
Plenty of "what if's" in there - not least Westwoods putting but the "what if's" work both ways - it's probably fair to say that if it wasn't for the outrageously good shot that gave Louis his albatross, then he wouldn't have been in the playoff anyway
Must will be made of Westwood's putting but let's not forget he was the one of the top 3 golfers who put in a decent fight when Coco and Luke failed to feature
Interesting to see the Americans starting to gather though for their onslaught for the top 3 world ranking spots. Still great to see home players in the world top 3 but they must be starting to look over their shoulders now at the likes of Blubba, BFP, Stricker, Mahan, Kuch etc
Oh and a word for Poulter - after a top 3(?) at Bay Hill and now a good showing at The Masters, is he on his way back to some form and possibly a win soon?

Does anyone else have the post-Masters blues?
I've been in Switzerland for Easter and each day has involved long lie-ins, walking the dogs in the afternoon and then watching the Masters on the evening - a combination I'm going to miss immensley.
