In a shocking turn of events Martin Kaymer won the US Open; who saw that coming?  The Fantasy League leaderboard shows the difference between the haves and have nots; Fantasy League Fair Play rules may need to be instigated.  If any of the three who picked Kaymer only picked Kaymer they still would have beat everyone else with that pick alone, everything else was just gilding the lily.  In the end Davie exerted his Kaymer-like dominance by having four other picks extend the victory margin.  RedRage finished comfortably in second with a top four through Henrik Stenson.  BlueCoverman took the final spot on the podium with Adam Scott finishing in the top 10.  Mary_S had four picks score points and she finished in a tie with 1GrumpyGolfer and SetupDetermines.  SetupDetermines hung onto a share of fourth by the skin of his fingers as all eight of his picks contrived to finish outside of the points.  LadyPutt gave her players Father's Day off and remained stuck fast at the bottom of the leaderboard.

The race for Low Amateur finished with Matthew Fitzpatrick keeping his nose clean over the weekend.  BlueCoverman and SetupDetermines earned 30 points from Fitzpatrick.

Daniel Berger shot 66 for the round of the day and Bo Van Pelt had a 79 for the worse round of the day. As expected Toru Taniguchi finished at the bottom of the leaderboard.

After Martin Kaymer tore apart the No.2 setup at Pinehurst the USGA got their own back.  Only two players broke par with both of them shooting 67.  With the higher scoring the Top 10 Low Round scores moved into black numbers at +1.  Eleven other players had rounds of 70 or 71 and eight of them were Fantasy League picks.  Davie and RedRage roll on as each of them had three picks meet that mark.  SetupDetermines, 1GrumpyGolfer, and LadyPutt each had two picks score points and BlueCoverman and Mary_S each had one pick score points.

Rickie Fowler and Erik Compton both shot 67 to reduce Marin Kaymer's lead to just five shots.  Toru Taniguchi had a day to forget with an 88.

Looks like this could be all over bar the shouting.  Martin Kaymer shoots 65 for the second day in a row extending his lead by another 3 shots.  His two round score of 130 is a US Open record and he ties Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy for the biggest halfway lead.  That round earned bonus points for BlueCoverman, Davie, and RedRage.

The cut line slowly moved upwards and eventually finished at +5. This was just one shot shy of Luke Donald and it meant that SetupDetermines missed out on the full set by that slim margin.  He has eight picks through and cut bonuses for Categories A and C.  He still trails Davie who lost all of Category C but with two cut bonuses and low round bonus points he maintained the gap over Setup.  RedRage has six picks and one cut bonus and he slips just behind Setup.  BlueCoverman only managed 5 picks through and he missed out on cut bonuses however, he has low round points to soften the blow.  Mary_S matched Davie with the full complement of Category A and B and the associated bonuses but she doesn't have any of Category C either.  1GrumpyGolfer has a slight lead over LadyPutt due to having one more pick and a cut bonus.  They have six and five picks respectively.

The race for Low Amateur is over and clever Fantasy Leaguers picked Matthew Fitzpatrick.  He was the only amateur to make the cut; Brian Campbell playing in the last group bogied his final hole to miss out by one shot.  Oliver Goss slumped to joint worst round of the day with an 83.  Maverick McNealy had a 76 and Cory Whitsett was the only amateur to break par but he missed out by a shot too.

Azuma Yano also had an 83 to finish close to the bottom of the leaderboard.

Only two picks made it to the hallowed ground of the Top 5 Low Round scores and Davie had both of them.  He has sprinted out into the lead as a few other Fantasy Leaguers were wondering what that loud noise was.  Martin Kaymer shot 65 to lead by three shots from Graeme McDowell and a few others.  BlueCoverman and RedRage also picked Kaymer so they are close behind.  SetupDetermines picked McDowell so he is trying to keep up.  The less said about the rest the better.

In the race for Low Amateur wise Fantasy Leaguers avoided Brandon McIver who carded an 82 which was joint worst round of the day.  Popular picks of Matthew Fitzpatrick and Oliver Goss are neck and neck, and well in the hunt, after 71s.  The wonderfully named Maverick McNealy is the next best amateur after a 74 and Cory Whitsett is trying to come back after a 77.

Donald Constable also had an 82 to finish at the bottom of the leaderboard.

The second major of the year is here.  The 114th US Open will be held at Pinehurst with the 69th US Womens Open being played the following week over the same No. 2 Course.  It's the third time in 15 years that the No.2 Course at Pinehurst has been utilised as the Championship course.  None of the previous Pinehurst champions will be playing this time around although the statue of one will be available for photographs.  A statue showing Payne Stewart's celebration at holing a birdie putt on 18 to win watches over the 18th green and the exact same hole location is played on 18 to allow players the chance to recreate that moment.

The No.2 Course will look very different to the last time it was played.  Much has been made of the decision to take the course back to the original Donald Ross design and designers Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw renovated the course in 2011.  Native sandy areas will replace the thick, gnarly rough that is normally associated with a US Open.  There will be two heights of grass on the course; one for greens and one for everywhere else.  With a dramatic change to the irrigation system that has seen a central, single line of sprinklers installed the course will play hard and fast.  A real premium will be put on accuracy as there will be small sections of fairways that offer the optimum shot into the small, upturned saucer shaped, greens.

There are ten prior champions in the field with only Ernie Els and Retief Goosen having won the US Open more than once.  The USGA has had a little fun with some of the groupings and have grouped the 2010-2012 winners in Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy, and Webb Simpson together.  The defending champion, Justin Rose, plays with the US Amateur Champion, Matthew Fitzpatrick, and runner up from 2013 and 1999, at Pinehurst, Phil Mickelson.  There's also a Madness fan at the USGA who has created his own heavy, heavy, monster crew in Brendon de Jonge, Kevin Stadler, and Shane Lowry.

There are thirteen amateurs in the field, idenitfied by (Am) after their name, so we will have a separate pick for Low Amateur. The Low Amateur pick does not have to be one of your Cat C picks unless you so desire.  30 points will be on offer for correctly picking the Low Amateur; if no amateurs make the cut then no points will be awarded.

We are back to our regular three Categories but you still need to pick three, plus reserve, from each one.  The additional cut bonus points are still on offer this time around.  If you get all of your picks through in any category you get a small bonus.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, so cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 10 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Pick 1 amateur identified by (Am) after their name

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.  Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Lol well I did come down a shot yesterday .. and if I hadn't been the golfing equivalent on Wayne Rooney on 16 and 17 I'd have come down an awful lot more! Got cut 0.8 thanks to Stableford reduction but could very easily have been 2.5 shots or more if I hadn't played those two holes like a total beginner  Shocked

Sounds like you need a pencil with an eraser on the end of it. Well done on getting another cut though. Got any more opportunities for a cut before the big one Innocent
