US PGA Championship Empty US PGA Championship

Post by Davie Wed Aug 08, 2012 11:31 pm

Somehow I suspect that with the Olympics drawing to a close, we may not get too excited about the PGA this week, but it IS still one of the 4 majors...

Tiger seems to be bookies favourite. I've been lumping on Westwood to break his major duck but somehow I can't see him doing it this week - so he probably will!

Of the Brit players I fancy Justin Rose to do OK though.

Could be a graveyard of thread this one but hopefully there will be SOMETHING for us to talk about!

I think Westwood is at the start of another rapid decline down the rankings. It's not just that he's not been playing well, it's that he doesn't seem at all bothered by it. Look at his tweets against Luuuke's - Westy laughed about shooting 81, Donald is always finishing his tweets with #keepgettingbetter. Who's got the better approach, I wonder?

I can smell another South African major winner this week, Louis is playing great and holds his form for weeks at a time, Els has the monkey off his back and Charl had a great finish on Sunday and is looking in good shape, he scrambles well too which will be important on the big run offs on these greens.

Looks like most of the field wil get blown away today, even par could be a winning score?.

The current top of the leaderboard is interesting in more ways than one.

Ian Poulter 6 birdies in the first 7 holes to get within 2 shots of Rory...interesting certainly, could well be a fantastic evening's viewing ahead!

Poulter still has a lot to do (possibly just too much)but I'd love to see him take it. Coco must still be favourite though

Well I know that he is not everybodys favourite, but what a performance from Rory McIlroy. I really enjoyed watching that tonight, not only did Rory win but he smashed the field again for the second time in a Major. A bogey free 66 to win by 8 shots and setting a new record for PGA margin of victory is impressive indeed.

Still only 23, back to number 1 in the world and now a double Major winner. Is he now perhaps more of a threat to beating Jack's record than Tiger?

Rory played very well to win it, yet another year when Westwood, and Donald remain without a Major, think their chances now might have gone, the same way as their golf has gone this year.

Is Poulter looking like the Englishman most likely to win a major?
