Summer Eclectic? Empty Summer Eclectic?

Post by 1GrumpyGolfer Tue May 01, 2012 1:46 am

Now that the winter comp is finally done and dusted and bragging rights have been won or lost is it time to set something up for the summer?

Same format? 8 rounds nominated before play, beginning in May and closing at end of August or September?Thoughts and ideas, ladies and gents?

OK if it stops raining for more than a day at a time!

Excellent idea grumps if you are prepared to do it!

Think the last one worked very well - summer conditions could see some real bandit scores! Now you're playing again hope you'll join us instead of just being judge and jury.

LP, I was hoping that the drought Summer Eclectic? 3461234324 may be over for long enough during the 17 or 22 weeks of the comp.

Yes, Davie, I'll breakout the magic spreadsheet and see if I can fix it to win the thing Innocent

Glad to have you aboard Doc; looking forward to hearing about the new swing in proper comp conditions.

Looks like we have Davie and Doc, fighting for second place behind me and LP wavering at the moment. Once we get some more interest I'll post a rules and regs thread with entry list.

I'll give it a go... although I've still only played about 4 times this year!

I think you played that card when OS ran the comp LJ. No doubt you'll be wanting extra shots or to play off the red tees Summer Eclectic? 3247107148

I'm not proud. Who has a skirt in my size? It's 6 foot one in the fat bastard range.

Excellent. It's always more fun when two people decide to indulge in a bit of cross-dressing.

Hm - a bit of the old Victor Victoria. Still anything would be better than to see you or even worse me in a lime green mankini!

Scary thoughts from both you and OS, LJ. Keep those mankinis to yourselves. Suppose it might scare off McTapper and others at Bournemouth...

Have you got enough to make a go of it Grumps? Are you going to promote it on the other place too? No reason why you shouldn't as you are still a member over there although if you choose not to, perhaps some of the double dippers can mention it over there and get more joining here!

I think we have 7 participants here at the moment Davie and once it starts we'll probably get a few more join in.

Good question about the other side, it would seem fair to include those who haven't switched but I'm posting over there less and less although I do still read the stuff.

I'll break out the rules and regs thread shortly as there will be some changes: all scores not just improvements need to be provided and a consistent set of tees should be used.

I think I will run it from May 14 through to September 30, that gives everyone 20 weeks to complete 8 rounds despite the weather, the Olympics and the Euros plus their own holiday time.

Hogie, welcome to the comp. We have two other threads on this and they're both stickies at the moment: Rules, Regs and Entry list and Tell us about your Eclectic.

I will need from you details of your course, par for each hole, stroke index, course and slope rating for the tee boxes you will play or SSS if you're not playing Stateside. Plus handicap index, I can check course handicap out. These can be supplied via email or PM; I'll PM you my email. If it is easier you can scan me a copy of your card or send me a link to it.

Good luck Grumps
