Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:
Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the GolfChatUK Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be treated as nil scoring. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.
Example: Pick 2 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4 and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1 and 7, reserve 3 from Category B, players 1 and 2, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Re: GolfChatUk Fantasy League 2012 - Inaugural Season - Event #12 _ Kraft Nabisco Championship
Brilliant Venice - we are so lucky to have you here running these events.
I'm really looking forward to this one even if outside the top handful of players it will be a bit of a lottery for me!
I wonder how many people will be brave enough to ignore Yani? It's almost worth giving everyone a free Yani-pick and seeing who can pic the second best!
Of course anyone being brave enough to ignore Ms Tseng could get a massive steal on the rest of the field if she doesn't come up with the goods but I can't imagine many taking that risk

I think my picks on this one will based on my lucky lottery numbers, that so far have failed to win me anything.

The first place points award is difficult to disregard even though there are no guarantees. The winning point total for the tourney could go past 500! If all six picks make the cut that is worth 150 points alone. The weather is going to be absolutely gorgeous and hot... just like the players.
Even BlueCoverman's honey, Ms. Laura Davies!
Sorry Mav, had to borrow your babe for a short while.

just realised it took me half an hour to do that, as I have no idea who the players are.
Well, I am being distracted by the highlights (ie England wickets ) from Sri Lanka at the same time

LP - Charley has impressed me a lot since I first found out about her during the LGU debacle. If she doesn't make the cut then I may at least get bonus points for worst round
Hope not though - good luck to her and she hopefully has as much chance as the other Cat C golfers, most of whom I haven't heard of!
(I also had a very small bet on Charley at 300/1 !! )

The greatest love affairs have started out as a simple little joke.BlueCoverman wrote:Just to confirm what little street cred I have left...the Laura Davies thing was of course a joke!
All major tournaments receive a 3 Weighting. But more to the point, we're just trying to balance the scales in the women vs. the men battles as historically the ladies usually spend more money and eventually receive a bigger piece of the pie (or do they get the whole pie and occasionally dole out some sympathetic crumbs?) but giving them a Weighted 4 level would have been like rubbing salt in the men's wound. But have faith, one day we men may achieve parity even if it takes another 3 million years or so to do it.BlueCoverman wrote:Oh and why the heavy weighting?...it's hardly proper golf!

X-lent Meisce! Just may be an original concept in the golf fantasy league world.
Next we'll be expecting someone to come up with a limerick poem type entry.
(Would have worked well with your selections.)

Could have the exact same problem as Sicily with this comp.
Yani Tseng and Christie Kerr reserve Ai Miyazato
Se Ri Pak and Melissa Reid reserve Sandra Gal
Ryann O'Toole and Becky Morgan reserve Laura Davies
Glad I resisted the temptation to google images the field for my choices.

Re: GolfChatUk Fantasy League 2012 - Inaugural Season - Event #12 _ Kraft Nabisco Championship
I can't get the thinking of a limerick out of my head so here's my effort. I'll be away next week anyway.
So our guru is a young chap called Venice
Who delivered a limerick challenge without menace
So it's Rory, Luke, Graeme, Webb, Toms and Bjorn
And not Novak nor Rafa though on form
Cos we pick for golf and not tennis.
I hope my categories are correct.
If we are doing an amateur then I'll go for the first surname alphabetically.

Er no - that is far too much hard work. I already sweat blood over who to pick, using a combination of world ranking, hair length/pi, my car number plate (I tried using LJ's, but it didn't work), whether the dog poops or pees first on her walk and numerous spreadsheets with integrated and complex formulae. And you want me to forgo all of those tried and trusted methods to become a 'bard!'
No, no, no and thrice no,
I shall pick up my pin and go.
The players need picking
their names a good sticking
Or I will come last again!

Apparently the GCUK Fantasy League competitors know the ladies more than they have publicly stated. No less than eight have managed to choose 2 players that made the Round 1 Top 5 points category worth a whopping 30 points per pick. Another nine chose at least one player making the same list for 9th spot going into the second round. Yani Tseng was the most popular pick and she delivered as expected.
With so many points awarded early on, it's surprising that nobody chose the tournament leader Amy Yang at - 6 nor the player who shot the worse score of the day, Belen Mozo at +11. This ladies major tourney holds the cut line at the top 70 plus ties so there will be much anticipation to see who will jump on the rest of the field by having all six selections make the cut which is worth 150 points.
One poor soul has already been denied the bonanza cut points by Mindy Kim's withdrawal after shooting a +5 in Round 1: Meisce. But as the saying goes: one missed cut does not condemn one to hell but it does put one on the hot seat. And it won't be the last time a graceful lady will bring grief and misery to a gentleman regardless of how many times he retrieves her laced-fallen handkerchief.

Round 2 in Rancho Mirage seemed like the Fantasy League's desert version of 'Girls Gone Wild' judging by the way the points were being exposed by the 'hot' sun by the dozens. The big story of the day is the five who are bonafide 'ladies men' for having all six picks make the weekend party scene: JDandfries, hogie, raycastleunited, Davie and BlueCoverman. And raycastleunited takes the lead going into the frenzy.
Highlights: JDandfries, hog and raycastleunited also had all three of their reserves make the cut. No points for the reserves but remarkable none the less. raycastleunited and BlueCoverman selected Na Yeon Choi who had Round 2 low score and worth 30 points. hogie and Davie were saved in the end by a valiant last nine from Natalie Gulbis who was 7 over par after her triple bogey on 18 (her ninth hole) but responded with 4 'hot' birdies and made the cut by one sweet shot.
A special mention goes out to Charley Hull for stretching just enough to nudge the cut line by parring her last 3 holes and successfully weathering a bogey storm over the previous 13 holes. And again it was Davie who challenged the field before the tourney started to dare and choose Charley but there were no takers. Only he receives that honor for the time being and that will never happen again if her first two rounds in this major tourney are signs of things to come.

Davie is riding the wave of the young 'uns to the top of the leaderboard after Round 3 in the Southern California desert. His selections of Lexi Thompson and you-know-who earned him another 60 points for having Round 3 Top 10 scores. And just as the real tournament is living up to expectations and more, so is the GCUK Fantasy League event with more record points for Round 3 due to being a Weighted 3 event but more because the selections have shown that there is a peeking eye placed on the women's tour than what's being stated on the boards.
boyhyde and venice1 were able to gather an extra 30 points each for having Suzann Pettersen shoot the low round of the day. Nobody chose Ji Young Oh who shot the worse round of the day and even worse is that nobody knows who she is and now those that do know her will not speak up for obvious reasons.
There are 26 players within 6 shots of the lead going into the final round on the course. In the virtual world of the Fantasy League competitors there are at least half that number within striking distance of grabbing the first major title in the short history of the league. Only one can be the first… and that's forever.
