A Hole in One!
Yes this is something we've all discussed before and I'm posting a lot of threads of late but I don't care because I'm writing this today having had a Hole in One today playing in an invitational event at a friends course.
Competition run by the head pro there and I was invited to play by one of his assistants as we've been friends since we were juniors together. Shotgun start and I was drawn luckily to play with the head pro, club captain and the assistant Pro (my mate)
Played well all day and won some prizes but higlight was on the 4th tee a par 3 all down hill and pin was tucked on the front side. No real breeze but what there was would be callased as helping. Due to the slope I hit a 7iron, hit it sweet and was on target all the way. However did not see it go in as due to the slop and front pin placement couldn't see bottom half of the flag. We all assumed it was maybe 8feet or so short of the hole. When we got down to green we could see 2 balls on putting surface fornt edge, one on the right but no 4th ball (my ball) but there was a pitchmark 3feet short of the pin right in line with it! So upon inspecting the hole there laid my ball!!!
I'm happier that a fat kid in a cake shop

Nice one Mav. What did you get for it? Apart from pissed in the bar that is. Congrats.
Closest I've come is about 8 inches. I could see it tracking towards the hole too.

Well done Mav, be a shame to ditch those cobra irons after that, so to save you the trouble i'll have your brand new pings.

Re: A Hole in One!
Nice try S_R I think Mav might be mounting his 7 iron along with the ball.

He's what!!!
I suspect it might be Mrs Mav he will be mounting and the ball will stay in the bag where it belongs.

Stick them on ebay, you might get 99p for them

Re: A Hole in One!
Having been made to have several coffes to sober up and having read back the OP its glear from the errors I made grammatically how much I'd consumed at the time of writing! Brandy + Phone to type thread = appalling English!
Today was my 3rd hole in one. But was the 1st one that was a good shot! The other to were so bad it was laughable when they went in.
Still I'm happy. SR no way the Pings are still going to be mine one good round doesn't mean they stay. Mind I won't be selling them as they are fine and a superb backup plan

Super! How much did it cost you in the clubhouse afterwards? And were you guys also playing skins at the time?

Re: A Hole in One!
Due to the nature of the comp/invitational being a shotgun start the clubhouse was rather busy so rather than taking orders for drinks i bought a couple bottles brandy a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of sherry for all to have one. sounds tight but cheaper than buying individuals exact drinks!
hole in one on a par 4 Doon well done, been lucky enough to witness that on 2 occaisions ironically both on the same Par 4

Re: A Hole in One!
Yes.....It was a perfectly hit full out drive, downhill, so I saw it all the way.
Late October day so the clubhouse was pretty empty which was just as well as I was a struggling young father of two young children then.
