Some of you may have heard this one before...

It is greater than God and more evil than the devil. The poor have it, the rich need it and if you eat it you'll die. What is it?

Marmite all the way baby. I worked at an Australian place for a couple of years and they were going on about getting Vegemite in to the pantry area. I thought I'd give it a go, it must be like marmite, it's the same stuff, right. Wrong! Horrible, horrible stuff, eurgh wasted two slices of toast on that crap.

There is the difference between vegetable based and meat based. Marmite is unique and I for one love it. Tried vegemite and not fussed. Bovril is pretty damn good as well.

While researching Bovril on wiki, read this excerpt:
"During the Siege of Ladysmith in the Second Boer War, a Bovril-like paste was unofficially produced from horse meat within the garrison. Nicknamed Chevril (by replacing the Bov (ox) with Chev (horse) in the Bovril name) it was produced by boiling down horse meat or mules to a jelly paste and serving it as a beef tea." Shocked

Think I'll go with the mule jelly today but not count it as having afternoon tea.
