'Redrage' Dominates U.S. Open And Then Some!

There are many ways to win and two of those methods were dynamically employed this week in one event with two competitions by one Fantasy Leaguer. The GCUK Fantasy League U.S. Open event turned into a landslide victory for Redrage as he more than lapped the field with 510 total points. Playing carefree with a huge lead he easily secured his win with his picks of Michael Thompson, who tied for second, Padraig Harrington at 4th and Lee Westwood finishing tied for 10th. His three closest rivals, venice1, raycastleunited and faldono1fan made superficial attacks but their 225 point totals were more than doubled by the newest Fantasy League major champion.

The coup de grâce was consummated when Redrage also finished first on the Amateur Fantasy Leaderboard with his selection of Jordan Spieth who came from behind to defeat media darling Beau Hossler on the final day to deny faldono1fan the amateur bragging rights. The new amateur competition arose from nothingness as a League experiment due to administrative negligence and it looks like it's here to stay for the major events that invite amateurs. The six who grouped together with amateur Patrick Cantlay finished in third and Mary_S with Hunter Hamrick (not really an amateur as initially posted by the USGA) ended up last for the weekend competitors.

On the course it was a different story as the leaderboard imploded near the midway point of the last round which gave the rest of the Fantasy Leaguers even less of a chance to mount any last minute challenges. Nobody selected the U.S. Open winner, Webb Simpson, which was worth 180 points and nobody selected Joe Ogilvie who had the rare double of worse score for the last round as well as finishing in last place for those who made the cut. Also of note is Redrage's selections taking the low score for 3 of the 4 rounds played. GCUK Fantasy League U.S. Open champ indeed.
