Davie/Mav

I think we're all in agreement that we should have some form of golf tips section, and believe many have agreed its a good idea. Have you given it any more thought as to the best way to do it, so that its in easy to access sections/segments, so that we're not spending months going through every post on the thread. Appreciate that its a busy time and Mav will need to spend at least a week doing his Xmas shopping for his 'squad', and Davie will be trolling through shops that still sell vinyl albums.

Ideas?

Hi Doc,
Good start. Some others worth considering:

Bunkers/ Fairway and Greenside
Course management
Tee box strategy
Dealing with the weather

I'm all in favour of it as long as people don't mind subsections (that has caused issues with some people in the past)

The subsection can be set up very easily if that's the way people want to go

I think subsections are the future, much better than ploughing through a long thread trying to find what you are after.

How about we start with say 4 or 5 subsections and see how it pans out? I'd also like to see a subsection for courses to play and/or course review sites but that is just my preference, hopefully others will agree.

How about we start with subsections for driving, short game, irons, putting, bunkers. I reckon that should pretty much cover it?

D4S - I think the suggestion is more along the lines of one sub-section for tips, then different threads in that subsection for different aspects? At least that's how I understood the request. Maybe its just terminology that is confusing us

I've created a Hints and Tips sub forum. You can find it at the top of the golf section

I've also taken the general tips thread out of the main golf section and moved it into the new section and split it up into specific topics

D4S idea about course reviews is a good one, as plenty of us venture into diiferent parts of the UK/abroad on holiday or visting relatives etc

Yes I agree that is a great idea...I am sure that it will create a lot of discussion and information as we plan our golfing schedules!

I see Merc has already started course reviews in this section!

Are we all happy for a sub-section of the golf forum (like the tips section) for these reviews?

Yes indeed, any problems with posting links to club websites or review sites like uk golfguide?

Sorry boss I've been out on the golf course! Wink

I'll get onto it - I suggest a sub section under the main golf forum (alongside the tips section) called something like "course reviews" (real original name - it can be changed later once I've got it in place if anyone is feeling more imaginative than me!)
