Putting : How ? Empty Putting : How ?

Post by SetupDeterminestheMotion Thu Oct 10, 2013 1:54 am

After Saturday's miserable showing with the flat stick: some 41 putts.

After some laser like iron play, put me in a very good position, I failed miserable to get the ball in the hole.

I single putted one hole, 11 - 2 putt holes & 6 - 3 putts holes. Putting : How ? 398825057 Putting : How ? 398825057 Putting : How ? 398825057

How do you get the ball in the hole ??

That sounds pretty grim, Setup .. what was the conditions of the greens? Any excuses there?

If not - just put it down to a bad day and move on. Putting is usually a relatively strong point for me or my handicap would be even higher - but everyone has a bad day particularly on "strange" greens

My course is known for fairly fast greens and the last couple of weeks they are starting to get more like Autumn/Winter standard which has produced a noticeable slow down - could it just be a change of seasons?

was it a case of misreading the greens, poor direction, inconsistent distance control?

What was the recurrent issue?

All of the above, short, long, left & right. Usually my misses are consistent either left or rigt but on Saturday, thet were all over the place.

The recurrent issue was the ball was not diappearing down the hole..Innocent

Does it feel like the takeaway on your putting stroke is a bit jerky? With the putter head moving both inside and outside the line on a random basis?

I think you may have hit it on the nail LJO. Been practising putting between two 4x2s to help straighten it up a bit.

I would say there is a chance your putter is poorly weighted or balanced for your stroke.

Try this.. get a small strip of lead tape and attach it to the putter head. You don't need a lot. Enough to bring it up by 3 swingweights will be enough. Just be careful to put it behind the sweetspot.

I suffered from exactly the same problem. And weighting up the head solved it.

This is what I use for the job.

Or at least something similar. Using premeasured tape means if it comes off I can get exactly the same feel with another piece.

Also carry spares on the course with you. That way if it comes off you can replace it whilst mid-round thus not changing the playing characteristics of your clubs... which is a penalty.

I have a TM white Spider that is adjustable, so I'll add some weight & give it a try.

Thanks LJ

Don't add more than a couple of grams. Which can be tricky with the TM weight kits.

Any more than that and the SW will go too far towards the head.
