Fittings prescription - apply to wedges too?
I had a fitting last year and was told that the optimum shafts for me were Project X 5.5 (I currently have True Temper S300s).
I acknowledge that the answer to this may appear obvious, but I just wanted to check that this should also apply to my wedges (my prescription only referred to 3i to PW)?

I think wedge flexes, think specialist wedges rather than set wedges, are different anyway Merc. You may want to check this with your fitter or a club maker to be sure what the best match for you would be.

My understanding is that you need the same set up for wedges if you get a proper fitting. The idea is to use the same swing as you would for any other iron in your bag, so need the shaft to work exactly the same for wedges. Obviously many people go out and buy wedges off the shelf, but if you have taken the trouble to get a proper fitting then go with your fitter for best results.

Fittings are a funny thing. Do they work? yes. Is it always right for every club in your bag? No.
Example. A certain Darren Clarke would have his short irons set to one set of lies to encourage a fade and his long irons set to another to encourage a draw.
In relation to wedge shafts. Personally I keep mine softer. I never hit my wedges flat out and want to get them feeling soft through impact to launch high and stop quick. If I put my iron shaft in there I'd get too much of a harsh feeling.
So... Think about how much of a feel player you are, and whether your 5.5's will give you the touch you want around the green. Then select the wedge shaft according to that.
Also... A TT Wedge flex is S100 I believe.

Ok. Still fairly soft though.

I have Ping Anser irons. 5-PW have DG Superlite S300's which are stiff. The Anser wedges have DG Spinner regular shafts.
I believe that the softer wedge shafts give me more control, might not be true for everyone but it suits me.
So i agree with you LJ
