First topic message reminder :

It's a year or two before I thought I would get there but I'm in the MoS team this year.

Our first match is at home to Milford next Sunday. I'm going out 3rd.

I'm already full of nervous excitement.

I'm playing in our MoSC team next week. Mullion vs Trevose. Looking forward to it and another Freebie on one of the top Cornish tracks. Hoping for some more decent weather like we have had over the last two or three weeks.

Looking dodgy for our match on Saturday, our course is currently closed. We might have to play it away! Shocked

Well you made it through the first round by having it switched to a home venue. I thought you said at one time home advantage doesn't matter Innocent

Of course everybody is treated the same. There's one rule for me, another for everybody else and third rule for you Mail on Sunday Golf Classic 2013 - Page 2 3461234324

That obviously explains why I am languishing somewhere near the bottom of the league table Mail on Sunday Golf Classic 2013 - Page 2 3461234324

Rule 2 isn't working out quite so well, that Setup bloke seems to have come up with a workaround.

I'm due to be a caddie in our second round match.

The matches start at 0800 on Saturday. If there's one thing worse than getting up at an ungodly hour to play golf it's getting up at an ungodly hour to not play golf and carry someone else's clubs around.

We're a team, though. I must remind myself of that when I get up 90 minutes earlier than I do for work this Saturday.

After an aborted attempt last week when we couldn't see the hands in front of our faces because of the fog we finally got our second round played today.

It looked as though we were cruising with 2.5 points out of the first 3 matches and two strong players to come but it ended up tied in normal time so off up the first went the last match. At this point yours truly had to make his excuses to go to work but 30 minutes later the text came through to say that we had won on the 20th.

The overall standard of golf was excellent. By my opponents reckoning I was 7 under nett, a 4 handicapper on our team shot level par gross and our Club Captain was 4 under his handicap when he lost 4&3. I don't think anyone on either side was more than a shot or two over their handicap so it was a shame either had to lose.

Bring on round 3!

That's some nice going there Jethro, those swing changes must be bedding in nicely. Good luck in round 3

Cheers Grumps, just can't wait for the season proper now so we can start making some inroads into the handicap.

Same here Jethro, less than two weeks now. Tee time set for 7:30!!! on opening day and the guy that booked it will probably be wearing shorts and I'm thinking I'll be needing long johns under my strides.

Well, mullion lost 3-2 to Trevose @ Trevose . Very close as two of games were 1 up going down 18 and ended in a half! I was 1 down to 1 handicapper going down 13 and proceeded to 3 putt the next 3 greens( no shot) to lose 4 and 3. All bait gutted as it would have been a nice scalp for the little old Mullion boys! Always next year and good luck to Trevose in the next round.

Yep we are out as well. We were level at 2 and a half points each at the finish and then lost the play off at the third extra hole.

I lost 1 down to an 11 handicapper who was a bit too tidy to give 6 shots to. So disappointing, if I could have just scraped a half we would have gone through but that's the way it goes sometimes I guess.

Commiserations Blue and MG. Looks it's down to Merc's club to still be flying the flag.

Does that still count now that Merc has been relegated to caddy? Innocent

We lost 3-2.

Should have won.

Caddied in filthy weather.

A bit gutted.

I trust you let them know Merc that it would have been 3-2 the other way if they hadn't dropped you Wink

Not quite, we are still flying the flag. Third round is away at Chevin, I haven't played there before but I understand its a bit on the hilly side.
